So next steps now, there is no way Zelenskyy stays in office, right?  His relationship with Trump and necessity of U.S. support for Ukraine precludes it.  Playing out the chess game, Ukraine's moves are:

  1. He stays as President and capitulates to Trump's demand for subjugation and sells out mineral rights and accepts whatever shit deal Trump cuts with the Russians.  Or,
  2. He stays as President and remains steadfast in a "fair" deal for Ukraine, and sees Trump sell him out vs. Russia and withdraw all U.S. support going forward.  His only play here would be to backstop U.S. support with EU support, I don't think there is enough to go around to make up the gap.  Or,
  3. He resigns under pressure from the Ukranian parliment.  Either through appointment or election he is replaced by a new personality, probably more malleable to Trump and more friendly.  Takes whatever deal he can get, or as Lindsay Graham says "He knows his place."

What we've learned in three years is Russia's military is absolute dogshit.  The EU armed forces would have no problem toting the mail after we leave Ukraine high and dry.

Hell, the EU should cut a deal with Japan and tell them after Russia collapses they can retake Sakhalin.

I'm all for it; I just doubt Europe's resolve once the U.S. drops out.  Easier to just let Russia take Ukraine, Moldova, etc.  They'll grasp their pearls but other than Poland I'd be surprised if they put troops down there to act as peacekeepers. They've already donated their spare gear and are just now spinning up their military industrial base.

I am sure they will make the Saudi leadership step out of their dresses right?  No, of course not.  This wasn't set off by wardrobe selection, this was theater,  entirely planned to be an asshole to him, to make him seem disrespectful in attempt to justify their cozying up to Putin and trying to create peace agreements like an 1800s European colonizer.

If he wore a suit, they would have just latched on to whatever thinly veiled distraction they could manage.  You didn't thank us.  Well you didn't thank us enough.  You campaigned for the guy who beat our guy's ass and helped your country, how fucking dare you!

I was trying to explain this to someone based on a previous example. The Eu and US did not want the Bosniaks at meetings during the war. So an argument used was They did not dress likes statesman enough. meanwhile the two murderous neighbors, Croatia and Serbia, were allowed in. They dressed like "statesmen."

Maybe Srebrenica would not have happened if we did not care so much about the dress. And the SS uniform was designed by Hugo Boss.

If dress determines this shit I am getting a shirt that says Tech Support.

Just came to post that. TASS was in the room. Reuters and the AP were not granted access.

Nobody ever told them that, they made that shit up in their own head to justify their own hatred for "others." Be aware that when you type something like that most of us see nothing more than idiots with their "Diversity = White Genocide" t-shirts and you lose all credibility in anything you say on the topic.

A new leader will make no difference. The current US regime will accept nothing short of Ukraine giving itself up to Russia. Zelenskyy's best move, in my opinion, is to go to Europe, beg them to please find enough support to help him win the war, then admit Ukraine into NATO. The writing is on the wall, there is no reason whatsoever for any decent European nation to expect anything from the U.S. going forward but bullshit. If Europe can provide victory for Ukraine they can surely muster enough collaboration to stop giving a single shit about what happens over here. We are not an ally to them in any way shape or form anymore and it's clear they need to proceed accordingly.

Joining NATO has to be unanimous. Hungary and Turkey won’t vote for it.

Likely if this catches steam IMO, Trump will just peace out and his team of sycophants in the senate will rubber stamp it.

Seriously, at this point, when we invade Canada and attack and kill Canadian troops defending their homeland, who are you rooting for?  If you don't say Canada, you are a sick fuck.

The United States is already out of NATO.  It's all over but the crying.  What remains of NATO can do what it wishes without regard to the US.  And they may also expel Hungary and Turkey.  They're going to need full unity when the hostilities against Russia and the United States begin.  Good chance that will happen by early summer.  Things are happening very fast.

Turkey might vote Ukraine in. The Ottoman Empire and Russia did not really like each other.

Turkey and ukraine could really benefit each other.

no.  if Zelensky resigns that does not mean Trump will support Ukraine, that will only mean that Putin convinced him to get rid of Zelensky.   I firmly believe that Ukraine and the United Europe can stand against Russia since Russia is almost done.

What Trump wants is what Putin wants. So if Trump wants it, you must oppose it. That is always the right move.

The infuriating thing is our coward in chief doesn't realize we hold all the cards against Russia.  He could bow up to Putin and tell him to hand over whateverthefuck we want.  But he won't.

Agreed, but until the US formally exits NATO, we can still veto shit and gum up the works, which I think is still the plan. In the last couple of days, France, UK, Turkey, and Ireland have announced their willingness to send peacekeepers to Ukraine. They can already make those bilateral decisions (even if coordinated) outside of NATO's framework. I'm betting after today, we'll hear from a few more countries stepping up. If Germany is one of them, then we start seeing the birth of some sort of an EU military independent from NATO.

Hell, the UK hooking back up with the EU might actually be in play now. The Tories' "Global Britain" idea to distance themselves from the EU certainly backfires if the US is seen as an adversary. I mean, the combined economic and military might of the EU+the main Commonwealth countries shouldn't be taken lightly by Russia or its new sidekick.

He only wants to be as rich as Putin.  He doesn't give a fuck about America and only wants to steal our wealth.  It's that simple and every decision he makes is only in that effort.  Everything else, including Project 2025, is either theater to distract from the theft or destroy the guardrails in place to make the theft more difficult.

Yeah I think he did the world a favor by agreeing to hold that meeting in front of the cameras. Everyone saw what they'll be dealing with if they get/stay in bed with us. They should accordingly opt out of dealing with us.

The moment the US sheds EU or Canadian blood, there will be absolute chaos on our soil. People will not stand for that. The media is covering this shit up or spinning it because it is a far away land. Once our service men and women are the ones killing. Shit will get real, very very fast.

The other NATO states should drop out and form a new alliance without us. Maybe drop Turkey as well.

The US is a liability to lasting peace at this point. They should also request that all US military bases and presence be removed from their countries.

They probably should also add Mexico and give them nukes to dissuade us from going to war with their cartels that we just declared to be terrorists.
