To put our double digit win last year at hallowed Kyle Field into perspective, they have a grand total of 5 double digit wins against us in the last 86 years there.

And Texas has 5 double digit wins there this century alone.

I rewatched the aggie game recently (what can I say... it's the offseason).  It's crazy how they got most of the big-play breaks that night:  Texas lost a fumble on the aggie 10, threw a pick-6 on a tipped ball on their 10, and got a punt blocked that the Aggies recovered at around the Texas 20.

The Aggies got more than enough big breaks to pull off the home upset against a better team...

EXCEPT that they were physically dominated pretty much every snap all night

I prefer Elko's term

TexasAGGIEinAR seems to have accepted aggy's current reality which won't change anytime soon because, well, they're aggy. Their culture, alumni, and fan base will prevent getting top-tier, premier candidates. Plus, Trev has obviously been instructed to cut costs based on their recent Big 3 hires.

Truth be told,

A fat, balding, has-been loser, passed out by the dumpsters behind The Chicken

is absolutely perfect as a description of the average online aggy.

Maybe it's a little too long, but that in itself is a description of said aggys' attempts at prose.

If you get rid of the fatties, the bald guys and the drunks, surly would be 2 or 3 dudes discussing soccer.

In the above clip, Kendall Rogers talks about the TAMU job.  Thinks they're going after Tony V., O'Connor, and Vaughn.

In the Texags thread on this (there are many on the baseball potential opening), most seem to be realistic that TV is not a possibility.  They are really split on O'Connor (he had a similar season to TAMU this year), but those that do want him think that it's a foregone conclusion that he'll come to CS.  Not all that much talk about Vaughn, what talk there is is mostly full of disdain.

They have no idea where they fit in the college sports hierarchy.

I think it increasingly likely that they're taking fliers on these guys, will strike out, and will end up retaining Earley.  No one will want to pony up any NIL, and next year is going to be even worse.

They went after all of these guys last year.  Last year, when they had all this great talent returning, and all these guys told them no thanks.  And now they're asking again, when they're losing their top talent.  Gosh, I wonder how this will turn out?

I was unaware that Elko had been found passed out by the dumpsters behind The Chicken.  Is he okay?

It's almost like aggy doesn't expect any of these guys to call Schloss to inquire about his experience at A&M

Collie Station compares favorably to Charlottesville aesthetically, right?

Moving to Charlottesville, VA? Here's a Local's Guide

It's crazy how immune they are to the idea that their weirdo cultish behavior is a cost of doing business that few great coaches want any part of.  Schloss almost got them to the mountaintop yet bailed for their arch-rival, leaving behind an absolutely loaded roster, and somehow their administration and fans have nothing to do with that.  It was just a snake of a coach.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

on the 995 aggy screenshot thread there was a cap in the last week of an ag tag which said, paraphrased "with what we've spent on a/b/c/d/etc it's a statistical impossibility that they suck as bad as they do, school built on an indian burial ground, etc."

i've never tried to make aggy read aggypedia but that's next

Oh yes... its about fucking time the aggies started getting in the queue for the fall roller-coaster. It's as dependable as a hot Texas summer. Before the college baseball season even ends, the myth, hype and cult lather up their internal propaganda machine to create belief in "The Year". It's the time when all past blunders are swept under the rug and new "legends" of the "past" and "future" start to take shape.

This is, without a doubt, the best part of the off season.

Chris Beard to aggie?

How about we hire a deranged smoke show to get him liquor’d up and then in a fight? Somewheres around NCAAB tournament selection time.

You got my tree-fiddy.

Based on my limited knowledge, I'm pretty sure a concerted and funded effort to make this happen are completely unnecessary.

The thing is, when you're deep in a cult, you don't THINK you're in a cult. The systematic propaganda machine of the cult of aggie is that they are a top university and sports program, with unique, cool, and historically important traditions. Like any cult, the mythology is never fully revealed until you're so deep the sunk cost fallacy takes over. That sunk cost fallacy requires the one to bury the critical thinking aspects related to anything negative about the cult. Hence, "From the outside you can't understand it and from inside you can't explain it."

That is a often repeated aggie propaganda refrain that they fully accept as not a negative, rather a positive on the fundamental STRENGTHS of aggie cult culture.

It's also something you'd hear/have heard from the People's Temple, Heaven's Gate, Manson Family, Church of Scientology or Branch Dividenians.

the strongest parallel in modern american society is the belief by aggy and the brethren that each group are "the chosen people"

but the brethren have never built an empty blimp hangar for trophies

the "anointed" "god's chosen" "sleeping giant" aspect of aggy indoctrination is what causes their brain-crushing cognitive dissonance from constant and never-ending failure

for them, it truly is impossible to understand

and it's glorious to behold

i did not keep up with this thread since new years and since search sucks i can't confirm if this has been posted......

talkiebird is done on 30 june

here is the batallion recap of his time in charge which i'm sure ignores all of his greatest hits:

https://thebatt.com/news/theres-only-one-john-sharp-after-14-years-the-texas-am-systems-longest-serving-chancellor-nears-retirement/

his replacement is aggy '93 and here is his opening statement after confirmation 2 months ago:

+++

https://news.tamus.edu/glenn-hegar-named-chancellor-of-the-texas-am-university-system/

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar ’93 was confirmed Friday as the next chancellor of The Texas A&M University System by a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents.

“I am grateful and honored that the Board of Regents have entrusted me with the responsibility of leading one of the greatest university systems in the nation,” Hegar said. “Our Core Values unite us and set the Texas A&M System apart from the others, and I remain steadfastly committed to upholding and preserving those values.”

+++

he was the only finalist for the job - and that makes sense as the highest-ranking aggy in the lege who knows better than anyone else how to steal our money

but to repeat the best news, he is committed to keeping aggy aggy

I had the extreme misfortune of attending graduation at aggy a few weeks ago. Not an experience I hope I ever repeat.

It was notable for a couple of things. First, predictably, was the number of nimrods who, upon walking the stage and having their (symbolic) diploma handed, looked into the camera onstage and did the Horns down. I mean, really? Talk about living rent free.

Second, and more remarkably, were the speakers. I've been to graduations at many different universities over the years and the speeches tend to be related to a number of common and relevant topics: do good, lifelong learning, follow your passion, pay it forward, etc., etc. At this graduation we heard from the Chairman of the BOR, the university chancellor, the university president, college dean, faculty representative, student representative and president of the alumni association. In all their messages there was one common theme that, collectively, took up about 90% (generously lowballing there, if anything) of their time: How cool it is to be an aggie.

Not joking or exaggerating, even a little.

It was shocking just how inside-focused the whole thing was. Very, very little mention of anything relating to impact on the outside world.

Yes, one speaker did invoke the "From the outside you can't understand it..." trope.

They are a cult. Pure and simple and wholly undeniable.

And, of course, the whole thing ended with them singing their ode to The University of Texas and locking arms to sway back and forth. I was honored and amused.

I can't comprehend the idea of doing the work to earn a degree from a decent (yet hardly great) university and then level up the moment by "insulting" a completely different school.  Focus, people.
