i did enjoy how they tried to offset beth's shitty attitude by having 2 attractive women just completely throw themselves at men.

jamie's arc is all the fuck over the place.  i was bitching last season about how they just continue to beat him up, which is a plot device that bothers me no matter how unlikable the character is.  it's unpleasant tv, which is the opposite of what i need a show like yellowstone to be.  if i need to get kicked in the nuts, i'm sure another season of handmaid's is coming soon to a hulu near you.

he's adopted, he ruined beth's life, everyone thinks he should kill himself.  cool.  he seems to have righted the ship a bit.  he passed john and kayce's loyalty test with flying colors and had his dipshit pops at gunpoint, until he predictably broke down.  then, lo and behold, john decides to run for governor just to keep jamie from winning (wtf) and now of course he has the final motivation to join coach yost and turn against the only family he's ever known.

kinda bummed he's not gonna be governor, because i know that's a dream he's had since...earlier in the episode.  oh well, at least he seems to be upping his peek-a-boo game.

meanwhile, beth has this whole speech about why john needs to be governor, as if a 67 year old with a variety of health concerns isn't just the ideal candidate (i'm for no progress lol).  so apparently the governor possesses a lot of power that can help yellowstone accomplish what they need to, which begs the question - why aren't they getting the current governor (and john's ex) to do those things right now?

it's only yellowstone i guess.  as long as i get 8 minutes about what the fucking dog's name is and another 19 minutes advertising every other sheridan show (not counting the dozens of commercials) then what more can i ask for?

p.s. the 6666 logo treatment is dogshit.

That might have been the worst episode of all seasons.  Lot of cringe worthy scenes.  Very predictable...cheesy at times.

-Love at first sight? random/forced

-Tricking Jaime to think he is being endorsed? really? lame.

-Tired of how they are trying to teach this kid...they address him everyday..."how he working out?" or "Be sure to be here early and late?"

Lotta cowboying and horse porn.  Did you guys know cowboying is really hard? In all honestly I enjoy learning some horse/ranch cowboy things.....but they are beating us over the head sometimes.  Or maybe it is just bothering me bc I really want something to happen with the plot....and nothing is really happening.

No more Jimmy, please.

Great first 2 eps then gradual decline....

last season ended with a coordinated attack on the entire family, which if it happened in real life, would've critically injured or killed all targets.  a couple months later everyone seems fine and they're not even going after the people behind it anymore.  oh well.

Well supposedly he will be on the 6666 spinoff so hopefully that means he won't be on Yellowstone much. But the only spinoff I might be interested in would be a Mo spinoff, that guy seems pretty interesting. So I am on board for more Mo and less Jimmy.

The plot in this show is mostly terrible. Agree that it is a soap opera disguised as a modern western.

Market Equities taking control of part of the ranch seems to be the biggest plot going but it disappears for episodes at a time. I can’t even remember the current status because the plot is so intermittent, but they are building a ski resort and a casino and an airport with 52 gates! That’s bigger than AUS for a ski town. And apparently Beth is going to derail that from the inside but it’s absurd that ME allowed her into their extended organization in the first place.

Beth being an over the top bitch repeatedly and giving a rant of her wisdom to a random character is incredibly tired. Maybe there are some middle aged female viewers who are into this. Kinda feel bad for them. She had potential to be a great character but they’ve made her a caricature of a powerful woman.

That poor bastard kid should go back to foster care.

Jayme keeps getting shit on. He sucks as a character and I realize Beth hated him, but I didn’t think John actually hated him. Yet John and the same governor who was about to endorse him decided to totally blindside him because I guess Taylor Sheridan thought that dramatic twist with no rational purpose would entertain viewers.

Speaking of Taylor Sheridan, his presence has been kept to a minimum the last 2 eps which helps a little because his auto-fellatio brings the show down, but it is bad for my Yellowstone bingo card which has a square for “Taylor Sheridan spinning horse” and another for “Taylor Sheridan states the cost of something”.

And I thought John Dutton hired Sheridan and a bunch of expert cowboys to develop show horses or cutting horses as a way to financially save the ranch? Is that even a plot anymore? Not that I really miss it because multiple scenes of guys stopping a horse in the dirt was not entertaining.

Kayce helping get the wild horses back with a secret method (more horses!) and then he has marital drama because an attractive Native American girl thinks she had love at first sight for him. Okay?

I think 1883 has potential to be a better show, hopefully closer to a Lonesome Dove without the modern day plot bullshit. That said, every preview with Faith Hill narrating sounds awfully similar to Dolores from Westworld.

Jamie’s baby momma I’m Seasons 1 & 2 was smoking hot in the dresses they put her in. She is back now but not at the same level of hotness which needs to be rectified immediately.

This is 100% correct.  Some of those scenes from those early seasons...anyway, I'll be in my bunk...

I know John said Teeter could move back in the bunkhouse, but what's the troublemaker doing back? Did I miss something?

We said the same "hey wth is that chic still allowed in? SHE was the reason"

Not that I don't mind seeing her in those jeans..but this show isn't consistent.  John didn't even know about the brands??

Yea I knew it was a new spinoff coming, and I am interested.  But I figured they gave enough setup already for this when they dropped Jimmy off.  Now we spend every episode watching him there.

And they have a 6666 chic hitting on Jimmy like he is a big catch....AND she looks similar to his buckle bunny lol  (this Texas version is cuter though).  That goofy mfer lol

There have been a couple of scenes where she's helped and a couple where she was ineffective.  There's also prob quite a bit of gray area in which she might be able to do more, but isn't as highly invested as John would be in fighting a particular cause.

Really getting tired of Beth. They drove her attitude off of a cliff and turned her into a one-dimensional, vulgar monster.

@henrygandorf you may see coach host, but I see Atlee from the gone in 60 seconds remake and I expect him to have a barn full of cars.  And his character has no business on this show. Huge mistake to have Jamie latch onto him due to paternity.

Exactly.   Dressing up the cowboys shirts with the brand...not happening outside of a ranch roundup setting  (the competition...not the every day task of gathering cattle).

Glad they rectified the injustice of Teeter being sent off in the last episode. That pissed me off all week since it completely ran counter against the importance and meaning behind being a branded man. John not knowing everyone in the bunkhouse except the buckle bunnies have been branded was an interesting development. Was there a reason behind Rip not telling him or was it just a result of all the shit that went and him being away in the hospital and not knowing all of the story.

Rip said she got branded the night before John got shot, so he never got told.

I feel like this season is just one long advertisement for Sheridan’s 3 new shows.

1883 and 6666 will be must watches. Passed on the prison series with Jeremy Renner. He has hit on a formula that makes viewers yearn for the real America found in Montana. The America of our past which we should still be proud of. Where our ancestors settled and created a great nation out of an untamed continent. To paraphrase Dan Jenkins from season 1, humans throughout the millennia have been inspired to find new land to settle. This show kindles that spirit. Talk to anyone who watches this show, we all want to go Montana to check it out.

Ahhh yes, the real America with rampant murder, Heat-style shootouts in small town streets, murder-for hire plots, corporate greed, corrupt politicians, poor treatment of Native Americans, and just a general sense of people being cunty towards one another.

You just described the Wild West era which still grabs the hold of our imagination and this show taps into it

if they take 1883 in a deadwood direction, great.  it will help overcome the fact that the two leads aren't, what's the word...actors.  i'll give it a shot, but expectations are low.

as for 6666, it seems more like constant cowboying shit and a bunch of taylor sheridan cameos.  no thanks.

mayor of kingstown checks a lot of my boxes but the reviews have been miserable, so i haven't even started it.  i have no reason to think sheridan + paramount plus = some sort of quality factory.  guess we'll see.

This has always been a 4 episode per season show. First two and last two. Every season. Middle is just filler.   I put up with the middle for the bookends.

I think season 3 was pretty solid all the way thru...dealing with Beck Brothers, Militia, Market Equities, Wade Morrow, and those bikers.  Lot of attacks and revenge in that season.

Season 3 is what gave the show a lot more buzz and people started watching (going back to beginning).

Season 4 is just meh.  Are Duttons just going to forget about Jaime's talk with the prisoner who set up the hit on them?  Have they even asked him about what he found out.  Guess they really want Jaime and Dad to be the new villians.

That's what my buddy thinks - setting up a Jamie vs. Duttons showdown.

I have not really tracked with why John has completely ostracized Jamie and continues to just fuck him over for no reason. Does he not realize Jamie knows where the bodies are buried? WTF wouldn't he just get behind Jamie for governor ... that would have caused Jamie to dump bio-dad and go all in for the Yellowstone, but Beth + John's pride too much of a siren. Seems like Jamie has done nothing but be a loyal solider even though he always gets treated like crap by everyone but Kacey.

I finished the first two seasons over the last 10 days while recovering from surgery. Pretty sure the Beck bros. were limited to season 2.

I hope season 3 is better than the first two seasons. The writing is pretty terrible and ham-handed so far.

The cowboying shit in Yellowstone reminds me of the Top Gun volleyball scene and vampire baseball in Twilight. (WWDITS did a much better job in parody).

I forgot the reason for that as well. At one point he suspected Jamie of being involved in the attacks on the Dutton family but I thought they settled that. Was there some other major grievance between John and Jamie that I’m forgetting?

I’m not buying Jamie as the final villain in all of this. He’s just a limp dicked character that gets continually shat on and makes bad decisions, so to have him turn into a villain for lack of better options is a pretty lame excuse for a villain.

Yeah, he needs to have Beth turn heel and drag Rip down with her.

Jamie had potential to be a great villain, family dynamics, scorned son, Wes Bentley.  This show has been lacking a great villain since season one-Gil Birmingham and Danny Huston.  Blondie from Justified is a great talent, but was wasted.  Taylor Sheridan’s dancing ponies showcases his cowboy douchebag factor
