I can’t speak for SS systems but my employer (private) has a customer system that includes birthdate. The field is required but for about 10% of the records, we don’t know their birthdate. The standard for the data entry person is to enter 1/1/1900 in that scenario. It stands out on reports showing someone as 125 years old since no one is that old.

DOGE going at it with firing over a thousand employees from various DOE offices, including the NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

President Donald Trump's administration has laid off between 1,200 and 2,000 employees at the Department of Energy (DOE), including staff from the nuclear security administration and the loans office, two sources familiar with the decision told Reuters.

Democratic lawmakers confirmed to the outlet that the layoffs also impact workers at national laboratories, hydroelectric plants and Cold War-era nuclear sites.

The DOE employs approximately 14,000 federal workers and oversees 95,000 contractors across various energy and security sectors.

According to two sources, the layoffs followed the arrival of three representatives from billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the agency.

One source revealed that approximately 325 employees have been dismissed from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), which oversees the U.S. nuclear weapons fleet and works to secure radiological materials worldwide.

Holy shit, I am a goddam soothsayer.

And the head of WordPress, who also heads a half-billion dollar hosting company through WordPress.com and who claims WordPress.org is his personal website, has been going to war against longtime WordPress developers and supports and major companies became he thinks he should be getting more money from large companies (he wants like 8% of their revenue), and if you support an open-source project being fully transparent and being governed transparently, then you are stabbing him in the back and you are not allowed to speak at WordPress conferences.

It’s fucking insane.  I’m trying to move several WP sites to other platforms because something is off with him and he’s trying to trademark some terms that will allow him to go after pretty much any company hosting WordPress sites and demand a fee from them.  He is mocking companies and developers who helped make WordPress what is is, and is using the official channels to complain about, his words, “masturbatory governance”.

There's some pretty wild stories about Mullenweg, but I think some/most are embellished.  With that said, he owns Tumblr as well as controlling WordPress and a half-a-billion dollar hosting company, and he's been very publicly whining about people stabbing him in the back (they aren't) so him going on an Elon-esque rant and calling people names at 2 in the morning is not out of the question,

Currently he's whining about being lonely and trying to play word games on twitter.  Those of us following the drama are either slightly concerned that he will come after our companies at some point for some bullshit cut of revenue like he demanded of WPEngine, or we are actively looking for alternative platforms.

It's fucking weird how 2025 is seeing all of the tech bros just melting down or taking off the Scooby Doo masks and revealing they are complete assholes.

He's insulted a lot of people who're well-known within the WP community, but not quite calling them that, yet.

I'm gonna say that if 5% of the people you know dislike you, you're some kinda dipshitasshole.  Even on this board, the good people (all 3 of them) aren't hated by 5%.

Between his wealth, his platform, and his complete disregard for truth, I'm not sure there's ever been a more dangerous person in our country.

A lot of times people don’t realize when they are in the middle of tremendous historical change.

At the moment the United States is experimenting with a dual-executive system.  There’s a lot of debate to be had over the balance of powers and whether one is subordinate to the other and how much the functions are truly delegated and/or coordinated.  And we will see how long it lasts and what it evolves into. But a future historian writing with remove in space and time will write that Elon Musk served as a co-executive with Trump.

He is without question the most powerful non-President to ever hold a position in the executive branch and is more powerful than any cabinet official.

What position does Elon officially and/or legally have in the executive branch?

He is officially a Special Government Employee in the White House.  I haven’t seen his title released, usually it’s something like Senior Advisor.

I struggle with a historical analogy.  Grand Vizier to one of the more decadent Sultans? Rasputin?

There has to be more than a Russian monk. Maybe not as famous.

I say we call him the Dick Czar.

Elon fucking Musk is the president of the United States.

And that might actually be worse than having TFG as the POTUS.

What a fucking timeline.

I've said it before, but if we get "President Musk" trending, TFG will send him packing in minutes.

BBC: US government struggles to rehire nuclear safety staff it laid off days ago

The US government is trying to bring back nuclear safety employees it fired on Thursday, but is struggling to let them know they should return to work, NBC News has reported.

The National Nuclear Security Administration workers were among hundreds of employees in the energy department who received termination letters.

An email obtained by NBC said the letters for some NNSA employees "are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel".

The terminations are part of massive effort by President Donald Trump to slash the ranks of the federal workforce, a project he began on his first day in office, less than a month ago.

Last week, nearly 10,000 federal workers were let go, according to multiple US outlets.

That figure was in addition to the estimated 75,000 workers who have accepted an offer from the White House to leave voluntarily in the autumn.

The nuclear security officials who were laid off on Thursday helped oversee the nation's stockpile of nuclear weapons. That included staff who are stationed at facilities where the weapons are built, according to CNN.

Attempting to reach the workers, the email, which was sent to current employees, said: "Please work with your supervisors to send this information (once you get it) to people's personal contact emails."
