One of my nephews is not enjoying himself.

Seems that when he & his wife returned home from an essential errand in a nearby town, they found their tenant dead in his room.

Coroner ruled it natural causes, as the young guy had skipped his seizure meds for several days. RIP

Haha that’s funny.  We’re coping well with it but I am ready for some normalcy.  The lack of interaction at work is a little off putting.  My kids are enjoying the hell out of it.  On line classes mean more time for hobbies and for additional classes.  Mom being an ex teacher is a godsend right now as she keeps them on a schedule and focused.

I’ve lost 9 lbs since staying at home, have only had three Bloody Marys in that time, and haven’t played a video game since Pong was introduced.

Well, live-streaming that porn channel has to be burning some calories for you. I hear that those film set lights are hot.

Checking back in: nope.  Nope.

Starting to take the first business hits (as noted, this economic hit will be trickle-up -- regular folks can't pay their bills to bigger enterprises, bigger enterprises get a cash flow pinch).

Feeling the isolation and loneliness.  Definitely going a bit stir crazy.

Not optimistic about our path forward -- we have no good paths out of this, and I think it's going to go on for a long, long time.

So....

Being seasoned citizens, we are in bed with lights out by 10:30 and wake up around 6:30, then up by 7. May vary a little bit if friskiness is involved.

This is basically my schedule too. And I’m like 1/20th your age.

Why the fuck are people waking up at 730 during quarantine month?

My job expects me to keep my regular schedule from home. So working by 7 and done by 4. And it’s mountain time, so already 9am on the east coast

Yeah, see, neither my wife nor I were  prepared to have be home schoolers.  Not. At. All.  And as mentioned already, we recently moved so school was also their way to connect and make friends (no kids their age in the vicinity even prior to quarantine).  It has been a shitshow for all of us.   Like that Gaffigan thing up above, we spent all that time trying to remove them from screens to now having to have one in front of them and check constantly as to whether they are using them for education versus goofing off. Seriously considering repeating grades next year, assuming school is back to normal by next fall, which I fully understand is a big assumption at this point in time.  This may be perhaps the biggest stressor in the family right now. The level of resentment I sense in the wife every day is while understandable, pretty scary.

I don't hate this.

Wife and I are getting along surprisingly well.

I have been working my ass off -- I got home from my office at 8pm yesterday.

I noticed I have been much more productive at the office because I don't have anyone coming by every 5 minutes to complain about bullshit like normal times.

I'm not minding it at all, other than the concerns about my career in the months ahead.  No wife and on a day to day basis, I don't have any work to be doing.  My kids are old enough to take care of their own schoolwork without any intervention on my part other than asking if it got done.  In the last few days we built a big ass wooden bike ramp for some sweet jumps, built a beer bottlecap/epoxy resin topped table for my back porch, been getting in plenty of miles on my mountain bike, watching one episode a day of Ozark and a couple other random Netflix shows, and of course keeping up with a bunch 'o assholes on here.   I'm about to head out to my garage with two beers and see what kind of shit I can fuck around with.

I feel like I'm getting more done working from home. I don't have the usual gaggle of 40 cackling hens around me that I'd have at the office. Still as @RDCanecutter said, we gotta maintain or it's pig head on a pike pretty quick.

I've noticed that crime in my neighborhood has all but gone away.  I guess you can't break into people's homes when they're at work if they're never at work.  Assault is down, along with theft, vandalism...even the homeless encampment at the entry to our little neighborhood is gone.  I'm sure shoplifting is up though since the people that used to fleece the 20 stores or so around the 'hood are all just stealing from the 3 stores that are open.

yesterday it was blustery as all fuck, so i decided to take out the parafoil kite for a fly.

kite immediately launched, and immediately nosedived into the ground.  i retrieved some of the line slack so i could tug it up against the wind.

soon as i did that, a draft pulled the damn thing to high heavens.  the line scored my fingers through the skin and damn near sliced it off.  the friction was enough to rip the line and fucking kite went out to sea.

so i went home and toyed around with the RC car a bit.

all this free time's turning me into a kid again

I overheard my wife doing Zoom therapy again in the dining room the other day. Again, she has headphones on so I only hear her side of the conversation. She had a bipolar client off meds who is experiencing pscyhosis or hallucinations or whatever, "So let me get this straight. You went to the airport and had sex with the ATM machine? "

I say, if you'd have to give a hooker money to be able to do it to her, it's sex.

hold on one fucking minute here...mitch cumsteem's wife is a fucking psychiatrist/therapist/counselor/whatever?  are you fucking kidding me?  unless this is a different mitch cumsteen than the one with the prolific history of posting pics of the batshit loon of a house he resides in due to his wife's impulsive and insane purchases....books, books should be written.

thus far, compared to what so many people have had to endure and will endure through this shitty situation, it would be impossible for me to complain about a single thing without kicking my own ass since my life has been an absolute dream compared to so many.  7 and 5 year old occasionally make things a bit of a challenge but having a first grade teacher for a wife is finally paying off.  very fortunate to own a business that can largely accomplish everything from home.  we are very exposed to o&g and ip litigation so that will be interesting to watch over the coming months.

exercise is way, way up.  i swear to god, every street in westlake looks like the boston marathon these days.  tons of time with hobbies (painted five new paintings, currently composing three or four musical projects, bought a new cello and violin at a huge discount from renowned luthier, reread confederacy of dunces this weekend for first time in a decade, working through james cassavette's filmography), and a ton of time playing with kiddos.  i suspect there will be some personal economic pain in the second half of the year and i have had to cancel two vacations (just typing that makes me want to punch my own face), getting a bit stir crazy...but, as i said, as shitty a situation as the has been for so many less fortunate people, i have absolutely nothing to complain about.  however, i won't denigrate the economic, physical, and emotional suffering so many people are enduring through this by saying "i am enjoying myself."  i'll just say i view myself as incredibly fortunate and lucky so far.  of course, at any moment, my wife could disobey one of my orders and i may have to slay that bitch with a 9mm to the skull in front of our kids as an example.

And so is the M in ATM. We don't say autopilot machine or automobile machine.

Makes me wanna throw people in the Big Rio Grande River.

Redundant?

I think the "M" stands for "Mouth."  But maybe it's like South Austin's Mom, It's basically "Ass To" wherever you want after that.  I mean she is just game for whatever after anal.

I’ve had the worst time. Having to work in close contact in a residential program, which houses murderers, and a bunch of criminals who simply can’t be released, I have to work. Not even my job, but shortage of staff, everyone’s getting thrown on the mix, to supervise these high offenders. Travis county can’t even give us masks. Like fucking shit, just because medical Masks are sold out, give us fucking something. We’re told we have to make our own. They’ve had so much time to do something about this as well. Taken a big toll in my relationship. My anxiety has risen back up. I really want stuff to open up again, but my fear keeps telling me to keep everyone the fuck inside for a lot longer. But I try to stay positive, living in round rock and going to congress takes me 30 mins instead of an hour 30 ha.
