This "perception is reality" bullshit need to stop.

Reality is reality. Quit asking people to play fair in a rigged game.

Coming back to this - I think it's a really interesting reflection of society that so many people think and live this way. In business, it doesn't matter how unsustainable and shitty your business model is - only that it's perceived as strong. Managers don't care about how much work gets done by workers, they only care how much is seen getting done.

It's a very hollow way to go through life, and makes a ton of sense why genAI is so popular. It's effective at improving the perception of workers as being productive - just as long as you never take a critical look and what's being made.

It's how MBA's earn their nut while gutting the future stability of a business - they're perceived to be experts, and so nobody bothers to challenge their idiocy and antipatterns become self reinforcing

He's a far better candidate than Cuomo. The only reason it's close is because of Cuomo's big name recognition advantage.

I’ve only been exposed to him through housing Twitter, where he is routinely dunked on, but his ads are extremely well done. Quite interesting to see a progressive surge in the NYC primary after progs got taken to the woodshed throughout other Blue coastal enclaves last fall.

Cool stuff from the great guy Andrew Cuomo that one guy in this thread really likes.

He’s a few shades lighter in the second pic so it kind of evens out

fuck him.

In November 2022, Turner disclosed that during the summer he had been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, for which he had surgery and received six weeks of radiation treatment

They would have probably whipped those GOP "Nays" if they had to.

The midterms are too far away. Trump and his cronies are moving at a lightning pace to fully take over this country.

Schumer and Jeffries cannot be the faces of the Party right now. Two bozos that are deeply embedded in the old rules and decorum of American politics. If they actually care about this country they would cede their power and allow some fresh faces to do the work needed to fight the Trump administration. People who will challenge Trump like there's nothing to lose.

That said, I don't see Dems being able to move the needle enough. This will be on us. The people have to do the dirty work to fight off authoritarianism.

On one of these threads the other day (yesterday?) there was a discussion about whether or not Obama still held much sway in the party. Scott Galloway and Kara Swisher touched on that some on their podcast today. They seem to think he is the ONLY person that could lead an anti-Trump insurgency, and they don't think he's doing enough.

Anyone that's been an extremely well known public figure for years will be worthless. Even Obama. His presidency was effectively lifetimes ago.

Swisher and Galloway are intelligent people, but fall into the same traps as everyone else. No one from the past will save us. This is completely new territory, we live in a world overloaded with information that becomes meaningless very quickly, nothing will stick. Trump is the last God in American politics for the foreseeable future.

We have to do the work. It will take the many, not an individual. I'm not sure how we do it. Maybe worth a new thread.

I can't find the post to give the poster credit, but in one of these threads someone mentioned that a candidate should announce they are running for President. I actually think this is a very good idea and maybe one of the few good things the Democratic Party can do right now.

Fuck the norms. If there are people truly planning on running in 2028, whether it's AOC, Pete, Pritzker, literally anyone...announce it ASAP. We have to show this country that there is a possible change in 2028. That there's some hope for the future. That there's an option for these dumbass Trump voters that are quietly unhappy about what's going on. Create actual opposition to Trump within the Party. They'll get tons of media attention.

Except it gives Trump a single target to spew his venom at.  And he'll make up all sorts of bullshit about them.  Truth be damned.

The Democratic Party will run the same plays they’ve been running since Clinton. Stop putting hope in those fuckers. Money has corrupted any of them that see the chance to keep their seat into retirement, with only a couple exceptions here and there.

We are, and will remain, without effective representation in opposition to the formation of the world’s first kleptocratic clown car hyperpower.

Who gives a shit. It will distract him. And it gives Dems a loud voice that gets attention. Right now it's just dozens of dipshits saying the same thing over and over again that isn't gaining any traction.

Kristi Noem says Senator Padilla was lunging toward her and did not identify himself.

Mike Johnson says he charged Secretary Noem.

When they will lie about what they know we all saw on video, we are in deep shit.  They know they can do or say absolutely anything.

I think you’re confusing the thread for Scott Galloway’s suggestion from that same podcast.  Announce now and make it about bringing justice to every corrupt administration official and start building popular support for that three years from now.

I’m not sure I agree, but I did want Biden to spend his political capital on election reform and not BBB.  Trump has sent an enormous signal to every grifter politician in the country that you can get away with it.

Good. Hogg should run for something or be an activist. Otherwise he’s just a noisemaker and has negative value in a party management role.

Good. Adopting Elizabeth Warren’s hopelessly out of touch and unrealistic “war on crypto” as the Democratic party default was political malpractice and probably put Donald Trump into the White House. Not bringing stablecoins under some kind of regulatory regime and leaving the whole question in limbo or worse, spending political capital to fight unwinnable battles that have no relevance to the bulk of your coalition is just dumb.

Thanks.

I know they won't do it, but the DNC should get together and encourage candidates to announce if they already intend on running. It'd be a clear signal to Americans that the Party understands we are in an emergency situation. I won't pretend it will solve something, but at least it's strategic and possibly slow this full and uncontested assault from Trump and his cronies.

Did I stutter? By allowing Elizabeth Warren and her 1965 GOP views on the same banking system set the agenda for the party, dems fucked themselves across the full complex of issues that touch on “crypto.”
Not only was the policy angle generally bordering on delusional, but it was also deeply politically damaging, because it was so out of touch with core, foundational parts of their own coalition, ie millennials, male ones especially, minority especially, middle income especially.

in other words, not y’all.
Nevertheless, there are more of them than there are of you, and weakness with those groups cost Harris the election and pushed the house to the R’s.
