Interesting requirements to become an air traffic controller...

edited to add - I think we're kinda fucked unless they incentivize this role a bit more.  In my life, I've heard of exactly 1 person who was an ATC.

Friend's brother is a retired air traffic controller after spending some time in the air force.  He's long retired.

It's super high stress and thankless.

Right now, there are around 15k air traffic controllers.  At $150k/year, that's around $2.25B per year to guarantee the safety of roughly 2.9 million passenger trips per day.  2.9 million passenger trips per day works out to around 1 billion trips per year in/out of US airports.  A additional $3 FAA surcharge per trip could easily fix this problem.

Basic Air Traffic Controller qualifications

All applicants to the air traffic controller program must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be under the age of 31
  • Pass a medical examination
  • Pass a security investigation
  • Pass the FAA air traffic pre-employment tests, including the Air Traffic Controller Specialists Skills Assessment Battery (ATSA)
  • Speak English clearly enough to be understood over communications equipment
  • Have one year of progressively responsible work experience, or a Bachelor's degree, or a combination of post-secondary education and work experience that totals one year

Your plane is delayed for 2 hours. You are stuck on the tarmac waiting to take off. And this shit happens. What is your reaction?

There are mixed reports on whether she sang for 3 mins or 45 mins. I'm going with 3 mins feeling like it took 45 mins.

Watching 22 seconds of that felt like 45 minutes.

A British Airways flight attendant was caught dancing naked in business class on BA 286 from San Francisco to London Heathrow on May 27th following a reported drug binge in the lavatory.

Spoiler

Shortly after takeoff, passengers and crew noticed the male cabin crew member seeming agitated and distracted. He allegedly began using cocaine openly in a bathroom on the aircraft. Eyewitnesses reported that he then returned to the business class cabin and stripped naked and performed what was described by witnesses as a “wild, drug-induced dance.”

I was intrigued until I opened the “reveal hidden contents” tab. Has disappointment.

Ah fuck, now I gotta smuggle a can of bear spray on board?

Pro-tip, just get some Ghost Pepper oil and carry it in a TSA legal 3 Oz spray bottle.

Well, sure but think about the jail house and NA chat about the topic.

What are you in for?

Hi, my name is Flight Attendant Mike, and I'm a narcotics addict.

In your eagerness, you obviously missed the "British Airways" part of the "British Airways" flight attendant. They got some battle axes working on BA.

Viral ‘Crazy Plane Lady’ Launches New Career
June 4, 2025 by David Jones

Tiffany Gomas, a marketing executive who gained fame after a video of her having a meltdown on an airplane went viral in 2023, is embarking on a new career path. The 40-year-old, known for her outburst on an American Airlines flight, is set to become a content creator for Passes, as reported by TMZ.

Gomas, who was previously rumored to be joining OnlyFans, a platform known for adult content, has instead opted for Passes, a platform that prohibits explicit content. She has pledged to provide her followers with “unfiltered, unexpected and unapologetic” glimpses into her life.

Gomas, who earned the moniker “crazy plane lady” after her infamous airplane incident, plans to share behind-the-scenes looks at her life, including her work, workouts, pets, sports, and fashion. She encourages potential subscribers to direct message her, hinting that’s where the real excitement happens. She signs off with a playful reference to her airplane incident, writing, “Thanks for flying with me,” accompanied by a lips emoji.

Subscribers will need to pay $9.99 a month to gain access to Gomas’ content. This is the lowest tier available on her page, which also includes discounts on her merchandise.

Gomas first made national news when she disrupted an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Orlando. She rushed to the front of the plane, declaring she was going to deboard because a fellow passenger was “not real.”

Since then, Gomas has maintained her public presence, appearing on podcasts, YouTube shows, and even giving tours of her stylish Texas home. She has also clarified that her airplane outburst was not due to any supernatural or otherworldly experiences, but rather a heated altercation with another passenger.

Despite the negative attention, Gomas has managed to turn her notoriety into a new career opportunity. She has been working at Uppercut Marketing, LLC since 2016, according to her LinkedIn page, which is no longer active.

Those aren’t KLM. Their uniforms, while blue, don’t look anything like that.

Had an absolute smokeshow on Icelandair a couple weeks ago.  No pics, weirdos.  Just think of the sexiest 6 foot tall, blue eyed Icelandic woman you can think of and that's her. Did not get as lucky on the flight home.

This is great. When I initially saw the video, I became suddenly interested in finding out more about her and her relationship with her cat.
