This always works- “Can we take a step back for a second. What is it we want to accomplish?”

I always go with the "You caught me multi-tasking, can you repeat the question?" . Makes it somewhat honest, and it sounds like you were doing actual work and not reading Surly.

I'll be honest, I don't like this from Toviano

He tweeted a winky face on Johnson's decommitment. Seems to insinuate that theres a bigger plan? That he's (Johnson) going to LSU?

If Johnson is going to LSU, would that help us with Williams.  According to Surly posters, they only have so many spots left for DBs.

Notre Dame commitment Peyton Bowen is scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Texas Saturday for the TCU game.

The On3 Consensus 5-star and No. 19 ranked prospect overall in the 2023 cycle is expected to make the visit with young brother, 2024 cornerback Eli Bowen.

The Longhorns offered On3 Consensus 3-star Eli Bowen November 4 after members of the Texas staff watched Denton Guyer.

Peyton Bowen committed to Notre Dame January 1, 2022. Since that time, he has been on campus at both Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Alabama. He has been considered a “soft” commitment since June with the Sooners and Aggies receiving the most potential flip mention.

The Longhorns have worked to gain traction with Peyton Bowen at various points in the last few months without much success.

Inside Texas will have more on Bowen’s visit when available.

No. 18 Texas hosts No. 4 TCU on Saturday from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The recruiting visitor list is impressive and continues to grow. We’ll update as we confirm more recruits.

Official Visitors

Duce Robinson, TE, Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle

Texas has two tight ends in the 2023 cycle – Will Randle and Spencer Shannon – but you don’t turn down a prospect like Robinson. Also a standout on the baseball field, Robinson has been in contact with the Texas baseball staff as well. Georgia and USC are thought to be the front-runners in this recruitment.

DeAndre Moore Jr., WR, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco – Louisville commit

Likely one wide receiver spot remains open with the Cali-bred prospect heading to Austin this weekend. Moore took a visit to Georgia last weekend and the Dogs remain in the hunt. This’ll be Moore’s second trip on the Forty Acres.

Markis Deal, DL, Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest

The Texas-TCU matchup could be for Deal’s signature on signing day. At 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, the four-star and On3 No. 5 interior offensive lineman in the Class of 2023 holds double-digit offers including Georgia, Texas A&M, and USC. But this one might come down to Horns or Frogs.

Unofficial Visitors

Jaden Greathouse, WR, Austin (Texas) Westlake – Notre Dame commit

Freddie Dubose, WR, Smithson Valley (Texas) – 2024

Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, Mesa (Az.) Red Mountain – USC commit **potential official visit

Andre Cojoe, OL, Mansfield (Texas) Timberview – #AllGasNoBrakes

Connor Stroh, OL, Frisco (Texas) Wakeland – #AllGasNoBrakes

Payton Kirkland, OL, Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips – #AllGasNoBrakes

Michael Uini, OL, Copperas Cove (Texas) – 2024

Colton Vasek, EDGE, Austin (Texas) Westlake

Daykus Brinkley, EDGE, Katy (Texas) Seven Lakes – 2024

Anthony Hill, LB, Denton (Texas) Ryan

Derion Gullette, LB/EDGE, Teague (Texas) – #AllGasNoBrakes

Liona Lefau, LB, Kahuku (Ha.) – #AllGasNoBrakes

Jai Eugene Jr., S, Destrehan (La.) High

Peyton Bowen, S, Denton (Texas) Guyer – Notre Dame commit

Eli Bowen, CB, Denton (Texas) Guyer – 2024

Javien Toviano, DB, Arlington (Texas) Martin

Bravion Rogers, CB, LaGrange (Texas) – Texas A&M commit

Braylon Conley, CB, Humble (Texas) Atascocita – 2024

Corian Gipson, S, Lancaster (Texas) – 2024

Jelani McDonald, ATH, Waco (Texas) Connally

Ketch always throws out this crazy stat about how since the internet recruiting era started (i.e. the 2002 recruiting cycle) that over half of the 6'5 (or taller) blue-chip EDGE recruits from the state of Texas ended up being NFL draft picks. Seeing that stat makes it obvious why the UT staff had both Vasek & Bralyon Shelby as higher priorities over Akana.

At the same time I can see why folks like BornAndRaised are high on Akana. UT doesn't have any EDGE player on their roster who is a relentless high-motor speed rusher like Akana appears to be on his junior highlight film.

Watching yesterday's OB Monday Overreaction livestream and Ketch says he considers Vasek a borderline 5-star recruit & that Vasek is even better prospect than Ethan Burke was last recruiting cycle.

Anyways, do we know if Vasek will be an EE?
