She was not amused, nor did she concede the point.

Or that ass, from the sound of it.

I agree though, fuck cruises. Told the wife a long, long time ago I wasn’t going on another cruise, I’d done my share. A bigger white, whistling shitcan (as opposed to a gray, whistling shitcan) doesn’t change a thing.

Este.

I believe that relationships involve compromise and marriages requires sacrifices.  The latter is especially true once kids come along.

Your wife told you there is something she wants to do and would like to experience.  You have no experience with it, but assume you will hate it so refuse...repeatedly.   My position is if you love your wife and family (or want to try to) then you can be honest and say it is not something you would want to do, but if to her (or the kids) it is something important then you make it important to you.  You go, have as good of a time as possible, don't intentionally act miserable or cunty, but try to be happy and supportive as much as you can for your wife and kids.  Cruises have both good and bad, but if you try to enjoy it and the time with your family you will have some good times and some good memories for all of you.  They may be packed in between memories of a bunch of fat, oiled up, gluttons, but they will be there.

Be the man/husband/father you want to be for your wife and kids.  How you dress, interact, engage, support and speak with them is who you are...intentionally to them.  You can control this.

Right now if you honestly described yourself to your wife based on my criteria above would you be happy with who you are. With who you are to her and to your kids (they see how you two interact).  Again, you can control this.

Not trying to shit on you, but about 3 years ago I kind of went through this and decided that part of making my life/marriage better was having my wife see me (through my actions) as the man I wanted her to see.  She has a similar role to play, and I can talk with her about how I want her to be to/for me, but I only control me.

My wife is only one of the 4 but they are all someone's wife. They are sitting in the hot tub enjoying the full moon. All 4 are talking at the same time, for long stretches of time. Loudly. They seem to be following the conversation, but I swear to The Orange Bull there is no way to understand 4 simultaneous strains of conversation.  I think one is talking about cats. Another seems to be talking about curtains. They amaze and befuddle me.  To answer the obvious question, I am old, very old and have no desire to be in the hot tub with them.

The delta between how much work you put into this post and the post's value is absolute comedy gold.

Maybe its an asian American California thing, but I've always said/heard “the wind is from the north/ out of the north/its a north wind” when it is blowing towards the south.

Not throwing shade on superhero, he's one of my favorite surlys but I had to wonder if maybe he had the boat in full reverse at some point.

Its midnight and my wife and I just had a fight because we agreed to watch a show (in the bedroom, where a tv SHOULD NOT exist and predictably she promptly fell asleep. So I have to get up, start looking for the remote, and then turn the light on and search each layer of comforter/blanket/sheet, all while moving the dogs (marriage-sabotage beasts) so I can turn off the fucking television. She asks why Im being mean. I counter with you're being thoughtless, inconsiderate and disrespectful.

Of course it's lost, so I unplug the TV.

Then I get the bright idea to download the Samsung app to my iPhone, plug the tv back in, and attempt to pair the virtual remote because Im a problem solver, but I can't the pair the devices without the remote.

So she's half asleep, bitching about why I’m being mean to her. I tell her I'm trying to solve marriage friction, she mumbles something about doing it tomorrow so I say fine and go unplug the tv.

I'm getting real close to just sleeping in another bedroom from now on. But I bought an $16k bed with adjustable/vibrating bases and top of the line mattresses so why shouldn't I get to sleep on the most expensive bed Ive ever owned?

But they are twins, so we can each control our side even though they are pushed together.

I'm thinking about just moving my bed into a spare bedroom, sans TV, and acting like nothing happened. And when she broaches the topic of marriage therapy I will calmly say “you plainly prioritized dogs and Grays Anatomy over your marriage. I spent thousands attempting to accommodate you but it clearly wasn't valued.”

Most nights I just throw a set of blue tooth bose headphones that are paired to th TV in her lap, grab my cool blackout eye mask from the freezer, and go to sleep.

I just want to go to sleep when I feel like it without a battle.

Tomorrow I’ll get a nice dog enclosure and put it in the foyer of our detached guest house. They can adjust.
