Perhaps it was on the list, whoever comes up with that,  but it was not that difficult to get into UT in 1996, relatively speaking, and was really easy in 1985.

Is there actual confirmation of the university signing onto this?

There won't be until the administration feels the public opposition has died down enough and they'll try to slide it through on a Friday afternoon.

The hardest class I took at UT was Nonlinear Acoustics.  I'm trying to figure out how Greg and the boys will inject MAGA-friendly topics into that course, but I'm drawing a blank.  I'm sure they'll figure something out.

Easy.  One thing MAGA is very good at is generating sound waves of sufficiently large amplitudes.

Does UT have to announce if they sign or can they just say yes directly to the administration and hope and pray that it doesn't blow up into a story? The latter seems unlikely but who knows. I don't see them having the guts to say no especially with Hotwheels breathing down their necks.

It is going to be monumentally embarrassing when the results come back

Brown -- deny

Dartmouth -- deny

MIT -- deny

Arizona -- deny

Penn -- deny

USC -- deny

UT -- accept

UVa -- deny

Vanderbilt -deny

When UT accepts, even without an announcement, Trump will shout it from the rooftops.

So will Abbott and Patrick and Paxton.

And with that, a mighty cheer went up from the heroes of Texas. They had banished the awful wokeism forever, because it was too liberal.

USC is out. That makes four official responses so far--and four nopes. In order: MIT, Brown, Penn, USC.

In a sane world, UT's leadership would want to be included with those schools.

In this world, they absolutely do not.  (OK, I admit I don't know much about Arizona.)

And most of the people who will be pressuring UT to accept it, never attended UT.

Just because they went to Baylor doesn't mean they can't have an opinion!

In 1994 I was accepted to the UT College of Business after graduating in the bottom 25% of my high school class and an SAT score of 1260.

Odd way to tell us you blew the dean of admissions, but way to be a go-getter.

So all the federal funding will come to UT now?

I think the fact that we haven't signed it yet is starting to feel like a good sign.

I would like to share your optimism, and I would like to think the law school and the alumni orgs have the leadership’s ear, but Abbott, Paxton, and Patrick also have the leadership’s ear, and Abbott is so desperate to please Trump.

It also feels like a letter of rejection is quicker and easier to write than a letter of acceptance that you have to sell to the student body, profs, and alumni.

Yeah and Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, Tom Cotton, JD Vance, et al all went to elite private schools like Harvard and Yale and have done nothing but attack and denigrate them.

From my (very limited) understanding, UT is trying to clarify some language and what is actually feasible.

My best guess is that UT will sign some revised version so that the government can crow about it but nothing actually changes. I hope not but we’ll see.

Again, everyone call that office.

It hasn’t been signed yet as far as I know, and may not be. This is the Reddit thread I mentioned earlier, where the OP claims to have heard that it will be signed:

Hopefully, he or she turns out to be wrong.

UT leadership is trying to figure out how to sell it or spin it, otherwise the rejection notice would have been sent out.

And it’s Friday, so they’ll put the acceptance letter out tonight.

How unsurprising.

The compact puts the entire onus on the school meeting the demands (which will invariably change as time goes on), with the government dictating all of the terms of the agreement or withholding the funds.

UT is just priming itself to be MAGA's bitch.
