The flats of mid-coast to south Texas are crystal clear water only 1-2 feet deep. If I get bit by a shark in on flats, it's my own damn fault.

I was wading SLP one morning fairly deep and doing pretty good.  Suddenly, the bite turned off, so I began moving around to see if the fish had really left.  About that time a Jaws type fin rolled over about arm's reach.  My life flashed before my eyes; adrenalin was pumping so bad I could have walked on water.  Then I realized it was a porpoise.  OK, really it more like 6 feet away and kinda medium small fin, but it ended my morning.

A fellow from Blessing was fishing at Oyster Lake years back, about chest deep, and a porpoise got mad about him getting too close to her babies.  Broke or bruised a couple of his ribs.  They can fuck you up if they take a mind to.

My grandpa ran the bait camp there for years.

Im sure you can run through waist deep water faster than a shark can swim.

I was out on the second sand bar at south padre when i saw the shadow of a big fucking shark in a wave coming towards me. I dont remember how i got back to shore but it felt like i teleported.

100%.  sharks are actually pretty slow in the water.  most people don’t know that.

I don't know, I've never seen a Ferrari outrun a shark underwater.  Says a lot about the speed of a shark.
