Wasnt at the game. But think the boos were also. at the offense and playcall on 4th down.

3rd and 5 and the play call was fine. Arch just tried his hardest to throw it to the other team.

Manziel won a heisman being a drunk cokehead all season. Maybe getting lit more would get Arch to stop thinking and just fucking play

If it really is neuropsychological (the yips) then continuing to throw Manning out there before he gets treatment is actually harmful to his development.

Yep this is exactly what I read today when I learned about the yips.

Earlier this year I developed the yips in putting. I think I posted about it at the time in the golf thread. It was terrifying. I had no muscle control over the putter at times. One round I five putted three greens. He doesn’t have the yips. He’d look even worse than he does.

They don't always come all at once. It's possible he's developing them right now in front of our eyes. Obviously being an armchair psychiatrist isn't the best use of anyone's time but he has had a lot of pressure on him for a while. It's actually a possibility.

It’s sort of insane to me that anyone would argue he doesn’t have the yips. We have objective evidence that he’s a serviceable to good quarterback against soft teams. He has made the throws before. He has played with confidence before. We’ve seen it in real live SEC games. He very, very obviously has something going on mentally, aka the yips. It should be obvious to anyone who has played any sort of sport even casually.

I think it makes the most sense. I can’t believe he is this inaccurate in practice.

If we want to relate to golf, the yips usually show up when you’re playing. Warming up and practicing usually aren’t a problem.

There are varying degrees.  And also there aren’t 80

people counting on you to make a putt while running from 11 big guys that want to kill you

Guys this isn't the early 2000s or 90s. The nutrition and S&C teams have all kinds of sensor data and take all kinds of measurements and levels daily.

If Arch was hung over and fucked up all the time it would be showing up all over the place.

I can believe that he parties, but come on knock it off with that being why he can't hit the broad side of a barn and go 10 incompletions in a row against UTEP. Seriously shut it down on this angle.

Tech or not, he's 20-something.  A 20-something can drink like a fucking fish and still be about 90%+ functional.

IYKYK.  And really, most of us know.

Seems quite plausible.  OSU was stoutish competition, hyped at least, nerves, and expectations.  He thought he'd shake it off against a creampuff and it didn't happen, and expectations and the reality of QB1 without a suitable fill-in started to hit, bingo-bango here we are.

It feels to me like he's kind of rushing throws, not because of pass rush, or even serious problems with reads, but like "ok here it is, whip it out NOW" and maybe that's leading to mechanical issues.

Looks like the opposite to me. Like he’s over thinking and over processing every scenario. How many times does he have 5+ seconds in the pocket and he misses 1 or 2 wide open reads just to side arm huck it at a someone who is covered? He cannot take the easy, obvious read, and when he does he’s seems to be trying so hard that he just turfs it or sails it over a dudes head

Same thought for me. One of his best throws was when a blitzer came through untouched and he had to get rid of it.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but we have seen it with MLB infielders, when they lose the ability to make a clean throw in the infield.

I don’t know, just think it makes the most sense. He wasn’t nearly this bad last year and he can’t be this bad in practice.

The bigger question is, how is it handled going forward?

How are we inside the Top 15 ??

Even with an amazing defense & punter, we have no passing game.

Go team!

I think it’s the yips. Mechanics are off from last year. He looks lost. No attitude like last year. You can tell he is coming off the field and doesn’t know what is going on. Hopefully he gets help and gets better.

Yep.  Either yops or injuries.   Nobody would start a qb this bad

Can we place some of the blame on Warby Parker? Maybe Arch had less than successful lasic surgery in the off-season?

I mean, we know squints eyesight devolved after he left high school so..

None of this makes sense to me, how can he possibly be more accurate as a backup, and then regress after an entire off-season and fall camp as the starter?

The alcohol thing is so dumb. Obviously it's barely worth addressing because of the nature of the rumor, but we'd all go to the mat defending the case for Vince Young as the GOAT of college QBs. I'm sure he developed that drinking habit after college, right?

This dude hates his life

He should take a gap year and go travel the world, bungee jump off of a bridge in New Zealand, ride an alpaca 🦙 in Peru, hang with penguins 🐧 in Patagonia, and work on a vineyard 🍇 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.🇿🇦

He needs a break.

Nah, suck it up. Use the hate to fuel your greatness, do this for another 10 years, then take the two hundred million dollars you've made and do all that alpaca shit with the rest of your life.

This is definitely true.  He did throw some short passes sidearm last year but his default motion was with his arm in an L shape - I.e. ball overhead.  Now seems like everything is sidearm.  If he’s not hurt, then it goes back to footwork.  Sidearm enables shitty footwork.  They should be chewing his ass when he doesn’t square his shoulders on film and in practice.

Maybe he's just not that good.

he’s worse this year than he was last year, so no, “he’s just not that good” isn’t the answer. he has regressed, majorly, and his throwing motion is awkward and different from what it was last year. the “maybe he’s just not that good” crowd sound like some really really hopeful quinn apologists.

ASSUMING (1) he's not hurt (2) QB2 is being prepped (3) sark needs to favor the run game anyway

A few successful designed runs against SHSU to move the chain might just unfuck his mental state and get him back to slinging the rock properly.

Many of the sidearm throws are a function of trying to thread between defenders, or as a necessity of moving on the run and not being able to set his stance. Theyre no longer an indictment of poor QB mechanics in modern football.

What is, is the indecision or inability to find receivers, which necessitates running from the pocket in the first place.

His motion looks normal on the corner attempt to Wingo and the post to Livingstone.  But both sailed deep because he's probably disturbed in the head and afraid of INTs.

I've got it... Arch needs to have an Ayahuasca trip and purge his demons, become enlightened. I know some people in the area who could hook him up. We get this corrected before Florida maybe, for sure during the bye week in time for OU. 😉🤘🏾

Doesn't ayahuasca make you lose control of your bowels and shit all over yourself?  I think we've seen quite enough of that from Arch already.

Arch looks broken. He has 0 confidence in what he is doing. It is like the QB version of Chuck Knoblach. Nothing on the offense looks right. I have no idea what the offensive staff did this fall camp. The offense does not do anything well.

The longer a qb is in sark's system the worse he looks. Could it be a strength and conditioning issue? Like lifting too much or too heavy?

You think Quinn regressed because he was lifting too much? What?
