Another reason the US is so protective of Israel, is there are over 700k American citizens there, either full, or part time. Over forty of the 1200 victims from October 7th were American citizens. If Israel was wiped off the face of the Earth, it would be like killing everyone in Wyoming. Same reason we won't see anything from the Russians, three million of the Israeli settlers are Russian jews.

1.3m israelis speak russian, this includes israeli-born descendants of russian immigrants living and passed

Russia doesn't give that much of a fuck about its own Orthodox citizens and fuckin expelled most of those Jews or made life unpleasant for them.  That's a smokescreen for something else.

Just like today, US politicians are mostly deathly afraid of crossing/losing AIPAC.  There may have been some actual concern at one point for worldwide Jewry but it's pretty much all AIPAC and Fundy eschatology these days.

Ain't that the shit.

We've got a bunch of Christian extremists supporting a bunch of Jewish extremists because the Christian extremists want to accelerate the end of the world while the Jewish extremists believe that their sky daddy gave them some special dirt along with permission to kill everyone who's already living on that dirt.

Meanwhile, we got a bunch of Muslim extremists pissed off at the Jewish extremists because some magic man floated up to a sky paradise from that piece of dirt, plus, they were already there.

This, and an unquenchable thirst for oil, is what's driving our foreign policy for a big ol' chunk of this little blue dot we all have to share.

Lovely.

So let me get this straight. People were totally exaggerating, Iran is not a threat to us. But also now we need to watch out for sleeper cells activated in our own country?

Such an odd take, though one that much of the board agrees with. There are parts of each of your 3 paragraphs that are just wrong.

False premise.

The original question was:  is Iran a nuclear threat to us or the world?  That question subsumes both whether they're close to a nuclear weapon, and, like North Korea, whether being a nuclear power poses that much of a threat, really.

A different question was whether Iran was a terrorrist threat to us or to anyone else.  The clear answer to that is yes.  But that wasn't the casus belli.

And, as usual when we provoke Islamic terror states. there is a high possibility of terroristic action.

Over generalization, perhaps, but not wrong.

  • Accurate Christian extremists supporting a bunch of Jewish extremists because the Christian extremists want to accelerate the end of the world

First two are fringe elements that do not control policy and decision. Third is rich considering Jews were there first, long before that magic man existed. Fourth, this isn’t about anyone’s resource grab for oil. Oil will be a factor limited to the world coming down on Iran if they block the Strait commerce.

It was a simpleton post that sounds cute.

Trump is going to primary Republicans who opposed him on Iran.

https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114728311939211877

Quote

Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is. Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him. He is a negative force who almost always Votes “NO,” no matter how good something may be. He’s a simple minded “grandstander” who thinks it’s good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling “DEATH TO AMERICA” at every chance they get. Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and even took over the American Embassy in Tehran under the Carter Administration. We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the “bomb” right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!) but, as usual, and despite all of the praise and accolades received, this “lightweight” Congressman is against what was so brilliantly achieved last night in Iran.

This is wild and makes me think he’s going to try regime change if he’s bringing up the embassy takeover and bitching about Iran killing Americans in the past.

And his earlier comment about regime change - if you’re the Iranian leadership and think he’s serious, you have nothing to lose by shutting down the Strait and doing some thing on a large scale against us.

So when we hear later this week our bombing hit old, unused military spots, did superficial damage annd and everything had been moved previously - do we get to court Marshall Trump who acted alone? Or do we get to blame Israel and finally tell them to fuck off? Or better yet, both?

You've got a simpleton's understanding of the cultural and archeological history of the Levant.

Tell me how I can explain it to you without using a lot words, a complaint you've frequently used in the past about lengthy posts providing educational content.

In the meantime, I'll eagerly anticipate your response until checking back in after a rewatch of 'Spaceballs.'

The guy cut out of the process?  This isn’t a motivation for our actions. I never knew this was a thing until it was discussed here. It’s not a thing that has ever been discussed at my church or any churches I’ve ever attended.

Yeah, I don’t. Feel free to expand.  Or not. I don’t care.

Real talk, before the "total obliteration" of those nuclear sites had anyone in the general American public actually lost any sleep over brown guys in turbans at any point in the last decade? I just don't think the Islamophobia is at those post-9/11 Toby Keith levels anymore.

And our ambassador to Israel is also a Christian nationalist nutjob. Further, both Rubio and Cruz have argued just this week that we have some sort of ridiculous, biblical need to further israel's agenda. How in the world are you not all righteously pissed off that our nation is completely submitted to Israel?

"Well I've never heard of it" is not a good defense against any argument. There are numerous lawmakers that have, just this week mind you, claimed we have some kind of biblical mandate to do what we're doing.

I’ve heard of it, as I said. It doesn’t drive our actions, never has and never will. Any comments you hear by “lawmakers” are stated for political purposes.

Eh, it's only been a major plank of the religious right for decades. But I am sure they don't have any influence on the Republican party's stance on Israel.

This might not be overly helpful, but I can recommend the Levant Cafe in Cedar Park to get educated on some cuisine.

Christian Zionism. Are you not familiar with the concept ?

I am. Thought you might’ve been speaking of bombing Iran specifically. I think most people in the country favor having a thriving Israel and the US being a staunch supporter of Israel.  I don’t believe actions are taken based on a fringe Christian belief that Israel must be protected for biblical purposes. And it is fringe. Guys like Huckabee are totally marginalized nationally.  This fringe element didn’t factor into decision makers’ thought process with respect to Iran yesterday whatsoever.
