Yeah, she's right.  His "pledge" to surrender all gains (to what or whom?) is about as toothful as Donald's "pledge" to turn over his POTUS salary.

The rules are clear.  He's dancing on the head of a pin, with great concern and gravitas, I might add.  LMAO.

Welp, it finally happened. I snapped in public today. I went into work for a bit this morning because I’m trying to figure out the safest way to host physicians we are recruiting given our CV-19 sit

  • I don't really know what to say anymore tbh. What happened last night is hard to put into words for anyone who hasn't worked in a hospital healthcare setting. Just unreal. Everyone is getting fucked.

New highs in Wisconsin, Montana and South Dakota this weekend (and maybe Utah but the article isn't clear if it's a local peak or an overall peak).

Also estimated that only 10% of americans have been exposed (tho the study is dialysis patients so I wonder if there's a selection bias - on the one hand they might be more inclined to stay home but on the other they largely can't)

Yeah, I'd take the under.

I think 10% is a good number to get some action.  I'll take the over, but it's a close call, I think.

What's important to remember is, no matter what the number, we all lose.  Because 2020.

Agree its a good line. I am going under since dialysis patients are over representative of higher COVID risk racial and ethnic minorities, but if the under hits it's probably not by a whole lot.

So if true does that mean we only need 2 million more dead to achieve “herd mentality?”

I just realized that all media discussion of the number of deaths is the lower bounds for the CDC estimate.  When we say 200,000 are dead from this, it is us being *hopeful.*  That is the very tail end of the bell curve.

The actual range is 208,000 - 274,000.

I bet Trump Twitter celebrates when India passes the US in number of cases in 2 or 3 weeks. Classless bastard

They made a list of more than 30 celebrities including Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Billy Joel to appear in their ad campaign to "inspire hope" about coronavirus, but they ended up with only Dennis Quaid, CeCe Winans and Hasidic singer Shulem Lemmer.

Yeah, how fucked are we that I thought, "Well, I bet they at least got Randy Quaid.  Aaaaaaaannnnnnnd, it's Dennis.  Well at least they probably get a famous Hasidic singer like Matisyahu.  Aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnd, it's Shulem Lemmer."

OUCH, that is going to leave a mark! Thanks Anastasis. That some who claim to understand science still cling to their beliefs in spite of mountains of high quality evidence is utterly beyond my comprehension.

Ha, HCQ works really well if you don't take it.

Green Bay Packers of Rallies May Want to Promote Mask Usage This Weekend. FWIW, October weather in Green Bay and Wisconsin in general is usually lovely, so hopefully they will have the rally outside to minimize contagion.

Wisconsin had their worst covid day to date yesterday.  It has blown up in several of their college towns.

It sure looks like there's a natural cycle of this disease and our population -- an initial spike, and then a second spike.  The timing clearly varies, but the mid-summer spike Texas saw?  Everyone else is going to see one, too (except maybe NY, because they had such a large first spike).  It's going to be interesting to see if Wisconsin's second spike looks like what we saw in July or so.

Texas passed New Jersey in total deaths to takes the #2 spot behind New York. Way to go assholes

Someone mentioned an interesting point on Twitter. Trump was with Amy Coney Barrett over the weekend. Does she need to quarantine? Does this delay confirmation hearings?

EDIT: looks like she's been tested.

Holy cow.  Texas is underreporting Covid-19 deaths by 42%?  Probably more, since that article stopped reporting data in late summer.  Greg Abbott, fuck that guy.

We already have "herd mentality."  Look at the herd of lemmings that follow Trump around.

Just got an email that one of the Macanudo-ettes was exposed in class on Monday.  Yay us.
