I guess no one has given Trump a puppet show or cartoon strip to teach him what all is involved in just “moving funding around”.

In fairness to Trump, all his adult life he has just "moved funding around".  Now, that means this vendor gets stiffed, this one gets paid, this one gets the run around until they receive half of what is owed, this loan covers that loan, that loan was used as a down payment on this property, that property was used to mortgage the other property, this bank is owed something to that bank, and so on.

It makes sense to Trump.

He probably sees SNAP, Social Security, and Medicare as similar to the Trump Foundation. Nobody really wants to help those people, so nobody cares what you do with the money.

Gonna be fucking funny when Nancy is just like “ummm no”

Yeah, it's Trump....but where did this $23 billion dollar figure come from?  I mean, for the better part of two months now, it's been $5.7 billion.

Or, did they word it in a way he would understand (you aren't getting $5.7 billion today, but you will get $23 billion after we gut food stamps for the rest of fiscal 2019)?

Quite the turnout tonight in El Paso.

“The party of socialism, late term abortion, open borders, and crime.”

The late term abortion is strong messaging and worth focusing on imo.

If the turnout was so great, why did he have to grossly lie about the numbers in attendance during the rally and again today? Why did he feel obligated to grossly lie about the numbers of the Beto rally...200-300 when actually the number was in the thousands.  Insecurity? Just a moral lapse? Has no respect for the intelligence of the populace?  Or does he just enjoy tossing aside the truth for the joy of showing loving Repubs that he is an arrogant smartass?

Haha

I'm really intrigued by the screenshots of the sets for their "news" programs. Because they all look like the one from "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," I can only imagine what prizes their guests win after answering questions "correctly."

Lol, he could have done this the first fucking time! Just make up a number and the idiots will believe it. Better yet tell them it’s already built. It’s not like any of them would go that close to Mexico themselves. M-13 would kill them immediately.

Trump: “Chuck and Nancy just gave me eleventy billion dollars and Mexico gave four bajillion. We built it last week. It’s beautiful, trust me.”

Trumpkins: “Yay! Lock her up!”

LMAO.  You’re really fucking stupid.  Where did you do your OB residency?  They need to shut that program down.

Hey there, buddy.

Find some OB colleagues. Ask them, if a mother gets acutely sick, is in “imminent danger”, in the third trimester is there any situation in which it is the standard of care, or makes any sense to kill the baby via D&C rather than just deliver it, in order to save the mom?

or you know, you may kill them both. Small detail, I guess

Let me help you with the math there.

Doing d&c on viable third trimester fetus=100% mortality rate for fetus

C-section maternal mortality is roughly 2 per 100,000.

That number above is for all sections performed so I’ll grant that in an emergent section the rate would be a little higher, but it’s still extremely rare.

Both procedures accomplish the same thing (removal of fetus), in roughly the same amount of time, requiring the same level of anesthesia.

Gawd, I thought we were done with the baby/ mother etc. posts yesterday. Obviously not. Take it somewhere else.

Need an "I'm an idiot who has idiotic opinions about abortion because they personally affect my vagina" for GRHorn.  No one should be this obsessed with abortion unless they have one.

Men who feel strongly pro-life - enough to freak out about it on the internet - creep me out.

Controlling motherfuckers. Dead giveaway.

Bingo.  The vast majority of the “pro-life” movement isn’t about “saving babies” at all.  It’s about oppressing and controlling women, and the desire to shove hypocritical, fake/pseudo-Christian religious beliefs down the throats of others.

That said, can we move back to how grossly incompetent and treasonous Trump and his entire administration is now?

Painting over a lot of Catholics with that.

I would argue the Catholic position on abortion is born from the same motivations.

It’s not like the Catholic Church has a long history of oppressing and controlling women within their patriarchal hierarchy and “values”.

Do either of these implicate the sincerity of their beliefs?

From @djrothkopf

Sometimes Barack Obama lied.  Sometimes his aides dissembled and spun.  They were imperfect and self-interested.  Bush and Clinton too and presidents since time immemorial.  But never has the White House dealt exclusively in lies and paranoid fantasies.

It has gotten so statements become lies upon lies upon lies upon lies upon lies (there is a caravan, we need a wall, we have part of it built, we will build more of it, it will help).  It is not Orwellian.  It is much much worse.  We live in a dystopia.

It is made worse because leaders of venerable institutions support the lies to advance their self-interest.  The president and his band of thugs have bullied the GOP into supporting their total war on truth.  Alarms have been sounded and ignored.

But there is an antidote: a fact for every lie.  But beyond fact-checking the president must be challenged every time he spins a crisis out of nothing, a success out of failure.  That is not just the work of fact-checkers.  It must be the work of people with public platforms.

In debates every time he lies a journalist or a candidate must challenge him. "That's not true, sir.  Here is the fact.  Look it up.  I'll post it on my website."  Every time.  If we do not, the lie takes root.  It Is validated.  This is demanding.  It is tedious.

But it is essential.  Or we will continue the drift from our moorings, sink into the dark void of lies that is the only place this president's corruption is virtue, his betrayals are triumphs, his abuses are charity, his thefts are gifts, his failures are successes.
