  3. Oh fuck you. Unlike some on here, I don't immediately demonize people who voted for Trump in 2020. I have a few people in my life who did so who I'd consider good, intelligent people. They don't follow politics that closely, and it's really fucking hard to break free from decades of "if you want to keep your money, are religious, don't want socialism, or support cops or the military, you vote R" propaganda. It pretty much makes no difference who the candidate is. It's disheartening and short-sighted, but I get it. But anybody who, not only doesn't regret their vote for Trump after seeing everything that has transpired from Nov. 4 until now--the effortless and shamelessness in which they lie to push through voter suppression and election laws, 1/6, the continued demand for fealty to one man, the insane rhetoric and dangerous conspiracy theories--but wants the next best thing to Trump himself in 2024 is a piece of shit. Full stop. Keep telling yourself that it's about policies and agendas if that makes your feel better about yourself, but you're fooling no one.

  7. So ... when the Space Shuttle program wrapped up, there was a distribution of program artifacts to various museums across the country. Of course, aggy-being-aggy, they lobbied *HARD* to get something to show how connected they were to the space program. They were granted a pretty substantial allocation by being given the Shuttle Motion Base simulator (a full six-degree-of-freedom simulator used throughout the entire program). This was a BIG DEAL and had aggy actually done something with it, it would've been a fairly big feather in their Texum Bulldogs cap. However - the only way to describe what actually happened is "aggy". It was delivered to CS in 2012 and promptly sat in boxes gathering dust for almost a decade - for at least awhile in non-climate-controlled buildings. It even has an entry on aggypedia where they claimed "lack of funds", even though they had been required to show they had full funding for displaying this artifact before they were granted award of it. WELL! FINALLY! A group in Houston has raised private funds and saved this incredible piece of Shuttle crew training history and is in the process of having it returned it to Houston. The first shipment is being unboxed now (literally this week) and will be set up in the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington AFB at some point in the near future (LSFM is about 15 minutes away from JSC). Had aggy not fucked it up so badly, this could've been a major attraction *YEARS* ago. Now, some old friends (including a number of volunteers who used to actually work daily with the simulators) are unboxing to see what damage has been done by aggy negligence.

  8. Yeah that’s the way it is on the baseball board. We have a nice quiet message board community with die hards watching Tuesday night games talking to ourselves. Then the post season comes along and the recruiting nerds come rubbing in here all “hurrrr durrrr hit the ball! Worst loss ever!!!!” It’s amazingly annoying

  9. counterpoint: start the game and play 5 innings to that both teams have to pitch starters and can't come back. rain delay to morning so that both teams have to pitch second starters in the morning so we get the third pitcher in winner's bracket. just sayin'.

  11. Exactly. An ex-president who served only one term SHOULD choose a life of happiness, and maybe even service to others, so that he is at peace, and enjoys his place in the universe (see Jimmy Carter). OR.....he can plunge even further into psychosis, consuming whatever is left of his own soul with bitterness, anger, and absolute insanity. That is a good thing to wish for Trump. And it seems our wish is coming true.

  15. How do you know that Jimmy Carter didn't plunge into psychosis, consuming his soul with bitterness, anger, and insanity, and just channeled all of that anger and insanity into building houses, hammering away at nails instead of going on a mass-murder spree?

  16. It's really this. And ironically, that sort of attitude has now made such single-issue voting the proper path. Are you in favor of the undermining of our electoral systems, granting to partisan officials the authority to overturn any election result that would remove their party from power, and making voting harder for people, and the list goes on? A list that, by the way, requires you to decide that a violent assault on Congress is a-ok, and/or you'll lie about it and call people bashing Capitol police officers with flagpoles and fire extinguishers "tourists going to the gift shop." Then vote GQP. If you DON'T believe in those things, then you have to vote Dem. These are no-compromise, no-gray-area issue. you either believe in a Republic that is governed by the voters, who have a fair chance of changing its course by voting and having their votes actually determine election results, or you believe in a system where the most vulnerable are targeted to have their ability to vote limited, and on top of that, for GQP officials to simply declare "nope, the election that the Dem won was rigged, the Repub wins." It's fascinating that the GQP has devolved to a point where that's the determinative issue. The rest is irrelevant window-dressing, because if we don't get to have free and fair elections again, then policy positions don't fucking matter. Fuck fascists. Fuck those who enable them in the interest of preserving their personal comfort. It never works out that way, you ignorant dumbfucks. It all turns to shit, and all the shit you thought you were protecting gets ruined anyway. Always choose to preserve democratic checks and balances. Always oppose fascist bullshittery. And I can't believe that I live in a timeline where I have to type those last two sentences, but here we are.

  23. How the fuck does this idiot have as much rep as he has? I’ve never read a post from him and thought: “I’m glad I read that.” It is a constant barrage of equivocating for Ohio State, whining about hot women, saying stupid shit about food, and generally just being uninteresting and depressing with his posts. Seriously, who are the fucking idiots on this site giving insipid nonentities like this positive reinforcement for his posts? Fuck all of you who do it, btw.

  32. First, the United States has the most aggressive system for taxing foreign income after the 2017 TCJA. Just because income is not taxed in Ireland doesn’t mean it’s not taxed in the US. Currently US companies are required to include deemed dividends in US taxable income based on the net income of its foreign subsidiaries under the GILTI regime. This deemed inclusion is subject to a potential 50% deduction and the US tax can be reduced by foreign tax credits. This Microsoft example is a horrible example as majority of the profits relates to a bullshit accounting gain from the liquidation of the certain subsidiaries of the company. Under the US system, there is likely zero taxable income because generally the liquidations of corporate subs into a parent company is tax free. Prior to the TCJA, the Irish company with Bermuda residency generated sizable tax benefits; however, under the current system, it’s likely subject to 10.5% US income tax. One can certainly argue if the rate is too low, etc.
