If anyone is paying attention, fair or not, Texas isn’t even part of the National conversation for the playoff anymore.  They’ve been effectively crossed off.  I do think there’s a “slight” chance that things get interesting today if Duke wins (does the committee and the networks REALLY want 2 of 4 1st RD matchups irrelevant and unwatched with Tulane, James Madison in the field because that’s what they’d be staring at staying the course)

Congrats to Tulane for losing by 35 points to Ole Miss but still making the playoffs.

Don't forget about their 22 point loss to UTSA.

It was over when OU and Bama both got to 10-2 (over meaning 95% or so) which was why it probably was going to be 9-3 Texas in on October 15 but didn’t play out that way. Fucking Ou walking through raindrops.

So the straight flush we have to pull is:

- Tech big over BYU

- UGA blowout of Bama (and maybe an injury to Ty Simpson)

- Duke over UVA

- OSU blowout of IU (so we keep the closest loss)

And then even if we get all that, it will still likely be nothing more than a case of playoff blue balls?

Nothing will get us into the playoff. It's over.

That’s been my assumption since the UGA loss but I’m trying to see if there is any point at all in having a rooting interest in these games that I don’t otherwise care about.

That with the complete lack of end of season spoilers elsewhere . We're were a Kansas win over Utah, auburn over Bama, Iowa over Oregon type close games away

Eliminates UVA, Duke still doesn’t get in, and it undermines Miami’s argument for going in ahead of us. Again, a marginal at best help to our chances.

Is Tech considered a lock regardless of what happens today?

If they get in with two losses, then the committee should just say "we rank by win/loss records".

Proves the ACC is dogshit. And ND is basically an ACC

Not if they get blown out. A close loss is a lock though.

I haven't really been participating in this, mainly because for most of the season Texas didn't look like a top 12 team. But Tech getting in with two losses would make me go "Now hold on one damn second...."

Was very clear on Gameday that they were told not to mention Texas.

There's a slew of 2 loss teams with better schedules. Better wins and better losses. They should drop to 11 and be effectively out, but this committee is just on a vacation in Arlington for the weekend. Sounds super fun.

Fine.  We’ll take our money and go home.

Tech is considered a lock because of where they are ranked and SMU last year.  If you forget those and actually look at their resume with another loss, it's not good at all.

James Madison huh?  Christ on a cracker.

If putting a deserving, 3 loss team in front of a 2 loss team is just a bridge too far, then why the fuck are there three, 2 loss teams in front of 1 loss BYU?

Was just told by an aggie that Texas is getting media bias for  not being in the playoff as it is the highest ranked three loss. AND the media hates the aggies or they be higher.
This dude graduated top of his class in grad school, so he’s smart. Just shows how much being in a cult can fuck you up.

Like say for instance if there was a 3 loss team who beat a 2 loss team at a neutral site by 17 points, and that 2 loss team got in and the 3 loss team didn't.

I like how we trash the ACC, but they have more winning teams than the Big 12. And yet the Big 12 could send two reps to the CFP given Tech is a lock for some odd reason.

ACC plays 8 game schedules and the Big 12 plays 9, so this is virtually a guarantee no matter how good each conference is.

The ACC is the worst conference.  They are closer to the American than they are to the SEC.

Holy shit, they lost by two touchdowns to Louisville and only beat Washington State by four. Looks like they should barely be in the FCS playoffs

this whole thing is a farce

Haven't been paying attention to the polls, but have been watching Tech beat BYU. Sister just informed me that BYU is ranked #11. WTF? This is a pure shit team. They sure as fuck don't belong ahead of Texas, and after this showing they're gonna drop out.
