This movie had a twist that I wasn't expecting. There were a lot of layers to peel off in this movie that make for interesting discussions.

LA Confidential

Wife jumped when Vincennes meets his demise.  Me: It's OK, I've seen it at least 10 times and it's still that way for me.

So many great lines, but one that applies so well to someone fucking up:  I wouldn't trade places with Edmund Exley right now for all the whiskey in Ireland.

Central Intelligence starring The Rock and Kevin Hart.

I thought it was pretty funny actually with Jason Bateman being the funniest part in his limited screen time.

The Roses

really enjoyed it, acting was phenomenal, which duh, look who it is.

i am a big fan of the 1989 one, this one was not as dark, much more lighthearted even though the sentiments in both were so relatable.

the sexual chemistry wasn't nearly as strong either, which duh, look who it is 😄 very funny though, in the dry, british fashion.

Spoiler

felt like these two were more best friends and never actually lost that affection, it just got overwhelmed, whereas Turner and Douglas were oozing contempt and disgust for each other by the middle act. especially Turner. like i said...relatable 😆

Watched the Biggest Loser and Poop Cruise "documentaries".

1.  Biggest Loser: The producers come off a complete assholes.  The exploitative nature of a show like that was apparent at time but damn.  The lack of after care plus the doctor who oversaw it were scary.  Huzienga is a real piece of work.

2.  Poop Cruise was exactly what I wanted it to be.  The three chicks came across as the vapid bitches that they probably are in real life.  I've been on a couple of cruises ( one of it Galveston on a Carnival boat) and knowing how the crew is worked to the bone bothers me.  I applaud that crew for surviving and holding it all together.  That situation could have gotten out of control.  Finding out at the end about Carnival's lack of liability was exasperating.  Those ticket clauses were mind-blowing.

Anybody seen Honey Don’t?

Seen scenes of Plaza and Qualley going at it. Intrigued me.

The Cohen involvement has me intrigued but it’s not getting great reviews.

Watched Hostiles (Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike).  I liked it but thought the ending petered out with the train scene.   I wish they had ended it after the confrontation with the land owner in Montana.  They also wasted Wes Studi.

Little unrealistic. The date should have been around 1872, not 1892. Still, pretty good flick.

I’ll tread lightly here, Ethan Coen seems fascinated by lesbian stories. His last 2 films have focused on it and they haven’t done well.

Meanwhile Joel’s Macbeth was nominated for an Oscar. He’s winning the breakup.

Yeah, I thought about commenting on that.  The Commanches attacking the homestead early on seemed out of place.  Quannah Parker's Kwahadi band surrendered in 1875.  There really wasn't any Commanche activity by 1892.

He’s apparently doing a lesbian trilogy.

Fresh Horses. Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy, Viggo Mortensen, and Ben Stiller. Available on PlutoTv.

Wow. What a bleak piece of shit for a coming of age movie. They shot the whole thing in Cincinnati in the winter so it just looks gray, brown, and shitty throughout the film. Ringwald starts the movie with a bad Kentucky accent, and later drops it. McCarthy plays exactly the same character as Pretty in Pink. Stiller is supposed to be the comic relief, but he’s just brutally unfunny throughout. It’s very early in his career and it’s apparent he has no idea what he’s doing.

There’s really no story. McCarthy meets Ringwald, class and social conflict ensue, roll credits.

Saw Caught Stealing yesterday.  That is a lot of movie and kind of a mess tonally, but it was ultimately a fun time and a bit of a throwback.  I could see it being the perfect movie for a couple of drinks on a Friday night.  It moves and is twisting and turning until the end.

Holes. A Disney film which introduced the world to Shia LeBouf. Had never seen it, watched it with grandkids and it was pretty cool!

Classic kids movie. Features a very hot Sigourney Weaver.
