Close friends BIL was at a lease this weekend with someone that was in the room in Dallas when they were putting together the donor side of the UM stuff. Buddy texts me earlier and says the program and the CDC stuff whatever was constant conversation.

- They still feel good about UM.

- CDC is hardly even involved.

- Tom Herman is toast

My main question without being too pushy was why was everyone celebrating on Saturday and then shitty news comes out Sunday and everyone goes completely silent? He said they felt like this last round of negotiations went really well, but that they all agreed to give Meyer space bc it was clear he needed it. Then they all went nuts bc Meyer basically told us he felt great about stuff and that he wants to let the season or his fox stuff or our season or whatever shake out. Meyer had started to get cagey and then he gave us a super positive indication without us asking for one.

this is not like the x-files where the smoking man goes to meet with the cabal.

bulldada detector at defcon 2.  there is 1, maybe 2 people and they do this by phone.

GHEY.

It’s been said many times - but that Fox contract isn’t stopping anything.

If there was any real possibility of assembling a staff and making a difference on NSD1 I don't think so either. But everybody has mentioned how competitive and invested he is im big noon kickoff so he may truly want to finish what he started there.

Zero doubt in my mind that a group got together in Dallas to collaborate donor commitments and solidify what we can do on the donor side to make an offer to UM. I know two of the people that were there.

All I can gather about last Saturday is that at least two people that put up a lot of money think and said its done because UM basically said, yea ok this all looks good. I couldnt text back and ask for details or anything.

So Im back on the UM train.

you need someone on the surl to give you an irl vouch.

I've never really thought the Fox commitment was any kind of impediment. He could accept a coaching job and continue with those duties if he so pleased.

The Fox commitment date was mentioned from the very beginning and people said it didn't matter because it didn't fit in the NSD1 timeline

CTJ also said talks stopped between UM and Texas but it was always possible that UM would come back to negotiations. So, I don't think the Caddox info and CTJ info hand jive.

i think most people here know what ctj's connection(s) are "in austin" relative to "higher education" and until someone here gives caddox an IRL vouch, he's simone.

How does that work from a logistics POV? Assuming you're correct and he likes our deal, how would the AD not be involved in our biggest target? I get that CDC is a massive puss, if he brought up Franklin and dykes as replacement options, but does he just say ok if UM says yes? Obviously you do, but isn't it his fucking job to be in deep on this? Instead, he wastes his time with some sorry ass "Herman is our coach" declaration that probably did more harm than good.

Super religious too and for such a wealthy area, the schools are soso

Agree.

Spoiler

Everything seems to be tracked academically in the big Colorado public high schools. The more tracks - the more successful students. Denver High School (open enrollment until recently - East, South, and George, in particular) are elevated in multiple areas (because every student learns differently). The specialty schools (DSA, DSST come to mind) are outstanding. There are some good teachers in Denver because they want to be there. That's a nice amenity of Denver.

Colorado's big high school have less talent than Texas, but they are a lot like the old west Texas teams in producing some damn impressive players. The fit culture in Colorado helps too, as it did out in west Texas back then.

This is where I have a big blind spot because I agree it doesnt make sense. I keep getting told that Hartzell and the board are running the show with the donors and that CDC is just kind of there to nod his head. Well that sounds like a pretty big problem to me.

For reference since I know my shitposting has been erratic at best- last Saturday the 5th, I got on here and said its done and its happening bc two big money donors said so on a text thread im on.

Then the next day, all the 9.95ers report UM has officially rejected our offer. It made absolutely zero sense and so I just couldnt buy it, but that text thread has been silent ever since. (Or they started a new one without people like me on it.)

Now, this weekend at a hunting lease, a completely different big donor that was involved with the UM stuff says we are still on track with UM and everything is good.

Night Shift, holla!

We hired you to do a job, but the biggest part of that job, the one that determines whether or not you get to keep your job, you don’t get to participate in that.

But isn't this always how Texas does football hires? And the reason we can't get out of or own way? It becomes a BMD faction pissing contest.

They were just grabbing from the 9.95ers right?

Yes, this all came from Chip Brown saying Urban told us "no." IT quickly jumped in and said while things didn't look good, they were not dead. Nahlin and Burton have been very clear about that. Everything else has piggy-backed off Chip's report.

When you suggest James Franklin or Sonny Dykes, you get told to go sit in the fucking corner.

You’re not serious about your job. Makes perfect sense to me.

It makes me wonder if the donors basically said if you arent on the UM train then you're out on the whole process.

Frankly it's no different than when Mack Brown was pushed onto Dodds by the boosters.  Dodds was all set on Barnett until the boosters told him otherwise.  I'm sure he was stunned and pissed but they managed to work together.

For all we know they they have agreed on an assistant AD for football as a go between.

Not really. BMDs didn’t hire John Mackovic or Charlie Strong, and those were shitty hires.

Our biggest problem is we don’t use our shitpiles of money at all. We just talk a lot about them.
