That Kansas State game was the most intoxicated I have ever been and second is not even close. I threw my shoe at one point, probably after the 3rd or 4th Applewhite turnover. It was such an impressive display my GF of 3 years decided I was not marriage material and I think I have held an unwarranted grudge against The Major ever since.

For me, it was the 2016 TCU game.  That game was not nearly as "close" as the final score indicated and it was one of biggest displays of offensive futility of the Charlie Strong era - which is really saying something. Obviously, it was also right after the KU disaster. I blacked out just before halftime, which was pretty merciful in hindsight. Unfortunately, I was also at my in-laws for Thanksgiving, which didn't go over so well with my wife. Or her parents. Or her grandparents.

That was Charlie's last game, right? I watched that with a big grin on my face.

Mine was in Park City, UT for the TCU game in 2012. The place we rented out had a big media room and me and my buddy watched the game on a giant screen while the wives and kids did whatever upstairs. I don’t remember the second half but wine, beer and apparently skoal wound up spilled and strewn all over the white carpet.

Cleaning that up and hearing about it the next day was a grim, grim experience. Worst I’ve ever been for a game. I should probably just start doing that level of drinking before every TCU game.

That was the game where we kept trotting Ash out, even though he was so badly wounded he couldn't even move, right?  And then we plugged in Case late in the game and almost clawed our way back into it?  I have fucking nightmares about that game, too.

The Cal game that ended at 1:30 am for me

Don't forget that CS's defenders (cdt and Sweet Jones, I assume, don't feel like searching) kept telling everyone it was just a one-score loss. The Cal guy dropped the ball untouched just as he was crossing the goal line on a long run in the last minute or so. It went into the books as a one-TD loss, but it was much worse than that.

I drank 4 each of Grapefruit and Habenero Sculpin IPAs and went to bed pissed and drunk. Sunday morning wasn't good to me.

I had some friends over. Looked at my phone after I woke up in the morning to find a text- “just in case you don’t remember, we lost to Cal”

I didn’t remember

Funny how folks ridiculed Mensa for similar statement as the one highlighted below... Guess the old Augie statement about "Winners" applies.

At his signing day presser earlier this week, Norvell was asked about how he’d be able to sign key targets without his new staff entirely in place. The answer he provided morphed from recruiting into how he has handled staff turnover, and both centered on one key thing – being open and honest.

Mike Norvell: “I tell these young men that my job is to not only develop them, but to also develop the coaches we hire. With that being said, there is a chance that they will come and be a part of our program and within the next four years, their position coach is going to change because they’re going to get promoted. They are going to get head coaching opportunities. That is what I aspire to do for every coach on our staff because that is part of my obligation. Someone did that for me at one point.”

Not surprising, but depressing, that the most blackout anyone here has gotten for a Texas football game has happened almost unanimously in the past decade.

2008 Texas - Texas Tech. Roommate and I didn't say a word after the game. Went straight to the freezer and pulled out the Jager. Can't remember much besides yelling about Crabtree and Blake Gideon.

Not for me. Very late 90s, we were playing (I think) NC State. Maybe Stanford. We were obviously the better team, but we lost because they blocked 3 punts. I think the same guy, lining up in the same place, blocked all 3. I got so drunk, I blacked out and was told I opened a window and pissed through the screen.

My apologies if you were sitting in the northeast, lower section of DKR and were struck by a random New Balance but it just seemed better than throwing my empty pint of whiskey.

Besides, I already threw that empty pint earlier in the game.

See, I was under some kind of weird delusion that: 1) Charlie was already automatically gone after KU; and 2) the kids would come out and fight like hell for him to win one on the way out.

It occurred to me that Powers might try to keep Charlie with a win because hE's SuCh A gOoD gUy, but I was under the delusion that losing KU had sealed his fate no matter what. In hindsight, you're 100% correct - as miserable as watching that shitshow was, it was probably for the best because it removed any excuse Powers might have had for keeping Strong.

On the bright side, it was rental. I'm guessing you didn't get the deposit back, though.

I really don't even drink that much anymore - certainly not like I used to. But there's something special about our games against TCU since they joined the Big XII that just makes me want to crawl inside a bottle of whiskey before those Saturdays.

NC State to open the '99 season...my first game freshman year.

I’d bought a big screen TV (huge rear-projection one back then) and had it delivered the day before. This was it’s maiden game. Almost threw a bottle at it after the third blocked punt. Wife wasn’t pleased (don’t make TV destruction money on active duty).

Thanks to pregame and an obnoxiously large flask I do not remember the third blocked punt.

That was the night of my first anniversary. I was too pissed off to sex the wife. Viagra wouldn’t have worked for me either. That game was a top 3 disappointment. 1. Tech 2008 2. 2001 Big 12 CCG Colorado 3. Bama 09

I watched that game sober in the student section. I’d graduated but my buddies hadn’t. We were the only people in the stadium screaming about Greg Davis sucking. Just a horrible day.

I'm in my 50s and yes it seems the blackouts started happening more frequently ever since _iaz introduced the gator roll.

I sort of knew the punter. Talking to him about that game was like talking to a Vietnam vet.

My 5 football seasons as a student were 97-01 so basically bookended by Route 66 and 2001 ccg, with nc state, Apple turnover (that was a hot game too) and some less than great ou games in between.

My 5 football seasons as a student were 2005 to 2010 so starting with VY winning a natty when I was a freshman and Colt  McCoy vs. Bama as a Super Senior. Never did I realize that we would never be that great again. Talk about being spoiled when you didn't even know what you had on hand.

Fenves had already taken over at this point. Remember, he was on the trip to Tulsa to win over Sterlin Gilbert. But Ol Giblets couldn’t save Charlie.

Turns out the cake wasn’t baked, but his goose was cooked.

I need to have a drink now that you mentioned those three games. I was at the stadium for 2001 and bama.
