Nolan makes his Bond film: Tenet

Recommended Posts

According to Deadline, the movie is called Tenet and it’s a globetrotting action epic about spies and espionage. Like actual spy missions, details about the film’s plot are being kept top secret for now. That said, the star-studded cast, which includes Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, John David Washington, and Elizabeth Debicki, is so damn good that we don’t need any more information. Furthermore, on the musical front, Black Panther’s Ludwig Göransson will provide the score.

Yeah, my reaction wasn’t “star-studded cast.”   It was “Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh - that’s cool but how old are they now - and, ugh, Twilight guy, and ... other names that I’ll trust are real.”

Still looking forward to a Nolan spy movie, though.

Yeah, but he has a good eye for acting talent.  I didn't know who Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy were when Inception came out.

Well, Inception came out before Dark Knight Rises, Warrior, etc.  And I guess I didn't remember his name from Black Hawk Down or Band of Brothers a decade earlier.  Point being, he wasn't a household name yet, and I'm sure some of the actors above that we haven't heard of yet have acting chops, too.

Man, fuck you and you regarded title. It's a SPY movie, nothing to do with James Bond.

I'll see it for sure, since I love Nolan, but there is no reason to sensationalize it.

Now that we have a trailer are we allowed to nitpick and bag on it?  For example:

Robert Pattison is good form depicting an effeminate sparkly vampire, and that's about it. He's gonna drag the movie down.

This is just Inception 2.

The score is loud and overbearing.

Massive plot holes.

Anna Kendrick has vocal and singing talents she could lean on to land very different roles from Twilight.

The guys from the Twilight movies don't seem to have much beyond what they did in those movies.

One of these days Pattinson may escape the Twilight ghetto the way Anna Kendrick did.

He's the new Batman I guess.  And FWIW, I was being sarcastic with my comments above.

Looks like some playing with time in this?

Would you expect anything else from Nolan, not that I'm complaining.

Seriously? You no Rockn Rolla, Van Helsing or Star Trek? I believe all of those efforts were before Inception?

Nolan is my favorite director and I always make a point to go see his movies in 70mm but I am skeptical on this one after seeing the trailer. I am sure I will like it but I was more fired up before I saw the trailer.

I was thinking the same thing. I think Nolan is a genius but damn his movies can get confusing and complicated.

It'll be nice to have a movie where I don't know what the fuck just happened until I've had some time to think about it or watch it again.

So when does this come out on the streaming services?

If they're sticking to their July 17 release date, it's gonna hafta be on Netflix at the same time.

Believe he’s pushing for Tenet to be the first major release post-quarantine.

It will suffer at the box office regardless but probably better than putting on the shelf until late 2020
