Do we move our pitchforks over to the Arch Being Arch thread or is there a grace period?

Grace periods are for pussies, I'm headed there immediately.

@Fug why are you negging this? Third qb drafted us about as high as he’ll go.  Best case

My guess -- he thought you were saying you hoped Quinn could stay on with some team as the 3rd string QB.

Yes there is a grace period, it last until the first incompletion in this years spring game.

Hopefully he can be qb3 somehow

It's looking like it. Top 5 will probably be:

Ward

Sanders

Milroe/Ewers/Dart

A lot of the noise is there aren't any QBs worth a 1st round pick, but that ignores the fact that teams like to draft QBs early. At least 3 of those will go in the first round, and all 5 will be gone by the end of the 2nd round. I'd like to see Ewers heal up, do well at the combine and the on-campus workout, and get drafted in the bottom of the 1st round or top of the 2nd. Ten more pounds would be good for him and at least a year of riding the bench would be, too.

There is a pending court case against the NCAA to allow players 5 years of eligibility (not including redshirt years). The ruling will likely happen within the coming year. If this ruling happens next year, if Quinn is still playing college football, he could potentially get another year of eligibility beyond next year.
Quinn should squeeze all of the NIL money he can out of everything because once you go NFL things are very different. I want Quinn to make as much money as possible and he can do that by staying a huge college football star. He is already a very recognizable figure. I would love to see Quinn transfer to another school and take them to a conference title instead of going to some shitty NFL team where he’s going to get broken in half and not be able to play the way he used to pre-injury.

The odds of him being hurt if he were playing college ball next season are sky high.

Maybe he should ask his brother Jayden to explain it to him.

the 2 brothers look very much alike so it is easy to confuse the two.

For right now, we acknowledge the grace period,  but after his first pick, I'm keying his ride and after we win the NC, I want my picture taken with him.

People writing well-wishes and other heartfelt messages on here like the player will ever see them is so funny to me.

Dude was a great QB for us and gave it his all.  That’s everything needed to be said

What if he does read it? And it hurts him deeply that Helo does not think our messages matter?

I mean, we are the loyal fan base that will buy whatever items he markets right? New Roof? Call Quinn. Need a Buick, call Quinn.

Sorry, read it as “3rd string” somewhere, I’ll remove the neg

What if we start a petition to wish Quinn well?

How does Post-Dallas Turner Pile Driver Quinn compare to guys like David Ash and Sam Ehlinger? David was big, strong, and threw frozen ropes. His personality was a lot like Quinn. Sam was perceived to be a lesser talent than a recruit like Ewers, but he spinned the ball with more velocity and was a consistent chain mover. Sam was also a locker room dog. Quinn came into that ‘22 Bama game and threw an out route to X on the opposite hash on a line. I was convinced on that play alone he’d be elite. He then threw a dime to X down the sideline. I was certain he would be a heisman finalist at some point. Then his AC Joint gets crushed. I’m pretty certain that injury still haunts him to this day mentally and physically. In Sarks offense, I think both David & Sam would have had similar results with the 20+ NFL draft picks on the ‘23/‘24 Rosters.

I think Quinn is going to wow in workouts and combine.  Elite arm strength prior to injury.

I didn’t think the best QB on the roster started this year but I’ll root like hell for him in the league. I hope he has a long and decorated career. Seems like a great guy and loves the school I love.

Yes to the first part, no to the 2nd.  His elite talent is accuracy on screen throw placement and the intermediate throw up to 25-30 yards.  He's never been a long ball guy and he doesn't have a Favre arm to loft it 65 yards in the air.  Even back to HS the long bombs he connected on were largely jump balls.

Had a dream Quinn was drafted by Shanahan and the 49ers let Purdy walk to keep the Rookie Qb contract cheat code

Could see this happening.  Kyle is an alum and seems to be open to taking on "projects."

There's video of him throwing the ball well over 65

I'm convinced backup QB is the best NFL job you can have. Make a nice amount of scratch -- see Colt McCoy -- and exit football with your brains (mostly) intact.

I think Sark made the right decision at the time. But Ewers really needed a more lethal run game and better power game to complement his abilities. But, this offense was really average towards the end. A lot of that was the underperforming run game.

Arch could have helped defenses be more honest with his deep ball and athleticism. Or, he could have been obliterated like we saw him vs Georgia and Ohio St in limited action.

It kind of goes back to the Major/Simms debate. Mack leaned Simms because he could get it to our high powered receiving corps. But in 2001, we landed Cedric Benson. With Major, he could pick apart defenses that were keying in on the run game. Without a good run game, Major was more limited.

camp ewers would do well to reach out to the following franchises and let it be known they would be very easy to work with ($) should he land there:

bills

chiefs

eagles

49ers

packers

ravens

steelers

he needs a favre/rogers situation: 3 years to rebuild from the ground up

let us pray he does not end up with:

browns

jets

raiders

etc.

The long ball isn’t the primary measure of arm strength. Those deep outs from the opposite hash that he’s demonstrated are throws most guys are simply incapable of making.

agree. The biggest issue in that regard is Quinn rarely uncorked a throw. He just prefers to feather the ball.
