Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Please Make It Stop

Eric Nahlin: Talking Texas RB Transfer Options With College Source

He’s up high in a P4 personnel department. I reached out because I figured he scouted some guys I just got done watching.

RB Cam Edwards, UCONN: “Cam is decent. He was on our board but down the list. He’s not a guy Texas is on, is he?”

Apparently I liked Edwards a bit more than him.

RB Adam Mohammed, Washington: “Love Adam Mohammed. He’s a great option. We were on him for a bit.”

That’s more like it. I love him, too. The rumored price on Mohammed is doable. A smart team is going to get this guy right as he’s ready to breakout. He’s a future pro, imo.

RB Raleek Brown, ASU: I mentioned I felt he was a great plan with Isaac Brown not entering. “Agreed. Similar player.” This guy thinks Texas is in a good spot for Brown, which is hard to disagree with at this point. I asked about any character issues. “Maybe attitude in high school? Haven’t heard anything since but I only know one person there and haven’t talked in a while.” How good can he be? “Raleek (scheme dependent) can be very good.”

I mentioned Texas added a TE who should help make the run-game go and help scheme. “Mike Masunas is a f****** monster. Love him.” I asked him to go deeper on the “scheme dependent part.” Beyond running more OZ, what does he mean? After 20 minutes he came back: “I just think it’s interesting. ASU does so much out of the pistol…As I rewatch though, he’s better between the tackles than I thought. In the event Texas gets the Washington kid or someone like that, it’s a fantastic complement. But yes, OZ will almost certainly be a substantial part of what he is asked to do. I’d imagine a Mohammad or whoever is the guy to be running duo.”

While we’re on Brown, a couple 247 guys put in predictions for him to pick Texas. That seems a ‘tad’ premature but surely if Texas continues to push we like the Horns. He doesn’t visit until Wednesday and that’s a lifetime in portal hours. Is Texas taking two RB’s in the portal? This source asked me that question and I told him I wasn’t sure. I think they want two and think they’d like to add a downhill player. That’s not Raleek Brown.

I think Christian Clark profiles to being a complete back but that still requires some projection. I like James Simon, but same deal. Y’all know how I feel about Derrek Cooper. Love his ability, just not sure how ready he’ll be. I still have no clue what to think about Michael Terry. So here’s the deal, if they only take Brown, then Clark becomes an even more important player for the Horns. I’d leave no doubt and push for Mohammed, or someone like him.

Bobby got snippy on OTF this morning due to being called out for gaslighting the chat

9.95 report on shit at the time that they receive it. There's nothing wrong with what they are doing. But when dealing with high school and college aged kids, many of whom come from financially challenged homes, shit is fluid.

I would imagine when presented with life changing money, it's not just the kid's choice. His family (parents, uncles, etc) would definitely chime in. Some kids and families aren't thinking about what school/program will improve my NFL draft prospects. They are thinking about bills to pay and all the shit that they can buy right now.

When they report facts fine, there’s a place for that. But all the incessant prognosticating and predicting and all in and OL looks great and Baxter is a stud and arch is throwing with such precision accuracy in camp, and Texas is going to land not one but two top 10 RBs in the portal, and moon shot this and moon shot that, it’s too much. It’s annoying as fuck, it’s not reporting, it’s just fucking stupid.

Report this guy is in, this guy is visiting here, he left with an offer but didn’t commit, as of now he’s going to visit there and that’s what we know. Can’t do that, have to feed unfounded dumbass prognostications like they are insiders. Those meatheads and chuckle fucks don’t know anything

He’s a fucking snowflake maybe the worst of them bc his crew has some access but I think they get played on the reg. And with their credibility they talk about all in and arch looked great and the OL is full of hosses, and all sorts of other shit and fans just eat that shit up like it’s wagyu filet on sale.

They don't admit it but they all want to be the one who says "I told you so." Being the first to break the news, showing confidence in crystal balls bullshit is leveraging their position for "I told you so."

Everyone who follows recruiting should know sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. At this point in the game 20 years later, if someone is taking everything they say as gospel, then the mistake is on the reader.

He should get called out. He kept parroting "all-in" when fans were asking why we didn't go after certain recruits or players in high school or the portal. Which is fine. But then take the lumps if certain things don't pan out. They get suckered in every year with info from the staff. I'm still waiting for these Michigan DTs to enter the portal or still waiting for the Clemson and Louisville WR to enter the portal.

I still enjoy listening to them but I find it funny when they get defensive after they are the ones drumming up the excitement. Makes for good content I guess. We'll still have a very good portal I'm sure but yeah... Sark and Harris definitely miscalculated the RB market in my opinion.

Their subscribers aren't paying for dry journalism, they're paying for the sizzle. It's reality TV for guys. Hard to fault guys filling a market demand when our idiot selves are out here demanding it.

Waking up on the west coast and still no splash portal grabs. I was told there would be moon shots. Not back shots

Bobby is a really good man and he does the hard work as a journalist when he is on a story. His weakness is that he’s not cynical enough with his trust in people from the coaching and AD worlds. Agents, recruits and parents? Yes. Coaches across the landscape? Tends to believe them with less skepticism. I don’t think he gets actively lied to, I just think when someone like Harris or Flood is telling you something, you have to temper it a bit.

Gerry is the opposite. Almost too cynical and skeptical at times, but it has served his track record well. He’s been right more than anyone else in the space time and again. That’s true on evaluations as well. For every Daniel Cruz people want to bitch about, there are many guys like Byron Murphy and Cam Williams that he liked a lot more than the rest of the industry.

I don’t think Nahlin is unconnected, but I do think he is also too trusting.

We should question anything coming from OB or Chip Brown because those guys are often actively being used in messaging campaigns of one sort or another and they don’t even seem to care as long as they can claim having a source or a scoop.

Vogel, South, Scruggs and others are young guys still learning and occasionally stumble into good stuff. I think South is the best of them, personally.

When satya is silver-lining your caterwauling chicken-little bullshit, you should probably take a step back.

Let's be honest, people aren't angry that the journalists were wrong. They're angry because of recruiting.

If Bobby Burton said we have no chance to land Cam Coleman, then we landed Cam Coleman, fans would just say, "Wow, we really stepped it up at the last minute." But if he says we're getting Coleman and we don't, fans will blame him for not knowing.

People take their frustrations out on the source.

When are we going to change thread title to “All in , my ass!”?

Your take on Bobby is so fucking clueless it’s almost reads like parody. Bobby is a friend of the Texas program and if you ever met him and talked Texas football with him you would not have this opinion. And calling him the worst in a market that includes Ketchum and Nahlin is the hawtest takes of all time.

You have to protect your sources which is difficult when your source is failing in his role.

IT said both Muschamp and Sark are on the road today. I wonder if they will be doing in-homes with any portal guys.

You just reminded me to put scramblyn on ignore.

The scramblyn tag is in reference to his brain

Did they ever describe what all in meant? Not to my knowledge, so people taking it to mean they were going to spend willy nilly like Tech are the ones to blame.

You pay someone more than Colin Simmons reupped for and you think he and his team won’t force a renegotiation? Agents talk, so prudence is our friend as far as making the most of our resources.

This. People are frustrated with portal recruiting and losing out on guys we think are top-tier, and they’re taking it out on people who have nothing to do with it.

If we’re mad at anyone, it should be the person running the show.

I’m pretty happy with everything right now but not too happy. So don’t report that I’m too happy.

This whole fear of pissing off current players by signing new ones is funny. Happens in literally every other job, including pro sports.

To say you, e.g., have a hard cap of salary at $2 mil for any one player in the portal because that’s what Simmons makes and we don’t want to piss him off seems unnecessary, if we’re all in.

Money Guy (Sark? BHarris? TOF big wig?): Hey Colin, we want to win a title.

Colin: Me too.

MG: Cam costs more than we expected. How does an extra 500k sound out of respect of your contributions and value to the team?

Colin: Bet.

Now Colin Simmons doesn’t make less than Cam Coleman.

Texas Tech is basically playing sugar daddy. They’ll land a few guys, but it’s not nearly as much as people are making it seem maybe 2 or 3 real top notch players. The rest are just really good for the Big 12

And I wouldn’t even put Indiana in that same category. They’re just really good evaluators with strong coaching and development. If we had that on the 40, we wouldn’t be living and dying off whatever kids decide to do in the damn portal.

didn't say he wasn't a friend of the program at all. but he also got caught with his pants down twice this year. preseason bullshit was next level, "all in" nonsense was similar. so y'all have fun with it. folks defending 995ers - even those that have some program access - can and should put me on ignore.

Another starter on the way out of Tuscaloosa. I wish Bama was on our schedule next season, the vibes are about as bad as it could get for a team that won a playoff game this season.

Yeah, this is much closer to where I am. I don’t blame the 9.95ers. If you follow this stuff long enough, you can generally tell the kind of information being fed to them. You can tell when they’ve been told someone is a lock, you can tell when they’ve been told we are a sneaky contender, and you can tell when they’ve been told we have no shot.

It’s obvious that this staff viewed a few guys as locks that ended up not working out. Overoptimism appears to be a pattern with this staff, and when you are letting current productive players leave then you need to be sure that your free agent reads are accurate. I don’t know that this staff has earned the benefit of the doubt in that regard, in my opinion.

I’m fine letting Tre Wisner walk. I’m not fine if that means merely hoping that the person we end up signing will be as good as Tre Wisner.

They were awful along the lines of scrimmage this year. They haven't had a real pass rush since Dallas Turner left.

There are a lot of holes they have to fill.

Honest question, how many "top-tier" have actually committed anywhere yet? Is Omarion Miller considered top-tier?

Indiana football 2026 transfer portal tracker: Hoosiers load up again - The Herald-Times

Who has Indiana football added out of the transfer portal?

  • DE, Joshua Burnham, Notre Dame (Jan. 4)

  • RB Turbo Richard, Boston College (Jan. 4)

  • S Jiquan Sanks, Cincinnati (Jan. 4)

  • QB Josh Hoover, TCU (Jan. 4)

  • DE Tobi Osunsanmi, Kansas State (Jan. 4)

  • WR Nick Marsh, Michigan State (Jan. 4)

  • S Preston Zachman, Wisconsin (Jan. 4)

I think Indiana is proof that it's not all about the money. That's cynical simplism. Many elements come into play. It's hard to watch Indiana and not want to go there even if you do make a little less money.

I think all that happens is that they hear a players name from coach/agent/family/INTERNET and then they go scour the internet for info on that player and write the "blurb" with pretty much the same template every time(Ive been told, looks good but things are fluid, he really is considering Texas but may just stay at current school, etc).

Rinse/Repeat.

I will have to admit it takes 5-10 minutes to write it up per player, or 30 min for one of those "here's where WE stand..." summary deals. so they are doing some work and people who just want to be seen as in the know can use that info like they are plugged in and pay the 9.95. Their biggest value now is probably messaging for agents/players mostly to help with negotiations.

to be honest, NIL and transfer portal has to be a huge boon for them. instead of talking about 25 to 30 players a year it could be 75 to 100 or more.

there is no way I'd pay for info from people that are so wrong/so often but as long as they aren't hurting the program(FCB), good for them.

Those motherfuckers insist upon themselves because they see an opportunity to finally be relevant, only took Texas and OU to leave the conference. With that said, it was impressive to see what their spending produced on the defensive side of the ball. I think they learned to need to spend money on the offense and it looks like they might be doing that.

Anyway, fuck them.
