Trump might as well just get it over with and tweet out all n*ggers need to go back to Africa or whatever hellhole country they came from. I could go on with the various racial slurs possible for trump but you get the point.

I mean what’s stopping him? Mittens? The republicans? You know he wants to. It won’t hurt him with the hard core base.

I just don’t understand the Christians in all of this. Neither Trump nor the GOP is demonstrating behavior that is inline with Christian principles, except for the official church view on abortion. Why are these people staying with the Republican Party and Trump? I don’t get it.

Uh . . . not all Christians are Republicans.  Only Evangelical Protestants and Mormons lean Republican (56% and 70%, respectively).  In 2018, Protestants supported Republicans over Democrats 56/42.  Catholics supported Democrats over Republicans 50/49.

Plenty of Christians are outraged and have been letting you know about it.

Trump shouldn't have been so direct in his racism.  She has a furrowed brow over the whole situation.  But the lib social-commufascist antifa leftists deserved it cause the disagree with us, so that makes them bigots.  /What the cunt really tried to say.

Villifying Congresspersons as haters of America who should go back to where they came from is an abuse of power.

Calling citizens of the US (reporters) "enemies of the state" is a gross abuse of power.

No other president has or would do this. It's anti-democratic in the extreme.

Trump must be brought down.

Well that sums it up for me then...the three most naive groups of people in the United States (and best of all, my analysis is color/race-free)...Democrats, Republicans, and Christians.

LOL -- learn the difference between percentages and raw numbers.  That post even shows not quite half of white "mainline" Protestants support Trump.

I'm white.  I'm a Christian.  I think Trump is fucking evil and (decorum prevents me from saying what I'd like to say).  The VAST majority of my white Christian friends agree and are just as vocal.  Furthermore, this is not a local thing -- it's national.

Am I saying that an overwhelming majority of White Christians speak out against Trump?  No, I'm not.  I'm saying that far more than a small minority do.

Settle down. Nobody is saying that every Christian is a Trump lover. The majority of white Christians are, though. Maybe not a huge majority, but the majority  nonetheless, whereas minority Christians are overwhelmingly not.

That said, I don't assume that any religious person is a Trump supporter. Most of my church is liberal, though we go to one that skews south Austin hippie a bit. But if I was sitting next to a white baptist wearing an Alabama hat, I'm pretty sure they're an asshole.

he should "take it down"?  so all we be solved by deleting the tweets?  good god.

there is no solving this.  any normal person would attempt to walk it back by apologizing and probably claim they were somehow misunderstood.  but this ain't that.

this is a feature, not a glitch.

Good, because he's chipping away at his own base.  He lost two of my Facebook friends with this latest salvo.  Leading up to the election and for the first year of his administration these two friends were incredibly pro-trump, to the point of posting all kinds of stuff that turned out to be generated by Russians.  Then I noticed that about a year ago they both stopped.  This morning one said "Trump should not have said that"  and the other out-and-out said "This was the last straw. I've given up on him."  So, slowly, the 40% is being whittled down, drip by drip, with each display of spectacular incompetence/racism. He's also losing a little bit from his alt-right base.  By election time, only the hard core, incorrigible Trumpkins will vote for him. Not saying that either of these friends are going to vote for a Democrat (I could see one doing so, based on other past posts), but I could see them both just staying home on election day.

It’s great that your friends have abandoned Trump. But polls suggest the opposite. In fact some polls are showing Trump with his highest approval ratings of his presidency. Some are attributing that to the continued positive economic performance inspire of the Trump Trade Wars.

Implicit in that is "take it down, then tweet something less overtly racist in a day or two."

I never thought it was a full 40% that fully "support/like" him.  A hardcore 35-37% actually do - Crispy, Chicken Sandwich, Johnny Sack.  The rest are the Tahoes, Onboards and Slorch - "well golly, I just don't like him, but THOSE DAMN SOCIALIST COMMIE DEMOCRATS are making me have to like him."  They like the message, dislike the messenger, but approve of the actions.

not so much.

he's been upside down for his entire presidency, and basically stuck in the same place for all of 2019.

although i'm sure i could find a preseason poll that has texas in the top 3.

i've mentioned the article on here a few times, but someone did some good analysis with his numbers and found that the standard deviation of his approval rating was the lowest all time, meaning no one ever changes their mind on him.  And it is something like half of the standard deviation of the president with the 2nd smallest.

The two facebook friends anecdote.  The highest numbers in a long time.  They could both be true.  But they are meaningless in any larger scale because these changes we're talking about in either direction are microscopic.

for better or worse, this is why literally nothing matters.

mueller report, the economy, tariffs, racist tweets, yelling at reporters, rape allegations, not bombing iran...nothing. fucking. matters.

his numbers are where they are.  if people are still with him after all this, they're never leaving.  if people are not, they'll never be.  this is why after every incident - good or bad - the polling numbers haven't changed.

that's why the right pointing and laughing at the dem's healthcare stance at the debates is so hilarious.  none of it will matter.  people hate him.  and for good reason.

This is why I think I'm leaning towards not going for the moderate Rs.

If you're stupid enough to not understand that he is a threat to this country, I'm not sure why we should be trying to win you over.

Every person I see who is saying that the current D candidates are "too far left" are basically putting forth R talking points and saying they would vote for a D, but only if they cater to their "moderate" R positions.

Um, screw that.

You don't get to hold a party hostage by essentially threatening to vote for pure evil if you don't get your way.

Lol c'mon man. You're clearly being defensive and upset.

I don't even know what point you're making? That there are probably more white Christian anti-Trump people in raw number than non-white Christian? Well yeah, because there's a lot more white people. Good job...?

You willingly support a racist piece of shit for president.

Interesting that he never gave names or physical descriptions of the Congresswomen that were the subjects of his tweets.  Yet everyone is assuming precisely which ones they think he is talking about.  Ever stop to wonder why that is?    Now, who is making assumptions about race?

https://www.axios.com/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-poll-democrats-2020-aeaa3771-f142-4059-b79e-1fed569dfdf9.html

(You will notice this is Axios, not Breitbart, not the Daily Caller, not the Daily Wire.)

The findings:

  • Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.

Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.

  • Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.
  • "Socialism is toxic to these voters," said the top Democrat.

These are voters in swing states that were polled.  (i.e. the voters the Democrats will need to keep the house and win the presidency)

that's adorable.  you should probably watch today's video (posted upthread).

then you should give some thought to taking a couple plays off to regroup.

Well, when your demographic is getting lumped in with Trump supporters, it can be a little disconcerting.

Don't blame Christians.  Blame Christians who support Trump.  Plenty of the former recognize the unreal levels of hypocrisy exhibited by Trumpkins.

I agree with you there and think what you're saying is fair. But the original point whoever was making is that supporting Trump is anti-Christian (true) and to that end it's astonishing that the majority of Christians support Trump (also true).

Holy smokes.  How many "Progressive Democrat Congresswomen" were born outside of the US?  Come on, man.  Trump is an idiot for thinking The Squad is all foreign-born, but you're gonna have to do a little work to identify who he was speaking about if it wasn't those four women.  Hint:  there are only 89 women in Congress who are Democrats.  Whittle that down by "Progressive" and you're starting with a fairly small group, especially if you exclude The Squad.

I'm trying to figure out just how fucking stupid one has to be in order to make such an argument and believe it will fly.

They're just trying to gaslight.  They don't actually think anyone will be persuaded by their nonsense.  Hell, these are the same people who are still yelling about 57 states, now trying to contort everything dotard says into something profound.

What does gaslight mean?  I have heard that term used a bunch but in different ways with no consistent meaning.

To try and make someone think they're crazy by making them doubt what they've observed is reality.

i.e. you didn't actually read a tweet in which trump was a raging racist.  He meant x, y, or z and you just imagined the virulent racism because you're deluded.
