I’m curious.

How many of yall in the last 2-5 years has cashed it in? It took me years. Last season I watched exactly one game and it was thanksgiving because I was in temple at the in-laws and what else was on after eating.

I’m so done with this organization, but I really do pay attention. I can remember the days in the 80s with my dad working on deer blinds in September with the AM radio blaring the cowboys games.

If they win that’s great and I’ll always have a little smile. But invest in watching a game naw, not until the jones family goes away.

Last season I literally didn’t know if we won or loss until Monday morning on this thread.

I’m way more inclined to believe Parsons’s side of the story here and obviously fuck Jerry, etc. But also why the fuck would a player ever talk contracts with a team without his agent present? That’s literally why you have an agent. “Talk to my agent”….that’s it, those are the only words that should come out of your mouth.

I still watch but my GAF meter for this team is very low. The NFL is still a great product, but the Cowboys aren't too often.

I'm like Vic in that my GAF meter is at the lowest it can be. Cowboys win? Okay. Cowboys lose? Okay. I just know that as long as Jerry Jones is the owner and GM we will never play meaningful football in January and February.

We're not doing this.... yet.  Pay the man and stop being the biggest dumbfucks in the NFL.

Unpossible goal.

They also paid Dak because many people said it was the right move.  Of course many of us said fuck no, from the jump, without any of the current hindsight as benefit; but we're not football people like Jerry Jones.

If winning a Super Bowl is the legitimate goal, then selling the team would be the only financial move significant enough to precipitate that result.

Heard multiple radio shows say that's what happened, only the Cowboys front office kept reaching back out to Parsons, in hopes of luring him in to do a Pudge Rodriguez-like move.  Hearing their description, made it sound like Parsons kept saying , "Talk to my agent" though, even if initially Parsons had spoken informally with Stephen/ Jerry more than a year ago.  They screwed the pooch while the market increased substantially.

Radio shows might be full of shit; but I also know who I am most inclined to believe.

Jones family will never get the benefit of the doubt with me. Of course the player is trying to maximize his salary and this will be his biggest chance to do so. If you are a middling team (and that’s being generous) and you have positioned yourself roster- and capwise such that you can’t sign your best player (a top player in the league) and field a competitive team around him, you deserve all the badness that comes your way. I hope Parsons sits or gets his trade. Fuck this team

i'm starting to have a bad feeling about this season

That's how I feel every year there is no obituary...

For Jerry or me, either one.

Well except to @markstanco's point, January of 2024, I officially bailed from Cowboy fandom.  When they didn't fire fathead Mike and said Dak was the guy... yes, THOSE were the straws... after decades of bullshit.

Always a Cowboys fan, never a bandwagon jumper. That shit is for the weak. I'll root for some teams secondarily when I like something about them, but never as a replacement. Otherwise, I don't see the purpose in watching sports if you don't have emotional ties.

It doesn't mean I have had any expectations over the past 30 years, other than expecting Jerry to be Jerry and having to deal with it.

I expect that Jerry and PhSteven will cave and sign Parsons to a $60mm/season fully guaranteed contract just before Parsons has a devastating injury.

its what Jerry do.

This is the most likely outcome...... I hope without the injury, but Jerrah and Stephen are sensitive to monetary outcomes.  If folks stay home the first few home games, then they'll cave.  They'll probably do it before then, but all this silly drama and angst and having a contentious working relationship with your best employees, is pretty stupid.

This for all the dopes who think Micah sucks or doesn't play hard or whatever itch is up your ass.... If you think you're going to get better in the trade market, please look at the Cowboys last 10 trades.  If you think he hasn't earned a new contract worth being the top non-QB player in the league, you're ignorant and should probably just read more or go educate yourself about the game.

Meh like much of the nfl my give a fuck meter is really low. I’ll turn score alerts on for Dallas but I won’t go out of my way to watch. I’ll cancel the day when the college is on but nfl and Dallas boring product

This was a somewhat prophetic quote from an article posted on USA Today Cowboyswire the other day, via The Athletic

History says Cowboys will get Micah Parsons deal done — but when? :: The Athletic

Link

“He’s getting paid,” Jerry Jones said of his star edge rusher. “He gets about $20-some million right now. And that’s a pretty easy $20 million standing there watching practice." But the longer this goes on, the tougher it will be for Parsons to stay on the sideline and not talk to reporters. In some ways, he’s like the Jerry Jones of players; he enjoys the media side of the job. What gets said- by both parties- in the meantime may prove to be the most interesting part of this standoff.

He's played in 4 playoff games. Point to me any game changing play he made? Specifically, against SF twice and Green Bay. The Tampa game was against a losing record junk team in Brady's final game. He's not a game changer. EPA per play is some analytics stat. He's the Dak of the defense. Flash against lesser teams, folds and disappears against better teams. Good offenses have no issue moving the ball and scoring points against this defense since he's been here. Is he the only issue? Not even close. But putting the percentage of their assets into Dak and Parsons isn't going to amount to shit, which it hasn't.

They had a chance to tear this whole thing down a year ago and start over. This core is nothing more than a wild card win ceiling and really, that wild card team needs to be below average. Because when they played SF and GB, they got dominated. Which is why the only 2 playoff wins this franchise has had in the last decade. 2018 Seattle, 2022 Tampa. Both of those teams were weak with no offense to speak of.

I’ve watched Cowboys back to Ice Bowl game and still watch every game but realize it’s hopeless with Jerry’s clan.  These days, my favorite part of watching a game is the occasional camera shot of Jerrah’s box when the Cowboys are sucking.

Last several years I’ve watched 10 plus hours of football on Saturday, haven’t watched a Cowboys game in real time since then. Watched the Boys from 1970 and I realized I’ll never see what I saw in those 34 years again. So yeah IDGAF anymore

I was in the 3rd grade so about 8-9 years old.  Watched it on my parents new color TV in 1967 which was big deal then.

Anybody losing sleep over football much less the Dallas Cowboys who isn’t a paid member of the organization deserves to turn on their car and forget to open their garage….from the sleepiness.

I think the biggest problem is he's undersized as a full time rush end. Every season of the last 3 he's gotten worn down by week 11 or 12 and his stats fall off a cliff around there. He should be a full time LB who occasionally shifts over to end to pass rush on certain downs so offensive linemen don't just get to work him over all game long. Plus, the good teams have good OTs, and good OTs know he can't beat them with a bull rush. He has to use speed which makes him easier to block when he's worn down.

I still like the NFL just not the Cowboys anymore. Green Bay 2024 was the last straw. I maybe watched 4 games worth of them last season, and watched far more Washington games with Jayden Daniels' explosion on the scene and DQ's defensive makeover. Was just a more interesting product. This offseason I haven't paid attention to one thing Cowboys until I saw the headline today that Parsons requested a trade. It's hilarious the media clown show this whole thing is. The franchise really is a microcosm for America as a whole.

Of course not, because he knows he will cave and just sign Parsons to the max deal Parsons wants an hour before the season starts. Parsons knows that. The entire team knows that. That's why Parsons is doing all the theatrics as well, just like with Dak a year ago and Zeke before that.
