This is a fundamentally dishonest post. You should be better. Calling what’s happening here, in this community, “being mean” isn’t honest. Calling for “war” isn’t being mean.

It’s the stuff of Russian trolls or those radicalized by Russian trolls. If you’re justifiable anger has been inflamed enough that this seems reasonable, check your media consumption. Charlie Strong was a terrible coach, but dead on about social media.

This is an emotional, and possibly terrifying event. There are firm ways to deal with it without making everything worse. Whatever happened to the Biden real talk on MAGA fascism? That was great. The false dichotomy of either “start a war” or roll over is dishonest.

Your post also isn’t grounded in reality. You don’t stop a civil war by starting a civil war. This is insane. Be mean, call them terrorists, arrest them, arrest their leaders and cheerleaders, and make Fox News lose its mind, but that’s not what happened here.

Man gets MAGA radicalized in some MAGA forum and attempts to assassinate the Speaker.

Surley poster: hey guys let’s all kill red hats.

Other surley posters: totally cool. We’re just some online forum anyway.

Tell me the path where it gets better.

*will MAGA stop gerrymandering?
*will MAGA stop blocking people from voting, contesting elections, spreading election lies?
*will MAGA start running candidates that are smart, willing to compromise and move the country forward?
*will MAGA start to show compassion for vets, seniors, the poor?
*will MAGA followers start to really “do their research”?
*will MAGA followers turn non-racist, non-controlling, non-xenophobic and develop any kind of critical thinking skills?

The answer to all of these is “fuck no”

Once they get in power, they are staying in power - Until there is a real civil war. This is just the fucking fact.

German Jews -1932

WTF with blaming Jews for the Holocaust.  How about this, "“We can’t take these guys seriously. Most people are not stupid enough to believe their rhetoric. Besides we need more money and a scapegoat.  So I'll ignore the violence and don't really give a fuck if sanity if ever returns because the violence isn't directed at me."  German so called Christians-1932.

Random question.  Why the call to 911 at 2 am?  I assumed the police were automatically alerted when the perimeter was breached but that doesn't seem to be the case.  I'm also 99% certain the entire house is wired with redundant security systems, safe rooms, etc. both because they're wealthy and she's Speaker.

Maybe he forgot to turn on the system but still seems odd.

Also, no one on here has said anything about "going to war," that's your team's rhetoric.

Does it hurt to be this stupid?

It's not stupid, my friend. It's the execution of a strategy that has made a massive kidney stone out of a sizable plurality of the electorate. A stone too big to pass out of the system.

The poster is either in on the strategy or just a foot soldier completing the mission at the tactical level. Flippantly repeat a lie to enrage us and reinforce belief in the lie among the truly ignorant, that's the simple strategy that has almost totally destroyed a fairly functional republic.

Not stupid but way worse. A person chooses to abandon personal integrity or moral value to promote his team's jersey and/or to actively harm the United States. It's another form of stochastic sabotage writ small.

I say this because it is obvious that D's have no clue how to combat disinformation and the fact that there is nothing R's won't do to win.

The Dems play politics and government. The GOPs play propaganda and insurrection.

A political party isn't usually designed to wage war. Facts and policy achievement easily favor the Dems. It. Doesn't. Matter. That's no longer the great game.

The great game is pro-republic vs anti-republic. Looking to a political party that has not grasped this just as most of the population hasn't grasped it is playing the wrong game.

The Dems are in a box. If they play exactly like the GOPs, then the republic is lost. If they try to steer the conflict back to civil discourse and politics pre-fascist GOP, their efforts will be futile.

It's mortifying that I can't really see how any organization other than law enforcement has a chance to stop this trend. And we see how that's going.

You condescend with the best of 'em.

Your premise seems to be that we were all content thumbing our nuts and going about our business when, suddenly, we hear of this attack on Pelosi and all become ravingly angry. I don't think you're dishonest, so I won't neg you for such an errant grasp of the sentiments on this board.

Go back to Kushner and Flynn dancing with the Russians just prior to Trump taking office. That's a good starting point. Maybe look at Trump's special relationship with Putin. It kind of gives you the impression that just maybe these guys aren't on our side.

Look at the pictures of gun-toting MAGAs at capitol buildings. Charlottesville. GOP corruption of the process of approving Supreme Court Justices. Gerrymandering the House so that it can be more like the Senate that represents about one third of the people. The mass murders of people of color. Running Kamala Harris' bus off the road just down highway in Texas.

Jan. 6. & Jan. 6 apologists. Death threats to anyone who tells the truth about Jan. 6. Attempts on the lives of political leaders.

Get out of your bubble more.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’m surprised they don’t have private security. They can afford it and SF is now known for crime, mental illness, addiction etc.

Also he’s a right wing nudist from Berkeley that lives in a hippie collective that has BLM signs in the window.

That's a pretty stark headline when one considers the implications of an attack like that on an elected official.

There's no place for victim-blaming in any scenario where personal safety is jeopardized, but I also think it's near equally crazy that Pelosi is still in office.  Her term has become one of serving the people, to serving women, but now to serving herself.  That we don't have voters or legislation to get her out of Washington is astounding.

I have a massive disdain for career politicians, regardless of which color crayon that leader gargles.  She's become toxic for Dems and reckless with her handling of the Taiwan trip to sparring over Congress members trading equities. Three decades in Congress and 15 years serving caucus, with an adamant position not to step down, is too much.

Do you activate your security when you are at home? Or just before going to bed? Do you arm it, or does your spouse? People get complacent, and also make mistakes.

Any of these possibilities is more likely than a false flag deal, with brain surgery consequences.

Negged for obfuscation. These seem to be the only elements of evidence you want to look at, and they're just guesses based on appearance.

Why ignore the culprits own words from looking for Nancy Pelosi and social media? Why not listen to those who know him?

It’s really weird. They have an intense congressional detail outside when she’s in town, to the point where you’re kind of afraid to stare at the house, but apparently SFPD is too short-staffed for a detail when Nancy is out of town. I don’t know why they wouldn’t pay for one given the events of the past few years.

Also, Fox may be having a field day but the Chesa Boudin butthurt is strong right now.

Given how in the bag for the right wing law enforcement is, and that private security is likely consisted of law enforcement or people who couldn't hack it in law enforcement, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a slow response to anything that came in.  But it's far more likely to be Hanlon's Razor combined with a large segment of the population, probably including the first responders here, who have become inured to political violence than any deep conspiracy.

Yes, 82 year old zillionaires, who have been married 59 years to the same woman with whom he has fathered 5 children, often have gay affairs with 42 year old hippie nudists who traffic in radial conspiracy theories.  Makes sense.

Democrats don't deserve to be safe in their homes because they're radical socialists who want to abolish the police.

An 80 year old man gets attacked in his home by a man with a hammer who'd actually come to kill the victim's wife.

The 80 year old man is

  • A queer meeting a younger man and getting rolled.
  • Part of a false flag attack where he consented to be beaten to the point of requiring brain surgery.
  • At fault for not having better security.
  • A victim of "defund the police" (which is not about abolishing the police).
  • Not the victim of a MAGA radical because the attacker was a nudist living in a commune with a BLM sign in the yard.

Hi there! I'm a Republican! I lie my ass off all the time, and I don't care who it hurts so long as I benefit or am fooled into believing I benefit.

Nothing bad enough can happen to villains operating as described above.

Just this week, Ilhan Omar was absolutely blasted by right wing morons for having security at her home - the whole “YOU HATE GUNS YET YOU HAVE PRIVATE SECURITY!” bullshittery.

Nancy Pelosi has been a powerful Democrat for literally decades - and a lightning rod for the right for just as long. But until Trump and his brigade of violent asshole minions, the day to day safety of her family wasn’t a real concern.

Her husband has never really been part of her public political life - I doubt most people even knew what his first name was or what he looked like until now.

This new breed of crazies - thanks to right wing online hate gatherings - research and spread their information. Now one dedicated nutso with good research skills (or access to law enforcement databases - Trumpy elements in the Secret Service or FBI or local agencies?) can spread their findings to thousands.

I also imagine it’s pretty difficult to persuade a rich ass 80 year old man to allow security precautions to invade his home and life.

Anyone trying to find a small crack to obfuscate and muddy the waters on what this actually is - an attempted assassination on the third in line to the presidency - is shitferret of the highest order.

I'll go one further, because you'd better ponder the theme:  is this what pitchforks look like?

Members of Congress amass massive sums of money on the backs of our misery.  Kavanaugh is a sexual assaulter.  These figures are political "lifers" who haven't enacted legislation to keep themselves honest, or even limit the term for the people they serve.  We are supposed to be a polite society, but if we can't be fucked to drag out the guillotines, at least recognize the issue of crazies attacking politicians as a "problem," instead of more school kids.

I jest, but wouldn't be surprised to discover Paul's attacker as a Junior Trading Analyst at a wealth management fund.

Why are you complicating the fact that a dude attacked the husband of second in line to president, looking for her?  If you don't want the left up in arms, don't fuck around and find out.  When the dude shot up the softball game, the consensus was "lock that dude up".  That's not the consensus here on the right.  This country is fucked because 35% of it is some combination or racist, stupid and evil.  And another 30% can't be bothered when the rubber meets the road.

Yep. When the asshole shot up the softball game, the near total consensus at the time was “nip that shit in the bud, that’s bad shit.”
Today….the GQP either deflects or gloats, MAYBE after saying “that’s bad, BUT….”

We've already covered the sham justifications from the right.  When reality becomes too much for them, they result to conspiracies.

The 30% "can't be bothered" because Politics have become a sport, while the corruption within our own system runs so deep, the recurring theme must cover whichever Congressman has taken the podium of fleecing America and whichever lobbyist keeps it rolling.

And you wonder why Libertarians have a platform, why youth voter turnout is a problem, and why a bright, young, democrat candidate in Andrew Yang became disillusioned with his own party to go fuck off with David Jolly and found a new platform.

I questioned the motive that Libertarians have as a platform altogether, not justified them.  I'll give them the nod that ever expansion of government isn't exactly a good thing.

Yang was a 2020 Democrat Presidential Primary candidate, so are you paying attention?  I enjoyed his debate, among Buttigieg's, as D candidates to at least shake up the established.  Biden was still the right nominee, and the centrist we all knew him for.
