Definitely looked like an entitled mack brown type team.  any chance we can get rid of McConaughey and bring Studdard to every game and practice.  He'll bring the culture we need!!

With the exception of not getting the ball out, Arch handles pressure better than Ewers.  No happy feet, few ill-advised throws, no stepping into sacks.

He's kind of a shitty defense reader and passer with or without pressure.

Not unless they want to be banned.

On the other hand, if I were a journo, I might plan on getting banned and build a PR $9.95 campaign for post-banning... Seven-win Steve Sarkisian bans Tough Question Surly

Yeah he just has ill-advised interceptions and completely refuses to hit open receiver underneath.

Need to change the overall offensive philosophy with this team if we want to have any success this season. We don’t have the speed nor the blocking to create long explosive plays. Turn this team into a power running team, turn Arch into fucking Sam Ehlinger and try to get 3 yards at a time with Clark & Gibson. Trying for chunk plays was fine with golden, bond, worthy, Mitchell, blue, helm, etc. this team has nobody of that caliber on the outside.

Mack, is that you?

he kinda stepped into a couple of sacks today by holding on too long

I don't mean to be hyperbolic but I am having a hard time coming up with a worse Texas running game in recent memory. Maybe back to the Colt years when he was the running game. I get that it's not just Wisner but holy shit if it's not working, try someone else at the position. This OL is also one of the worst I can remember. Just utter dogshit both mentally and physically. Two straight false starts by the same fucking guy? There is so much wrong with this that we're hard pressed to even beat OU with their backup that we beat handily last year.

Worst interior O line in a generation. I’m baffled at the regression I.E. DJ Campbell. We need to make a change at Center.

People are directly saying that they are ok with just beating OU and calling it a season.

Seriously, that would be a win at this point.  The season is trashed.  This game was not a one-off loss.  This was coming, and it was predicted based off how we’ve been playing thus far.  So yea, I would agree that a win against Oklahoma would be the highest bar we can expect to achieve this year.

Frustrating watching Moore and others running wide open mid range and watching arch throw bombs into double coverage that have no chance of being completed. If he takes a few of the underneath throws on the second to last drive instead of holding onto the ball for ages and taking sacks waiting for wingo to get separation (which he rarely does)- we probably easily tie that game up.

I mean, I know it’s cool to be retarded these days, but good lord…if we beat OU, each of the next three games we’ll be expected to win. If we do, then it’s a whole new perspective

With or without pressure.

Pressure turned Ewers into a basket case most of the time.  Arch just is a basket case, the pressure doesn't make it any worse.  He actually stood and delivered a couple of times today.

An experienced mid-quality QB hits the mid-range guys.  In fact, that is what Caldwell did in his 1 pass this afternoon.

None of the coaches seem to be on the same page, no matter what. Take Flood out of the equation. Our WR's can't run routes (Chris Jackson), our RB is soft and depleted (Choice), our QB can't throw more than 1-2 passes accurately in a row (Sark/Milwee). Our defensive line (Baker), Edges (Sellers), DBs, though not as bad as it seems, but still (Akina/Orphey). They're all working independent rather than as a group, which is why we see so much dysfunction. They're either not teaching them properly, they aren't game planning ad a cohesive unit, don't understand Sark's play calls (Golden had ti literally have a sit down to understand it).

I don't know what they do in practice, I haven't listened to OTF in months, but I have eyes and I can see what they're not doing. The only real "JAGS" on the tram are the o-line. It's not like we don't have upper tier talent everywhere else. Thats all I can think of. I believe the Akina effect will kick in later in the year when they understand what he wants, same with Orphey. Same with Baker. I want to say the same with the DE group, as they finally let Simmons do what he does best and it worked. WR's like Moore and Wingo should know this, and Moore does. Wingo is clearly a project. McCutcheon seems to be a baller. I would like to see Lockett and Ffrench just to see what they can do, even at the basic level.

I assume that Texas and its alumni are so damn rich that the amount they are paying Arch in NIL$ is not a factor.

If I’m wrong about that, does Texas still want to pay that same amount to Arch next year -  or wish him well and go all in on the most highly rated HS quarterbacks who played against 5A competition - or a talented stud from a P5 program who can be enticed in the portal?

There’s no way this team is favored in any of its matchups  watching aggy right now they are gonna embarrass these overrated fucks in Austin on Thanksgiving unless something changed. But nothings gonna change after 5 weeks it’s still the exact same inept shitshow as it was week 1. Not a single person on that entire roster has improved.   Why the fuck does no one ever fucking improve as the years go on in Austin. It’s regression every year.

I would love to know if these fucker practice at all. I mean any practicing  if so what the fuck are the practicing.

The OL wasn’t replaced with comparable experienced talent and it shows….not having that is a huge issue for the offense, and makes Arch’s job that much more difficult.   The wide receivers are not as good and are not running routes getting themselves open….and that’s a problem, and of course, the DL is not as good as last year, made up of portals that have shown, so far, not to be as good…then, of course, Arch has not shown the eliteness that we expected…..and we are stuck with these guys, hoping Sark can figure it out…gonna be a tough couple of months.

I'm confused what we've been doing at oline recruiting. We have absolute trash on the line.

Any update on the white receiver?

X-rays were negative.  He tried to play again but came back out after one play I believe.  My totally uneducated guess is that he will be out next week.

I couldn't have been more wrong about aggy vs State. I'm here to eat crow. They look good, but we will see later in the season if they can keep it up. But they look pretty good.

Here’s a novel concept…they’re improving every game. Something we’re not familiar with.

Aggy actually better than us this year. Can't believe my eyes. We literally pulled an Aggy being ranked #1 and will be out of the rankings by next week.

The low key passive aggressive shit I am getting from my Aggie BIL is insufferable.

He’s a good guy but I hate to give him the window.

Refreshing today in this thread that there wasn't the nornal onslaught of clowns who draw upon the "oh shit, the refs fucked us, again" pillar to justify a Texas loss. Blaming officiating is and has been a beating and is pathetic. You make plays to win. Or you don't. There's idiotic face painters who will never get that and you can ID yourself on this board.

Big picture, Sarkisian has a lot of holes right now - a QB who is mediocre, no RBs, an offensive line that is soft as shit and a defense, while talented, that isn't well coached. Today you saw one team that was hell bent on winning. There was another that showed up expecting to do so. Connect the dots. Texas doesn't play with any sort of urgency or chip on its shoulder and that shIt wreaks of a team still enamored with press clippings and full of entitlement. Your end result is likely a 5 or 6 loss team.

I like Sarkisian but he is drawing $11MM / year. The product he's producing right now is bad.

Aggy is not only better but way better. Not sure any of our WRs start for them. Their defense is going to demolish Arch.

Didn't we have running and QB issues last year too?

It ain't the players, it's the fucking shit ass coaching and scheme.

Posted (edited)

The coaching was certainly bad, but sure would like to have seen the defense come out right away and hit people hard. They could have done that. Instead, Florida came out with fire in their eyes and hit Texas in the mouth and Texas never recovered.

It was sickening to see Simmons talking smack to Lagway who was out there on one leg and a bum arm or shoulder and took care of business anyway. He was a totally one-dimensional quarterback who couldn't run or scramble and he still played his ass off. Florida never trailed after that first drive. That fumble on the first play of the game and they got it back set the tone for the rest of the game.

Simmons should talk more with his play on the field and less with his mouth, when Texas is being totally outplayed.

After our LG experience today, I think they have to try Robertson at C and Hutson at LG.
