He is from Florida, so FIU or FAU would be a good destination for him. He should be able to get more playing time at one of those schools

Not really a surprise.  Hopefully there are no long term lingering issues with his injures that are slowing him down/reducing reps and  he catches on big elsewhere as long as they are not a future opponent of ours.

Looking forward to seeing Clark get more carries.  I'm also curious about Rickey Stewart, I think we have a lot of talent just sitting on the bench.  Of course, we need our OL to improve.

Happy Trails, Baxter....... we hardly knew ye

Good luck to CJ. Great dude and I hope he finds success and playing time somewhere.

Sark tried waaaaaaay too hard to give him snaps this year, to the detriment of the RB room IMO. Glad we can all move on.

Trying to remember what’s going on at FAU so I looked it up

Florida Atlantic:

On December 1, 2022, Florida Atlantic announced Tom Herman as their next head coach. Herman replaced Willie Taggart, who was fired after three years with the Owls.

Herman was fired during his second season on November 18, 2024, after starting the season 0–6 in conference play and 2–8 overall. In just under 2 full seasons at FAU, his overall record was 6–16, and 3–11 in conference play.

Good Luck to CJ!  I hope he avoids the injuries that plagued him here. Expected news for Trey Owens. Good Luck to him as well.  Any news on Wisner yet>  I have been hearing rumors that he's opting out.

Good luck to him.  He’s definitely going to have to find that bit of extra effort or that dog in him as the kids say if he wants to have success anyway.  Even before the injury his YAC was terrible, I was amazed everyone thought he was going to come in this year and be really good.

One of my favorite Longhorn players I've been fortunate enough to hang with. Really, really nice guy and I hope he finds success in football and post-football with his apparel brand.

relieved to have that spot open up though, it was painful to watch.

Good luck in the future.  I know you wish things would have gone differently from the health perspective.  Hook'em!

Is he still dating the hot great softball player....can't remember her name?

Why would he leave? He's not NFL ready.

Nobody on the current roster will supplant him. By now, he's gotta know he's not gonna be an every down NFL back. I can't see another team offering him more for NIL, either.

Funny, but he actually averaged 4.5 YPC for his career and 3.6 this past season. It just seemed much lower.

Nice guy, good teammate, but he isn't what we need moving forward.

Because he wants to actually play football and Texas needs to build up an elite backfield. Sark let him know his time wouldn't be here found forward.

People don't talk about it but Tashard Choice was a shit RB evaluator. Very good coach,  but he can't identify elite RB talent in HS kids for shit. His place is the NFL.

Our room is in shambles. We have to land a major league portal RB to go along with possibly Wisner and Cooper as the big time freshman. Then keep developing Simon. If Clark sticks around he provides depth.

I hope he goes somewhere else and balls out as long as it isn’t OU or Aggie or pig I guess.

Good point.

Maybe CJ doesn't trust or expect Flood to fix the OL anytime soon.

Texas RB transfer CJ Baxter commits to Kentucky

Former Texas running back CJ Baxter has committed to Kentucky out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Baxter is a former five-star recruit. The Wildcats and new head coach Will Stein beat out Indiana for his services. Baxter also visited Colorado during his portal recruitment.

Matt and Myron were talking about this on the radio this morning. He made the announcement during the UK basketball game in front of the crowd from what they were saying.

Well, that's probably the biggest crowd he'll see in Lexington.

I love CJ Baxter and wish him success. One of the best Longhorns I've met. I am worried that his injuries are career-altering. He's smart enough to have been planning a career beyond athletics. Godspeed and I hope he can turn it around. Let's go!!!!!
