I'm still traumatized by DB Paul Behrman biting on a pump-fake against tech in Austin that put that season into a tailspin. Everyone in the stands, including me, saw Behrman run forward at that moment, and that was the game.

November 4, 1989, at Memorial Stadium: tech 24, Texas 17

First tech win in Austin since 1967

Anthony Manyweather gets for a 65 yd TD pass from Jamie Gill.

You want to be traumatized by 1989, try reliving the Texas Longhorns recruiting video.

The middle is fine.  I know Jefferson Starship was popular but for football recruiting?  It is hard to remember and appreciate how little video media recruits were consuming in the 1980s.

"Jump" and "Dreams" by Van Halen were good ones for sports videos back in that time frame.    "Final Countdown" by Europe was another good one.

Everyone needs to sit down for this one. I mean it. Sit down. It gets real at 00:40.

north end at the Jones was $6 for grass seats in the 80's. This high schooler watched Metcalf in amazement when Texas came to LBK.  The lateral movement was insane in live football.  I would liken it to how you lose some of the actual speed on TV when hockey is played.  Metcalf was just an incredible player.  If he was on Madden, his agility would have been 138.

Compare this crap with Vince highlights in the Rose Bowl against Michigan to Thunderstruck. I wish I had not lost that video. Metcalf deserved better.

He was basically Reggie Bush without a Heisman QB  or being surrounded by an entire offense made up of NFL players.

I was there.  I was a junior in high school, and the last time Tech beat UT in Austin my dad was a junior at Tech and had made that roadtrip.

My word we used the theme song from The Mannequin movie.

Off topic, but as bad a movie as Mannequin was, I've probably watched it twenty times just cause Kim Cattrall.

Final Countdown is absurdly overplayed.  Although I guess not when it came out.

ND celebrated the end of her bowl victory drought (Aloha bowl vs U Hawaii Xmas eve 2009) with Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi.  And that was before we knew Bon Jovi jr would curiously enroll.

Coach Freeman seems a good fit for The Temptations.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

My brother-in-law is a scout for an NFL team. He travels a TON and goes all over the place. Scouts may not visit literally every school in FBS and FCS but they absolutely have not problem (and do) visit every single P5 school.  You're acting like some of the lesser Big 12 schools are end-of-the-line G5 schools; that's 100% not the case.

The idea that NFL scouts wouldn't have seen a player from a program like K-State is completely and totally false.

First part of this segment touches on the “if you’re good, the NFL will find you” fallacy, which is what I was trying to explain as it relates to why the Big 12 pro days was a great idea.

The good news is that if Texas can finally win the Big 12 again then we make it into the BCS.  So let's just finish off this final Big 12 season in style, and cap it off with another championship. One final Big 12 Championship hat... the kind we don't have a large enough collection of.

I would like to book another memory like that initial win over the Huskers made me feel... Might even stand in line again at Academy just for the camaraderie.

Lol - Paul ‘Toast’ Behrman. Good buddy of mine was summer school roommates with him at the Woo before freshman year…

Confused Joe Biden GIF by CBS News

There is a special clause in the playoff agreement that if Texas wins the big 12 and is set to be voted in by the committee, the system will temporarily revert to using the bcs model so that Oklahoma can be ranked ahead of Texas due to some nonsensical big 12 tiebreaker rule.

What's the "fallacy" in "if you’re good, the NFL will find you”. Unless I heard Pate wrong, at 3:00 doesn't he literally say it's true that the NFL will find you if you can play? His oddly stated position seems to be if you're the same player a both schools you'll get drafted higher from Georgia than McNeese State and therefore you'll make more money so you should go to the big schools.

See, now there’s an idea.

RSN’s goin broke, we pick it up, crowd source it, then fill the ad space with porn ads cause they’ll pay. Streaming only, $5/mo.

There’s a ? and a profit in those steps somewhere.
