Cool thoughts, thanks.  Yeah, load growth projections have become wonky as shit as multiple new adders have come into the mix.  Was aware of accounting for charging EVs, but hadn't really seen/thought much about industrial and heat pump-driven growth.  We'd all seen crypto mining already have an impact, but AI data center growth seems to be putting that to shame.

What you say about what will happen to assets in any crash makes sense.  Got a 25 yr old plant, with more expensive O&M and less efficiency, vs. a 2 yr old plant early in its maintenance life and quite efficient?  When you have to drop generation assets, you retire that first plant every time.

Tell me more about what you mean about getting electrical gear on the brown market?

Sorry, meant grey market.  Got my colors confused.  The grey market is just the resale market of new equipment.

If/When the AI bubble pops, it will result in many construction projects being canceled in both data centers and power plants.  Both types of facilities require high voltage electrical equipment.  Delivery of some of this equipment is what is driving the schedules, so it needs to be ordered early.  It is very much a sellers market, so the equipment vendors are requiring large upfront payments.  So, it is likely once projects are canceled - projects that are not completed - there will be equipment that is mostly or completely purchased that the owner doesn't need.  They will sell it to resellers for quick cash, who in turn sell it to maybe a new widget factory that is being developed.  Of course, if the whole economy tanks, there won't be many new buyers in the market, so the price will drop even further.  (Unfortunately, I don't know of a good way to make money in all that.)

"According to the Greatest Tremendous Amazingly Accurate Bureau of Labor and Economic and Statistics for Kids Who Don't Read Good, unemployment is at the bestest number ever, at levels the likes of which have never been seen, and inflation is down bigly, like 1,500%.  Also, the 2020 election was stollen and the Epstein files are a Democrat hoax."

Wait, why are tariffs being rolled back on many GROCERIES (wtf ever that word means) when I was told the exporting country was paying them.

This. I want to see how this gets spun.

Oh, you know how this gets spun.    They'll lie.   Then lie some more.   And finally, keep lying.

I don't understand what purchasing power means here. If prices are going up then by definition purchasing power is going down.

I think you understand quite well.

Income is also a factor there.  Income has probably increased enough to offset inflation...for people making more than 500k per year.

Heh. I was about to say.

I bet though if you went up to somebody making that kind of money in a place like San Francisco or New York they still wouldn't feel rich with how pricey things are these days.

Probably want to claim tax reduction is greater than inflation. But they know damn well that the tax reduction is only for the people that make enough money to not even notice the increase in groceries.

of course, that’s the only audience that matters to them until it’s time to vote.

If the dems were smart they would have DSA kids posted up outside every grocery store asking people to share their receipts and how they feel about what they paid. Stop relying on limpdick talking heads for spreading narratives. That's not where the people are.

As someone who has built their career in the data center space I'm a little conflicted on the topic.
What I can tell you is that the future of data center power with be SMRs (Small Modular Reactors) but there are hurdles to clear before they are widely impemented.  Data centers built with SMRs will be off of the traditional electrical grid.

I thought we were going with Mr Fusion.

Yeah, if Elon's income went up $12B this year but 10 million minimum wage workers are making the same as last year, the math works out to an average increase in incomes of $1,200/yr (nobody check my rudimentary math on that).

So Elon comes out ahead and those 10 million workers are falling behind once you factor in the expense (inflation) side. #winning

This is literally an actual post, word-for-word, by the White House on social media right now:

Quote
Thanks to President Trump’s deal-making, we’re making trade fair again, & winning BIG.
Coffee, tea, cocoa, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, beef, fertilizers, & more are now exempt from reciprocal tariffs.
America First policies delivering for American workers & families

Godfuckingmotherfuckingdammit, it's so goddamn stupid.

If "exempting these items from reciprocal tariffs" is "delivering for American workers & families".....WHY IN THE FUCK DID YOU IMPOSE THOSE TARIFFS IN THE FUCKING FIRST PLACE, YOU FUCKING ABJECT, ABSOLUTE, INFINITE MORON????

"I put out the fire I started" is not fucking "delivering" shit.  It's fucking undoing your utter and complete fuckup that never should have fucking happened in the first place among any life form capable of higher-level reasoning.

We import fertilizer?  I figured the domestic production of bullshit would have been more than sufficient.

States....whole states....are "trying to embed DEI ideology into AI models".....What the actual fuck?  Like, Wisconsin is programming....some AI model, who the fuck knows which one, with "make sure your answer to any question includes minorities" or some stupid shit that exists only in his imagination?

Goddamn.  If anyone ever wondered, while wasted/high/shithammered, "man....I wonder what America would be like if we elected the stupidest person to ever exist as president..."....wonder no more.  Your question has been answered.

Yeah man, one thing Americans universally love is being stopped outside grocery stores by poorly-groomed young adults asking if they have a minute

A character literally modeled off of Trump.

We need to get back to the good timeline where he’s an auto detailer and has a happy go lucky disposition.
