April 23, 2025Apr 23 Popular Post On top of their historical norm of one 10 win season every decade or so, they also don't seem to get that the only times that they have ever become a "force" in recruiting is when a few things tend to line up perfectly: Texas is wrapped around the axle and has fucked itself up. They find some flash in the pan gimmick (Sumlin/Manziel) or just go all in on rampant cheating (RC, Sherrill, Jimbo, et al.). They are pushing the envelope to places that others are not willing to go (2022 class). When all three of those things are not in play, they sit at their historical mean. An above average team with no real hope for the top of the sport. When all three of those things are in play, they are an easy target for the NCAA. The legal pay for play era has done more harm for A&M, Bama, LSU, and OU than I could have ever hoped.

I would agree, but they always seem to be doing something like that. If they aren't squandering resources they are running off coaches, making general asses of themselves in a public domain, and continuing the institutional delusion of their fanbase through lies and propaganda that later gets disproven in often embarrassing ways.

I think that they point to success of guys on the Texas roster rather than mention A&M at all. "When a kid puts on the University of Texas uniform, we tell him that he's just naturally expected to believe in himself. You hear guys who went to another school in our conference—A&M, Baylor or somewhere—talk for 20 minutes on why they didn't want to go to Texas. But you'll never hear a Longhorn bother to explain why he didn't go to another school." -- DKR Still holds true today.

The funniest part is that actually overspending on a defensive line and then watching the mercenaries kill all positivity in the culture is what Elko and Fisher actually did at ATM. So, yeah, sure, Texas must be that fucking stupid as well.

Hook’em!!! No actual national championship trophy for A&M, since the Associated Press didn't start awarding its trophy until 1941 and the Dickinson System awarded their trophy to USC as the national champions that year. No player rings or watches either, since those wouldn't be in vogue until decades later. The only actual, non-retroactive trophy A&M has for their last national championship is the Sugar Bowl trophy. The players were also awarded charms for winning the SWC, and there's that infamous tapestry that's always in the signatures of the older, more deranged TexAgs posters. A little while back A&M had a football trophy exhibit at the George H.W. Bush Library. It feels uncharitable to call it 'pathetic', but it wasn't especially impressive. They put their 1941 Cotton Bowl trophy on display (from the season we defeated them 7-0, knocked them out of the Rose Bowl, and crushed their hopes of repeating for the national championship) along with a commemorative tapestry from their 1939 and 1940 seasons, a few photos from their 1919 and 1917 undefeated seasons, and various pins, rings and game balls. Most of the commemorative memorabilia for A&M's 1939 national title (i.e. the things that actually say 'National Champions' on them) are things A&M created and awarded themselves much later. For example, in 1998 A&M retroactively created and awarded national championship rings to the 26 surviving players from the 1939 team. And in 2016, when AFCA put together their short-lived 'Blue Ribbon Commission' headed up by R.C. Slocum, they awarded A&M a retroactive Coaches' Poll trophy for the 1939 season after A&M went through the process of applying for a retroactive award. The commission also awarded Okie Lite a trophy for 1945, TCU a trophy for 1938, and SMU a trophy for 1935 before AFCA presumably realized how silly the process was and stopped the project.
April 24, 2025Apr 24 Popular Post Forgot to mention, one of the placards at the A&M exhibit in the Bush library actually tried to give A&M credit for the invention of the wishbone offense. It proclaimed "The three-back set known as the wishbone was created by Texas A&M head coach Emory Bellard" with zero additional context 😒 They also had a whole section of the exhibit dedicated to Reveille. I think the only actual trophies I saw, in addition to what I previously mentioned, were the Manziel Heisman + Cotton Bowl trophies from the 2012 season, Von Miller's Butkus award, their lone Big 12 championship trophy from 1998, and some random Alamo Bowl trophy from the '90s.
April 24, 2025Apr 24 Popular Post 1) Aggie95 is 100% incorrect on the patronage of NIL for ATM. They have a billionaire funding most of it. He’s young and Forbes hasn’t caught on yet, but they’ll track him eventually. He helped sign all of Fisher’s classes and then he okayed the Fisher firing, is paying a lot of the buyout and partnered with Liucci to kill the Stoops hiring. I know the guy personally. Great dude, highly intelligent, self-made. He’s not a schmuck, though and he wants to see solid direction in the program before he lets them go nuts like 2022 again. 2) Beveridge isn’t really involved with NIL. He’s done some stuff, but with sponsorship only. Booze companies cannot be involved directly with players. This is those idiots manufacturing a premise and then committing their entire community to adopting it as fact. 3) The mention of Hildebrandt is also laughable. That dude told us “no” straight up and has had every reason one can imagine to avoid helping. Dude played at Texas and is buddies with CDC, but he’s not going to transfer any wealth to young athletes inside the machine at Texas. 4) Good luck to the imbeciles who think their 16 returners are worth a shit. This is going be hilarious. 5) For Texas, there are multiple major donors helping at this point, plus corporate, plus significant crowdfunding and mid-level donors too. Those aggies are laughably clueless and they have no idea how far behind they really are. It is gratifying to see.
April 24, 2025Apr 24 I haven't asked about who's donating in like well over a year, because I don't give a fuck, honestly. But the last time I was around ANY conversation about NIL, Beveridge hadn't donated anything to NIL because he's donated a fuck ton to the AD recently. Like 20 million or something pledged to various projects. Hildebrand, unless something has changed, hate NIL, doesn't believe in it, and has said he'd never contribute to it. So...as usual they've all made up plenty of fucking shit in their dumb little heads and it's now fact. The list of our billionaires that hate NIL on principle and won't donate is probably bigger than the ones that have/will. I'd love it if all the names I mentioned had changed their minds in the last 12-18 months, though. EDIT: Damn, missed CTJ's post by THAT much Edited April 24, 2025Apr 24 by SydneyCarton

April 24, 2025Apr 24 It's very entertaining to see them gloss over their losses on the DL, which was their one real strength last season. They have what 2 guys coming back on the interior that were in rotation last season? Then they are basically starting over at WR. They got a bunch of similar WRs, short and fast. Let's see how they do when trying to catch ducks from their QB 20 yards down the field against DBs that are bigger and more physcial than them. Their only hope on offense is built around the running game that is returning two guys coming off major injuries behind what is likely a bottom 2-3 OL in the SEC.
