Texas is clearly the stalking horse for players who want a big offer to leverage against their existing P4 school. Harris and Flood have to be replaced if they are unable to pull a rabbit out of a hat here. On the verge of blowing the Arch era due to incompetent OL roster management.

Truly a fireable portal season so far for those two. Harris just got extended though

Odds that arch hits the portal? This is a disgrace. From the outside it looks like amateur hour for idiots

Much higher than the odds you fly in here again in a tizzy to break some news that’s been discussed in the previous 40+ posts

I can’t wait for the sark press conference about all this where he starts cussing the fanbase out for expecting so much and how he can’t control guys not portaling. I man you are in some control of letting guys walk before you have anything set up at all. I’d love to hear what cdc thinks or says. Probably nothing. I hate everything.

Texas went after guys from big programs with very motivated boosters. Did not pay off. Texas needs to focus on those really apathetic fanbases . The question is, did the time spent on those players cost them their PlanB/C/D?

Texas striking out on 2 Florida players, 2 Michigan players, and Louisville RB were miscalculations - BIG GAME HUNTING. .

Gotta drop down to players that programs can't keep -- "The Indiana plan"

Given that all program's fan bases seem to be simultaneously melting down, I wonder if there's a business opportunity in some sort of inpatient mental health treatment aimed at CFB fans during the portal window. Like a retreat with calming music, medication, and no access to CFB news.

Try Surly Ayahuasca. Your portal to the portal.

Maybe Kyle Flood should deign himself enough to offer that "small" Wyoming OG that visited who hasn't allowed a sack in 1,700 snaps

Has anyone ever had this many guys enter the portal clearly intent on signing with them, only to see them go back to where they came? Isaac Brown (it counts), Woods, 2 Michigan OLs. Unbelievable level of fuckery from the staff

Players enter the portal: "These players have no loyalty and just want money - fuck these guys!"

Players stay with their original teams: "These players and their bullshit loyalty that can't be money-whipped - fuck these guys!"

You know, when I was at Texas in the early 80s, I was a slightly above-average offensive and defensive lineman on my intramural team. And I think I have some eligibility left.

Perhaps I should send my VHS tape to Sark and Flood…

That depends - Do you meet Flood's size requirements?

You can all them misses but it looks more like Harris is getting played and he’s too fucking dumb to notice. I have ran sales teams for a long time and there are some sales people that think they are going to close every deal and bring it to management stating that. Then there is always a reason it never pans out. The GM has to have a better pulse of what is actually possible. Being publicly connected to five guys that all returned to the original schools sounds like agents know to fucking jerk off Harris. None of these guys went to another school, this just seems like terrible sourcing by Harris and anyone that reports to him.

Harris is a moron, Flood is just bad.

This is a very understandable process playing out. Go to Texas, get a nice number, come back to current school, say "you don't need to meet that number just get close"...done deal.

Player A doesn't need to mess with moving, transfering, a new coach, probably closer to home anyway, still have the exact same NFL Draft level(or maybe better) and the check is bigger.

I'd say if guys really want to maximize the number and stay home they should stop by Tech also but the threat to transfer has to be perceived as very real if you are at a blueblood or near blueblood already.

I'm not going to be upset if we get Coleman, but at this point I think I'm going to start cheering for Tech. Maybe some of you guys will stroke out and die, or at the least go back to the football board.

On second thought, I think it would be more fun if we all shared our thoughts on Venezuela.

I'll be happy with Raleek and the Vandy receiver, but I still want to kick Flood's ass. I mean I want to kick the son of a bitch in the nuts.

Honestly I'd laugh if he went there.

Coleman isn't my biggest concern anyway. Much rather get good OLs and LBs at this point.

Raleek and the deep threat WR are gonna have a hard time with air blocking for them

Bo Barnes to the portal, per IT

This may be my least favorite portal defection to date. I admittedly half-watched the Citrus Bowl, but one of the plays that gave me promise (other than the TD to Lockett and Clark/Arch's play) was Barnes closing on Underwood for either a sack or very short gain. Can't remember the quarter or situation with any specificity, but the kid closed like 20 yards of distance with a perfect angle in < 2 seconds. Got there and made the tackle efficiently. Made an extraordinary play look mundane. Maybe that play was an anomaly and not what the coaches see from him in practice. Fuck, I don't know fuckall. Whatever, man.

Both provide speed we were desperately missing this year. Gotta block to get them the ball though

Hearing that Sark has most of his savings tied up in Netflix stock and by driving up the price of the UM players Ellison has to pay more out of pocket which will sabotage his bid to buy Warner Brothers.

That was nice, it was also an extraordinarily dumb moment for Underwood though.

It sucks, but for some reason I am not worried about the defensive staff being able to maneuver the portal and fill any gaps.

The offensive staff figuring things out is a completely different discussion.

Bobby thinking we could be done with OL by Friday is quite the shift from his outlook yesterday if Texas didn’t land the 2 Michigan guys. Maybe he just means that Texas won’t have any new OL to worry about by Friday and we’ll just head into the season butt ass naked on the OL?

seems like we are banking on Arch progessing in the offseason we won't need them

We had to ask Barnes to take a pay cut, so we could pay for all the players we aren't signing.

I wouldn't mind Coleman going to Tech either. Use that $2mil+ to get 2-3 other quality players to fill current Texas roster needs (LB, OL, RB)

Wouldn't it be simple game theory for any mid tier OL, LB, RB, WR wanting a raise to enter and await Texas offer, then counter to their original school?

I think we are seeing that in action this year. Unless we are willing to go to Tech levels of overspending, it's just easier for them to ask for a match and to stay. And we have been targeting schools with the means to match our offers. That's the problem.

I need the pumpers to come in and rationalize sweet nothings into my ear, letting me know this is all going to be ok.

The Flood of bad news keeps rolling in

It is a little funny listening to Bobby blame Texas fans for being unhappy with O-line recruiting and totally unwilling to question Flood’s performance. “Yeah, I get it” is about as far as he will go.

sark is running the portal the way he runs his offense. Long slow developing plays that get our qb killed. When that doesn’t work he moves it over to Caldwell in the 4th qtr handing the ball off to a white walk on running back 3 straight dives

As it comes to retaining current players, I wonder if some of this is an overcorrection or trying to reset expectations. Reading between lines it seemed like we spent a ton of money on both retention and HS recruiting the past 2 years to the detriment of portal recruiting. So if we overpaid on retention and recruiting previously, I'm guessing a lot of these guys leaving we didn't necessarily want to leave had expectations based on past performance. Agreed with sentiment that overall it looks like a complete mess right now in desperate need of professional roster management.

My money is on Bama with the connections, but I’d for sure rather him go to sand Aggy than Aggy Aggy

What the actual fuck is going on... we went from looking to fill in spots to now a wave of young players transferring out
