But SoCal construction COSTS are through the freaking roof.  This will not help.

That would be one of the issues for sure; however, with a weakening construction market (other external factors) I’m not sure today that ice-induced labor constraint (if any) is a driver.

At least in the deals that come thru our shop

This just started happening though right?  I can’t imagine having the labor pool be decimated (even if they aren’t picked up by ICE, they may not come into work based on fear) would be helpful.

Yeah, I don't think the impacts will be felt for awhile.  There have only been a handful of permits issued in Altadena.  The labor demand hasn't begun to be felt.

But any business can deny service to anyone they choose.  Can they not deny access to anyone they choose?

The concept here is that agents cannot commit a trespass when executing an administrative/immigration warrant.

You can commit a trespass once a property owner tells you to leave and you do not.  So, at least theoretically you can put ICE agents in a trespass situation by telling them to GTFO.

And I think the "no masks" rule works the same way:  you may be asked to leave or remove your mask, if you do not, you become a trespasser.

But it may be too late, and the scenario is clearer if they aren't allowed in in the first place.

ICE is a military force. And by budget size, it’s something like the 5th largest in the world.
It’s insane. We are a militarized police state, geared entirely at xenophobia.

Need a Edvard Munch Scream horror reaction for this shit. As awful as it is now, they've not even begun to build their deportation force. This kind of budget suggests they intend to remove literally everybody. Just imagine the effects of such a massive displacement of people. Millions being forced to abandon their lives here and ending up somewhere else with almost no resources to resettle. What happens to their homes, their other possessions, their kids, their pets? How fucked will things be in the countries they're sent to? How do countries with far fewer resources address an influx of millions that'll have almost nothing? These fascist motherfuckers aren't the least bit concerned with any of this. They're only thinking about how to put their fingers in the eyes of people they hate.
