Yeah, giving Trump a lifetime appointment probably was a mistake.

Counterpoint: if he chokes on a Big Mac this week, that appointment ends this week.  So....there's that.

My wife works in a construction related field. She's told me that, while they currently haven't lost work, they're having to work much harder to secure jobs. Her company is also looking to cut costs everywhere, notably cutting the company contribution to health care.

A friend of her's that also works in a construction related field said she's seen a big slow down in work for her company.

Another friend works in steel purchasing. She's seen a big slowdown there, especially compared to the past few years.

Health care costs to employers are skyrocketing this year.  You can thank the "Big Beautiful Bill."  It issued a SMOOOOOOTH buttfucking to healthcare insurance premiums across the board.  Every employer I know is 1) going to take a beating and absorb some of those costs, and 2) pass some of those costs on to their employees, because they're just to high to eat all of em.

It is common knowledge among mildly educated folks that business prefers stability and predictability.

That applies to all aspects of the law.  Which is why lawyers have been tearing their hair out for a while.  Nothing but "crazy Ivans" from the POTUS kills predictability.  Calvinball from the courts kills predictability.  Can't tell you how many lawyers I know who are so frustrated by our inability to advise our clients on what the law is/how a case should go.  When you have to tell them "well, the case law says it should turn out like X, but if Fox News gets hold of it, the Fifth Circuit is going to do somethin utterly wacky," that sucks.

There's really nothing good about this timeline.

Unless, of course, the Big Mac thing happens.  That would be nice.

@Brisketexan

I agree with you on damn near everything but I’m call bullshit on lawyers want consistency.
Hell, your clients don’t listen to you anyway and are going to do what they want to.

Your clients are likely MAGA as well.

Why not just, advise on case law, lose, appeal, and rake in the hrs?

Although the Supreme Court is kind of raining on your parade by allowing all this shit to go into effect and ruling on all these cases on the shadow docket. I can see where that sucks the big one. That’s like completely negating the district court, multiple appellate courts, and all those billable hrs never realized.

The Robert Court taking some serious bread from y’all.

Is no one thinking of the lawyers?!

ART OF THE DEAL !!!!

Trump is ultimate short term thinker. He gives zero fucks about tomorrow. Take his recent grab for $100K for each H1B visa holder. Who cares if you start pushing some of the world's smartest people to other countries like China. That will be someone else's problem in 15 years. Instead he can brag about how he earned the govt $100B in fees, or whatever. And MAGA will refuse to acknowledge that Americans paid that fee (tax.)

He will ruin as many markets for US farmers and companies like he did with soybeans in his first Admin.

America is being run like a business— that’s been acquired by private equity and is being stripped for parts. This isn’t exactly new— corporate America has long treated their sector that way— but it’s now the entrenched worldview of the highest level of government.

Anything of value or functioning is going to be seen by the regime as a failure—because it represents a loss of short term profit to keep it. It’s best to adjust accordingly and try to make out as best as you can in the coming years. Look for exposed copper wiring.

Given that we have 3+ years of Trump, I imagine he will eventually turn to selling off federal lands including national parks. Perhaps he will require some of the buyers to retain the land as a for-profit park, but even that would have a time limitation on it.

We've already gone full-on "Ministry of Truth."  Fantastic.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

And I'm sure CNN didn't dare to suggest even the possibility of it being bullshit.

It's pretty rare for trial counsel/their firm to also handle an appeal.

And just so everyone is clear, this includes labor, peasants.

It ESPECIALLY includes labor.  In Trumpmerica, human beings are opex, not capex.  Capex items are things you invest in, build, and maintain.  Opex is just an expense to be slashed as much as possible, and then slashed again.

We the people are a cost center to be reduced, not a resource to be invested in.  Proceed accordingly.

Hell, we're even risking total destruction of our species to do so, with the development of artificial superintelligence.

It's actually fascinating that the same dipshits screaming about "we're headed for a population collapse!  BREED MORE!" are simultaneously working to make human existence as miserable as possible, and working on ideas that will (1) enrich them in the short term while (2) creating material risk of our collapse/extinction as a species.

And the masses gobble it up.  We are marching to our own doom with smiles on our faces, and we reflexively attack anyone who dares say "hey....maybe we should pause and think about this."

To dumb it down more.  What is a human's most important biological/evolutionary competitive advantage?  Simple...the human brain.

If they could make a decision like that can you imagine a bunch of cheetahs sitting around and saying "we're gonna build an animal that hunts, consumes resources we also use and is faster than us with pretty much no checks or guardrails"
