Bonus points for the Two-Face comparison. I enjoy your postgame film studies.

Play #2: IMO, Niblett didn't help Goosby set up his block on the screen, or it would have gone for at least another 10 yards.

Keep up the good work.

The conversation I had was, "Well, shit. It looks like all the things that didn't normally work, are working. Or Vandy defense is shitty."

"Why not both?"

"Yeah, everything is working. Candy D is shitty."

On the 2nd screen down the right sideline, Play #8, the C - Robertson #62 - peels back to block a trail defender rather than working upfield to lead block. Is this how it's drawn up? I hope not.

That's DJ the RG, and not only is that how we draw it up, we frequently use that blocking scheme on long developing pass plays and have been the last two years bro.

Would subscribe to weekly podcast and newsletter. Good content as always. You might get some pushback for mentioning me. I’m the devil. 😈 😂 I’d be dolling out the compliments even if you called me an imbecile. Good analysis.

i thought you said you don't *cheat*

you also said women *cheat* because of emotional non-availability

this gif does not align with either claim

Can't use your quote without recognizing the originator. We learned that in middle school. It was solid analysis. Simple as that. Men are inherently misogynistic, even subconsciously. We can be pretty dismissive about a decent take just because it came from a...gulp....woman. Lol

Yes it was my man. You had to laugh when the nickel runs right by Wingo. It's like everything Vandy thought they knew about Texas blew up in their faces on the first play. Sark kept on abusing their blitzes all game too.

The line played better and Arch hit passes he’s supposed to, amazing how “coaching” gets better when those things happen.

And the defense was incapable of making a solo tackle for 30 minutes. Really helps!

Ultimately, the Good News is that we played four consecutive quarters of excellent football.

The Bad News is that it was spread over two games, and we ended up in the wrong direction.

All things considered, we look to be improving and even possibly to continue the Good News trend.

Big, heartfelt Thank You to thatguy.

This was 2 fold. The Vanderbilt DBs just could not tackle the Texas WRs. Look at the clips and see how many of those screens are minimal gains if the first Vandy player makes a tackle.

Look at even the blitzes. There isn’t the immediate pressure we were seeing. I don’t remember a full on whiff in pass pro in this game. That makes things a lot easier on Arch when he is not having to move off his spot immediately. Compare the fake the screen this week to the week prior. Arch is standing tall with a clean pocket when he realizes the go is covered. He can easily just flip it to the flat. That protection makes a ton of difference

Yes, I agree, DJ #52 blocked the correct man right next to Arch on the play I'm questioning.

The block I'm referring to happened downfield around the 43-yard line. I guess this is what Robertson is coached to do, but we needed better blocks from Baker #73, Mosley #3, and Townsend #81 to spring this.

We def need this good sark in two weeks. Arch can move the ball down the field if sark will run 4-5 wide with arch in th shotgun. Keep the RB and TE that’s fine but spread the fucking field and run uptempo 4 min offense and get the ball out. Those uga defenders will tire and run game will show up just enough.  Texas defense if healthy can handle Georgia. Go score some fucking points playing college ball instead of auditioning for nfl owners and GMs bro.

someone message CDC on this matter pronto!

Another promising thing I saw was finally using Niblett as a decoy on offensive plays.

Except the RPO that he should have gotten thrown to on that would have been a TD and was a bad read by manning. It was ok and not game changing but would have been a nice read.

Oh that. No. That looks to be him making decisions on his own and almost getting a penalty. Also, the blocking I am talking about with DJ fails the second we play a quality front with some speed. Like two weeks from now.

DJ's pass blocking grade was the 2nd lowest this week, according to PFF. Both guards need to improve, somehow, before we play UGA. Wishful thinking, I know.

The silver lining is we looked far shittier vs far weaker opponents. So looking competent when we are supposed to is a huge step in the right direction. Next step is looking good vs the Georgia's of the world. This Georgia is a lesser Georgia than last year's Georgia defensively, but still solid. These plays that were working with ease will still work vs Georgia, though for 5 yards instead of 20.

Kirby has had us so well scouted too. Like you say, we've moved in the right direction, but huge next step needed for stunts, twist arounds and you name it coming from much better athletes.

I also think he is a little hurt. They showed the team running out onto the field at some point during the game and his gate did not look right at all.

I disagree, Goosby is caught watching Niblett instead of getting upfield to the next Vanderbilt defender. Without that pause it's a TD.

@Thatguy maybe you can write a little on how we can continue this at Georgia.  From what I remember, their corners played up and either jammed or gave very little space for that short passing game last year.  That forced Quinn to hold the ball which is death with their D line.  And QE was elite at finding the quick pass but he was seeing ghosts after getting lit up a few times.  No short passing game, and no running game vs. UGA seems like it might be bad.
