Hand does not count as part of the bat. And it can’t be a HPB if he swung.   Which he clearly did. And lulz at making the call based on what you saw on the radio

i didn't say i saw it on the radio.  that would be an absurd statement.  ford and sparks discussed it for a bit, which is what i'm relating here.

15 closers better than 84%, but most of that just barely. 4 guys 90 and up. That’s the cut line I guess?  Which is basically a difference of 2 blown saves over the course of a year from elite percentage to middle of the pack?
Like I’ve said before- he’s fine as a closer.

That’s probably elite I would guess. I have not looked at numbers for a while but I thought 90% used to be considered the cut line for elite closets. Could be wrong. It’s all pretty small sample size.

I'm not going to call Ryan the best closer ever but when people complain about him I would like to hear a solution. The only thing I could think of would be Montero in the closer role. I think they are best where they are but that would be my only answer. Montero also struggled as a closer in Seattle.

He’s the best option on our roster.  Bullpen guys are so up and down from year to year that his contract and position makes sense. When you string together multiple successful years you are doing something a lot of other guys don’t.

If my team was out of contention, I’d dump as many expiring contracts as possible for any prospects

So Fiers is altruistic in his avoidance of starts against the Boys from H-town?
