White House begins demolition of part of East Wing for Trump's ballroom - CBS News

The Treasury Department has told staff not to share photos of the East Wing, a spokesperson confirmed to CNBC on Tuesday. The department is located next to the White House, and has a clear view of the demolition work.

“Carelessly shared photographs of the White House complex during this process could potentially reveal sensitive items, including security features or confidential structural details,” the Treasury spokesperson told CNBC.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have urged our employees to avoid sharing these images.”

To state the obvious, Trump does not own that property. What was needed in order to get this approved?

A government shutdown, so there was no one working to deny the request.

More from the GOP Nazi “Youth.” If Trump doesn’t pull his nomination to head the Office of Legal Counsel, then the Nazi takeover will be complete:

Why would the GQP back off from that?  He said what they believe.

This IS the current GQP motto, no matter how many times @Enchubben tries to say differently (the proof is in the pudding: these are the people the party and admin is actively elevating to positions of power):

“We need competent white men in positions of leadership. … The founding fathers were wrong that all men are created equal … We need to reject that part of our heritage,”

There ya have it.  That is what they believe.  It is what they nominate, it is what they confirm.  Stop letting them gaslight you at all.  If you are not a white man, this country is not for you. Don't listen to me, LISTEN TO THEM.

They meant going for the game.

Now how the fuck would they know that ~50K or so people who didn't go into the Cotton Bowl were there for the game even though they were not going to the game?

I didn't see the survey takers...

(and yes I am fully aware that people sneak into the Cotton Bowl....it ain't 50K of them)

Why even give a reason?  Because giving bullshit transparent reasons is more fun than just saying cease?  Unless they’ve enclosed the entirety of the work site, it will be easily visible and imageable from public areas with easily accessed standard lenses.

Oh, and it might be fun to get all the maga excited about the idea of naming it the Charlie Kirk ballroom so that he can get big mad, and eventually tell them all to fuck off. Then do the same for the arch.

Mr. Trump submitted complaints through an administrative claim process that often is the precursor to lawsuits. The first claim, lodged in late 2023, seeks damages for a number of purported violations of his rights, including the F.B.I. and special counsel investigation into Russian election tampering and possible connections to the 2016 Trump campaign, according to people familiar with the matter. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because the claim has not been made public.

The second complaint, filed in the summer of 2024, accuses the F.B.I. of violating Mr. Trump’s privacy by searching Mar-a-Lago, his club and residence in Florida, in 2022 for classified documents. It also accuses the Justice Department of malicious prosecution in charging him with mishandling sensitive records after he left office.

Twice, educate me here. I'm sure there's plenty of tolling arguments in Trump's situation, but don't you have six months to file suit after the claim is denied? And, isn't a claim deemed denied if it's not formally denied within six months of the notice being received? Of course, I could easily be wrong about the "deemed denied" part. Like most things Trump, there's probably legal hurdles the public would not be able to clear, but Trump will be lifted over the hurdle by a compliant court.

These guys keep re offending:

https://www.thedailybeast.com/jan-6-capitol-rioter-pardoned-by-donald-trump-busted-for-threatening-to-kill-top-dem-hakeem-jeffries/

Donald Trump-pardoned Jan. 6 rioter was arrested after allegedly making threats to kill top Democrat Hakeem Jeffries.

Christopher Moynihan, 34, is accused of texting plans to kill the House Minority Leader, 55, during a New York City speech on Monday.

According to a court filings, he wrote, “Hakeem Jeffries makes a speech in a few days in NYC I cannot allow this terrorist to live.”

Moynihan, of Clinton, New York—who was pardoned by Trump nine months ago as part of a mass clemency for more than 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants—also allegedly stated, “Even if I am hated, he must be eliminated, I will kill him for the future,” the filing said.

He was taken into custody by New York State Police and charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, according to a State Police news release

Moynihan is not the first pardoned Jan. 6 defendant to face new charges since receiving clemency. In May, Zachary Alam, 33, who infamously smashed the Speaker’s Lobby door, was arrested in Virginia on burglary counts weeks after his pardon.

A government that prosecutes political enemies is often described as an
authoritarian state or a dictatorship, where the justice system is weaponized to suppress dissent, rather than uphold the rule of law. In such a system, law enforcement and judicial powers are used for political retaliation and to eliminate political competition. This is in contrast to a democracy, where prosecutions should be based on evidence and non-partisan policies, not political motives.

The White House,Capitol, and Supreme Court are specifically exempt from the National Historic Preservation Act. Presumably to streamline needed repairs, upgrades, security to the three most important federal government buildings.

A non-binding commission reviews major changes.

So essentially you’re correct: he doesn’t need permission because no one imagined a POTUS might want to fuck up the White House.  Our universe has no meaning to MAGA.

True but there are a large number (perhaps as many as 1-5K) that go to the fair and watch on one of the big screens in the park (by the Magnolia Beer Garden, e.g., and the other one on the other side of the lagoon).
