So- 4 competent pitchers in a row and we go 3-1. So- awesome idea with the 6 man rotation- have to make sure we get non competitive starts 1 out of every 3 days. It’s not like we are 10 games under or anything.

Would be amazing if we can win 3 of 4 and put some pressure on those damn A's.

Man, if we could have seen the future a year ago, and we'd seen this post, we'd all have been like, "How the hell did the A's get good so fast?"

Next 13 games are crucial.  4-9 or worse and they are truly buried.  10-3 or better and they are back in it and likely playoff bound.  5-8 or 6-7 and things are still desperate.  7-6, 8-5, or 9-4 and they will have momentum but still be on a short leash of hope.

7th in HRs

5th in OBP

7th SLG and OPS

…..14th in runs

On the other side of the ball:

ERA: 28th

WHIP: 28th

BAA: 25th

So, it's a better-than-average offense that strands too many runners, and therefore is only average at scoring runs, combined with one of the worst pitching staffs in the league.

Yeah, that'll get you 10 games under.

Imagine how they would be if your 3rd baseman could get the ball out of the infield.

He's killing this team hitting in the middle of the lineup.

Remember in little league when there were players that were considered "automatic outs"?

That's Bregman and he should be hitting 9th until he figures it out.

Man, with all the roster moves, I thought we had sent Arrighetti down.

talk about a Monday downer seeing him as the probable starter tonight. Sigh

at least he’s opposite Stripling. All he did last time out was give up 11 in 1.2 (although only 5 were earned)

So using the Mexico series as a turnaround point and projecting the winning percentage since then (.570), the team should reach .500 around the last week of July and will top out at 85 wins.  That ain't gonna get you into the tournament, so they have to hit the accelerator a bit harder and hit no bumps.  .600 ball gets us to 88 wins which is still iffy.  Gotta play .650 for the rest of the year to be in a relatively comfortable post-season position with 94 wins.

The historically good news for this franchise is that they won't hit the nadir of the 2005 team of 15 under at the 45 game point unless they drop five straight.  But if that happens, the tombstone will probably be right this time.

They don't have the pitching for that.  They can't go more than 3 or 4 games without a starting pitcher shitting all over themselves.

Glad we are going to a 6 man rotation so we can get Brown and Arrighetti out there every third day.
