October 6, 20241 yr Elons jumping display is perfect evidence that he doesn’t have a PR rep. Maybe he’s not used to a crowd cheering him, but any decent pr rep would have told him to just wave and shake trumps hand.Hell no he doesnt have a PR rep. He has whole companies without PR departments.

With those few people excluded, I agree with your assessment.

With those few people excluded, I agree with your assessment. The number of people that own Teslas and don’t know the name Leon Musk is pretty damn small. That part of the Venn diagram might also be the section that intersects the circle “people with amnesia and other brain injuries.” The names Jom Farley and Mary Barr don’t roll off the tongue because those two usually are only in the news for something boring/car related. They aren’t putting themselves in the news day in day out meme-ifying themselves or being ultra political or just saying some of the dumbest things possible. We call those people capable CEOs.
October 7, 20241 yr Thing is, even if they’re not capable, they aren’t actively destroying shareholder value in the way mosk is. I can’t figure out how his boards think this is going to turn out.

Boards are incredibly incestuous, and tend to make the company do things that benefit the board over the company's long term health.

The way the ultra rich have effectively decoupled stock price and company performance in the end it doesn't matter. It's insane what we are seeing right now. Companies turn a profit, but miss some silly metric - drop. Companies lose millions because they have no business model, but expand their user base 5% - TO THE MOON. So everything Leon is doing/saying has zero effect on the stock price. It's made an impact in their sales, but he has a legion of useful idiots to pump his stock, so it doesn't matter. How it's going to turn out? As long as the useful idiots are around, good for the rich guys.

It's all just vibes and hype and FOMO. And musk has used that value to buy the "public square of conversation" and cover it with fascist propaganda and pornbots. It really is scary that he privately owns the majority our nations orbital launch tonnage capacity.

October 7, 20241 yr Popular Post That’s the truly pathetic thing about both is them. If you gave me gobs of money, I’d enjoy my life and dedicate my free time to helping people. These guys have a void within them that can never be filled. They need more than approval or people liking them, they need total adoration and worship…from strangers, and actually the kind of pathetic strangers that give their slavish love and devotion to media figures and such. It’s fucking loserdom of the highest order.
October 7, 20241 yr I put some money in Elon's pocket this weekend and ordered Starlink. I don't really have a choice, my startup grew to the point of needing everyone to be VPNed in, the overhead of that has impacted my connectivity given I am in a rural/remote area that doesn't have a lot of good internet options. I wish there was a less odious alternative, but a man's gotta make a living.
October 7, 20241 yr It appears that GEICO no longer wants to insure the Incel Camino: https://www.insurancebusinessmag.com/us/news/auto-motor/is-geico-pulling-the-plug-on-tesla-cybertruck-insurance-508523.aspx?hsmemberId=1024080&tu=55D7E01A-A2EE-4DD3-8B33-867AD97B08C1&utm_campaign=&utm_medium=20241007&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--i_geqQMak7GTkNt9ZozQt9bo6M-pKA9a2I6aBKJvGGA3842p8xUJ8Cxqyhz6wUpG07ni6bObvgOqLffukBYFqxPSzCkg0Z6Txid6MBzis6kD84dY&_hsmi=327939629&utm_content=55D7E01A-A2EE-4DD3-8B33-867AD97B08C1&utm_source= 'Is GEICO pulling the plug on Tesla Cybertruck insurance?' Quote “This type of vehicle doesn’t meet our underwriting guidelines.” Those were GEICO’s words in a letter made public by Tesla Cybertruck owner Robert Stevenson when he was notified of the insurer’s decision not to renew coverage for the electric vehicle. Notably, Stevenson has seven other vehicles on his policy – all with coverage GEICO is able to provide. “After a careful review of your policy records, we have determined that we are unable to continue your insurance coverage for the 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK,” reads part of the letter shared by the disgruntled motorist, who revealed in a post on X that he would be switching insurers for all his cars. “We have taken this action for the following reason(s): We are unable to insure your 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK xxxxxxx because this type of vehicle doesn’t meet our underwriting guidelines.” Stevenson, who described himself as having an “amazing record,” sees the non-renewal move as a decision that “makes no sense,” adding that there are vehicles out there that he believes are riskier than his Tesla Cybertruck. While GEICO did not elaborate on why it chose to no longer cover Stevenson’s Tesla Cybertruck, Torque News cited several issues that could have influenced the decision, including the time and costs required to get repairs done.
