Yes, though seldom have two young TEs been any less similar. Washington lumbers as though Townsend is riding on his back.

At best we will be very thin depth wise at a few positions next year, at worst we have open tryouts for Oline in the spring..

Damn you torched me there

No.

We're the stalking horse for players to extract more money from the schools they're already at.

It's just like that clusterfuck baseball hiring process that brought baseball coach David Pierce to Texas. All the top college baseball coaches got new contracts with huge raises to not go to Texas, and Texas got left holding the bag, eventually going basically hat-in-hand to hire Pierce.

I think an interesting data point on the struggles so far has been that Texas hasn't lost a single recruitment yet to someone other than the incumbent school. I think it truly shows that the fault lies solely with the staff. Level zero, I know that money is NOT the issue. And I get the argument that some folks won't change jobs and move across the country for a small raise. But Sprague turning down 1.6M to go back to a place that was embroiled in scandal for 900k is disconcerting to say the least

I wouldn't say that Michigan is "embroiled in scandal" now - they hired Whittingham and he can coach.

I took a look at some of the top portal classes, and they are full of players who did NOT playin P2 conferences. Tech's class has exactly one player from a P2 team (Washington). The rest are B12/ACC or G5. Texas pulling several from places like Michigan and Florida would be absolutely insane.

That said, if Sark/Flood really don't have any backup plans for the OL then yeah, they're fucking idiots.

We need an actual General Manager and an immediate professional staff around him that has experience in dealing with payroll and high-level negotiations.

This could not be more obvious. We have an unqualified clown in that position, and he is getting run over like a bug on the highway.

Barnes is probably the biggest loss so far and he didn't even play this year. Not really losing much proven difference-making yet

Much more concerned about the OL situation

The good news is there’s about 4600 players in the transfer portal. 50 of those are from us.

The bad news is none of the 4600 wanna come here

What's that number when you factor out all the non power 4 teams?

Go all in, man. Go as deep as her asshole can take.

I don’t know whether it was Jeff Howe or CJ - but one of them mentioned that they thought Texas would end up using fewer scholarships than last season despite the new 105 number. Less focus on long term development and more on portal/FA and getting players with one or two years left. Nothing revolutionary, more of an NFL style roster without the benefit of a waiver wire.

I think the worst would be if Sark took an NFL job and we had to hire our 5th choice in February. Like Jedd Fisch or something.

Well, if this craters, Crystal should get on that tout de suite.

Washington has been recruited over three times and any snaps he might have gotten are going to the Michigan St transfer.

Re: Our GM - part of being a GM is knowing what players are actually available and which are using you as leverage. This isn’t recruiting - this is NFL style free agency. Harris thus far looks clueless.

Washington was passed up by Endries, Townsend, Winston, and Shannon. Black got beat out by Phillips and he's not starting over the Rutgers transfer. There's going to be more transfers. I'm surprised 1-2 of Lockett, Ffrench, Terry haven't hit the portal.

So.... y'all are tell me Jordan Washington is another Gerry Hamilton special? GH hyped him up so much as a high upside TE sleeper take during '24 recruiting cycle. I didn't realize he was surpassed by all these other TEs on the roster.

are you sure that is where Michigan ended up or was that the Michigan number before he returned to Michigan? Disconcerting is an understatement, either way but a 700K gap is a real problem.

NFL style roster to go with our NFL style practices, fantastic!

I guess…it appears they are losing plenty to the incumbent school against the “let’s see what I’m worth?” prospect that maybe offers an upgrade.

We’re getting hollowed out on depth prospects that would certainly contribute in 2026 and aren’t going to be replaced in the portal.

In the era of 105 scholarship it’s pretty clear we need numbers and can afford to roll the dice on some guys instead of simply big game hunting.

NFL free agency is a lot simpler because NFL players aren't turning down higher offers. Maybe a veteran that has already been paid that is ring chasing.

Holy shit. Yes, you are quite alone in your thoughts that Sarkisian screwed up the OL this year. Very insightful, a true thought leader around here.

You guys are just lashing out at the people you care about and who care about you because you're feeling sad. I'm feeling sad, too. Don't say something you might regret. Let's get through it together, shall we?

Any chance Sark hits the portal to one of the following: Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, or Atlanta Falcons?

Nah we don't need another 100 dipshits from the football forum coming to say GUYS I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE O LINE

Question, do the donors get any return on these deals? Or are they actually just lighting millions of dollars on fire for the satisfaction of having a better team and getting some influence over the athletic department? Maybe our donors dont like the proposition of a 0% return on investment while the Tech dude has fuck you money compared to us.

He will probably get them to visit before they go back to the head coach they fired

Or, maybe, and I'm talking to Chuckie here, the "souring" came during the season in the Locker Room with some of Sark's bullshit.

Read the fucking thread, asshole. The guy's name has been mentioned about 20x per page for the last 60 or so fucking pages. If you want someone to do all the legwork for you and then jerk you off, PM Helobious. But be warned, his handjobs don't see to be what they once were. Must be tennis elbow.

I seem to recall Washington’s best highlight in his time at Texas was a catch in the spring game.

And at a game this season, a scrawny kid in a cowboy hat sat next to me, spitting every so often on the concrete steps, enough to piss me off. I got over that annoyance and noticed he was cheering extra hard for Washington. Turns out he was his roommate. I seem to recall Trey Owens was a roomie as well and Livingstone was apparently supposed to also room with them, but he got the sweet setup with Manning. It seems Arch is losing quite a few of his buddies.

At least in Atlanta he'd have a bad ass running back and a left-handed quarterback who torched him 2 bowl games in a row.

This portal season so far is the Eberflus version of portal seasons

Not just that he screwed up the OL. That the reasons for it happening have put his future here in question. Many on here argued that isn’t a thing and his previous body of work has him more than safe. I’m sure some will chime in to this effect now.

I have been saying he’s under much closer watch after missing the playoff, and failing to land satisfactory talent in the OL to help fix it, and refusing to move on from his inadequate OL coach, will certainly do him no favors with the decision makers and will be pointed to specifically should the Arch era end with a whimper.

I think it’s worth noting considering it is all but confirmed his initial plan for the OL in the portal has gone up in flames.

I'm guessing this has more to do with potentially the Wisconsin LB or Cal LB and Atkinson coming in. I imagine he's leaving due to playing time/role.

Atkinson and Barnes play different LB roles Barnes (ILB - think Ant Hill) and Atkinson (OLB - think Lefau). As for the honky from Wisconsin who breaks his arm and still kills people? Christian Alliegro, He's also an ILB. Same with Cade Uluvae (Cal). Not sure why two ILB and zero OLB.

Yiu gotta think our offers will leak to the lineman still in the playoffs

I can easily gain 40-50 pounds before the season without even working out.
