Maybe but it's pretty obvious the Holgo experiment is on its last legs. This is where Houston ranks in FEI since Holgo was hired.

Winning 8 games in the American doesn't say much. This is a bad, bad, bad program right now.

And it is glorious. Holgerson is a shithead and sucks at recruiting. He’ll stumble around and burn that thing down before it’s all said and done.

In the meantime, I’ll be buying dirt cheap tickets for our game there next month and enjoying the lack of UH talk around town until basketball starts up.

UH football is a phoenix though. No matter what happens to it, it will find its way back into the top 25 within a few years, at least for a bit.

Maybe I should give their 190 proof whiskey a chance.

Amy Adams Strunk is pure f***ing evil.  Coug High wore the uniforms several weeks ago and the NFL/Titans didn’t say shit. But the Titans wear Oilers uniforms this week and then threaten legal action. It’s just petty and small.

Sources: Willie Fritz bringing two key off-field staff members to Houston

Fritz securing personnel, football operations

JOHN BRICE        3 HOURS AGO

Willie Fritz is still assembling his on-field assistant coaching staff at Houston, which hired away Fritz from Tulane over the weekend, but he has secured a pair of key off-the-field moves.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Wes Fritz is joining his father's staff in the role of director of player personnel for the Houston Cougars. He had spent the past eight seasons in a similar role at Tulane and also served as the Green Wave's pro liaison.

Additionally, Fritz is bringing with him Shane Meyer as his director of football operations.

The 2022 FootballScoop Operations Director of the Year, Meyer spent his playing career under Fritz at Central Missouri and had served as the ops head for Fritz at Georgia Southern before he also followed Fritz to Tulane.

Fritz previously told FootballScoop of Meyer, "Shane takes care of everything so all players and coaches need to do is go win football games.

"With Shane, he's so smart. He was a three-time Academic All-American when he played for me. On top of that, though, it's the work he puts in. He does it all for our program."

Houston rewarded Willie Fritz with a five-year deal, per some terms of the contract that the University of Houston released Monday.  Fritz has been slated to earn a guaranteed base salary of $4.5 million per year.

The $4.5 million salary for Fritz is a significant raise from what Fritz made atop the Tulane program, though neither his exact salary nor buyout is known due to Tulane's status as a private institution.

---------------------------------------------

Unless a settlement was reached between Holgorsen and Houston to reduce the buyout, the former coach is owed approximately $14.5 million after his dismissal late last month.

Update on Willie Fritz's staff at Houston

Willie Fritz is set to bring a number of assistants with him from the Big Easy to H-Town.

ZACH BARNETT       16 HOURS AGO

Willie Fritz has left Tulane for Houston, and a number of staff members are making the move with him from the Big Easy to H-Town.

Offensive coordinator Slade Nagle, defensive coordinator Shiel Wood, wide receivers coach Derrick Sherman and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman will take the same positions at Houston, according to 247Sports.

Additionally, sources tell FootballScoop's Doug Samuels that Green Wave analyst James Ross III will become the Cougars' inside linebackers coach.

247 also reports Fritz is expected to retain Houston offensive line coach Eman Naghavi.

FootballScoop reported last week that Wes Fritz, Willie's son, will also come along as director of player personnel, and Shane Meyer will make the move as director of football operations.

Nagle, named interim head coach in between Fritz's departure and Friday's hiring of Jon Sumrall, was with Fritz for the entirety of his 8-season run at Tulane. Wood joined Tulane's staff this year after helping win a Sun Belt championship at Troy.

You can absolutely trademark look and feel.

No, it has to be more than that. If they got rid of the stripes on the helmet and shoulder it likely wouldn’t be an issue.

So where is the line drawn? There aren’t an infinite number of colors, and there are many examples of teams having the same color combos (Jets and (old) Eagles, Patriots/Texans, Iowa/Steelers, ND St./Packers), or where they share the same logo (Georgia/Grambling/Packers, LA/CSU Rams, A&M/80s Hawaii, etc.).

I assume this was a warning shot at the Texans for announcing they are changing their color scheme to “H-town Blue” next year after the Adams family’s long time refusal to give/sell the Oilers rights back to a franchise in Houston out of their cunty spite at politicians long gone.

There literally is. Light is an infinite spectrum.

And the colors of nfl teams and such are not vague shit like "blue," they are extremely specific pantome color codes, i.e. PMS 279 for the light blue and PMS 186 for the red. There are literally billions of pantome combinations and yet UH used the exact same pantome color combination as the specific oilers colors.

Further, the placement of the stripes in the specific position and color arrangements, the placement of the word "houston," etc.

All this shit has been trademarkable for generations. The colors are literally the mark of this trade, to the point everyone immediately correctly guessed which trademark they were imitating. It was never ambiguous. If you can confuse one team for another to the degree that you wonder if its an official sponsorship or promotion, then yeah, you are violating trademark.

The line is drawn either where they settle or where the court decides.

The Titans own the old Oilers brand. They send a cease and desist to UH. UH can ask for clarification on where the Titans would be satisfied that they are no longer threatening their trademark/brand.

If the Titans say remove the stripes and UH agrees then that is the line. If the Titans try and claim that ANY use of those colors is unacceptable to them then UH can ignore the cease and desist and make the Titans take them to court to legally determine where the line is.

As I stated before, the color combinations is likely not something that would be enforceable but the colors and the stripes is likely a bridge too far.

Fuck the Titans. They quit the city, they quit the team. They don't Oiler at all.

This is one of the many shortfalls of the copyright/trademark/patent system. If you're not going to make copies, you lose the copyright. Let someone use that stuff.

I'm assuming the Titans are still owned by Adamses? Fuck them for being such unbelievable chickenshits.
