Bama lost to Florida state and barely scraped out a win against Auburn so those qualifiers don’t work, and that’s not even mentioning Miami.

It seems like the litmus test for SEC teams getting into the playoffs this season was beating Georgia & beating the team that beat Georgia, cancelling out any other losses to teams that lost to Georgia.

Just say losing to a team like Florida and barely scraping out wins against a couple other Floridaesque teams you play eliminates you.

That's it.

Us and Alabama out you say

But mainly getting through the twelve game regular season with only two losses.

Vandy should be super pissed.

So if BYU and Alabama gets blown out, do we have any chance of getting in?

It’s over.

the only people still talking about us are UT fans.  BYU/Bama blowouts turns all the talking points to Bama/DomeMiami and which of those get the 2 remaining spots and that will consume the media.

Meanwhile, there could be a 4 loss team getting the last spot depending on tonight and tomorrow’s results.   They need to stop saying “12 best teams” and just say 10 best records and 2 charity spots

That's not lost on me, but try reading things a bit yourself.  You called people "mongoloids" for thinking 10-2 Miami might be ahead of 9-3 Texas.  Care to address my fucking point?

Just go read page 1 of this thread. :) it’s good

They did say that, fans just ignore it. Amazing how many posts in those game threads recognized the dogshit non-playoff team performance in those games and then somehow think the committee didn’t see the same thing.

It doesn’t actually matter how you look in those games. Just don’t lose 3 of them. Lesson learned. Schedule accordingly.

I mean if bad losses were big issue Bama should be out and ND, Miami or Vandy should be in.

Texas draws insane TV coverage. I still don't put it past the committee to weasel us in somehow.

Because money people make decisions, not a committee for regardeds…..

Holy shit that was a huge number we put up in the aggy game at the same time Miami drew a 2.2M v Pitt. ESPN absolutely has to see those numbers and be thinking what the fuck are you assholes on the committee even talking about?

Given this is really just entertainment...

Expand the playoffs to 14 teams.
12 selected as they are today.  2 more based on ratings and must have a winning record.  Teams ranked 11-12 play the at-large "ratings teams" the same week as CCG - as play-ins.

If the 2 at-large teams get crushed, who cares, we get another week of entertainment.  If one or both win, we all win, dispatching a pretender before the get fed to the #5 team a week later.

This year, Texas and LSU would be the at-large "ratings" teams (based on the above graphic).

The big flaw here is 1-4 and 11-14 this year would have to play and beat each other up while 5-10 get to rest.

What I’ve found amusing in the short (2) years of the 12-team playoff is how everyone complains about the quality of playoff matchups which they don’t watch after fighting and politicking so hard to give the have-not’s a seat at the table at the end of the reg.  We’re spiraling towards something like a Tulane at Oregon & Virginia at Ole Miss.  That’s half of the 1st RD that college football consumers will likely outright skip, and it gets worse than that if Duke wins the ACC title game.  Cancel the 5th conference champion auto-bid.  It’s simply a better product, and better for business

11 plays 14; 12 plays 13 - these are play-ins for the real 11 and 12, but yes it is flawed.

Never should have been 12. Should have always been 8 with no auto bids.

So it's a complete beat down on bama and byu that we need to have any sort of chance in sneaking into the playoffs, right?

Correct, but it's over.

Congrats to Tulane for losing by 35 points to Ole Miss but still making the playoffs.

Losing by 3 TDs to UT-San Antonio should be automatic rejection.

oh well, they did beat blue bloods Charlotte and Temple, so we can look past those 2 losses
