$224.48 is an oddly specific donation number.  Is there some meaning to the number?  I've done a quick google search without any findings.

This describes 80%+ of the population. How does the pundit class still not understand that political and even ideological identity is tribal, and is only incidentally connected to the politics of issues?

It's what drives me batshit about the Democratic party and their consultants: They are STILL trying to reconcile some vision of Choamsky Leftist and Clintonian New Democrats into a coherent party platform.  THOSE PEOPLE DON'T EXIST YOU IDIOTS.

Can someone recommend a non shitty source of news? I canceled NYT a while back and ended up going back a couple months ago when I couldn't find a good alternative. I'm done forever after the way they've talked about Kirk and his murder. Tired of being gaslit daily by the sanewashing of all this bullshit.

Broadly agree but sternly disagree where it comes to Biden. He had a chance to take this on directly and instead put Merrick fucking Garland in charge and avoided going after those responsible for Jan 6.

Just completely feckless to go after the crowd instead of the organizers. Pure political cowardice born of a different age and failing to meet the needs of the moment.

Biden, wrongfully it turns out, thought the Trump scourge was over the minute he was sworn in as POTUS in 2021. Hell, I thought so too. And his four years -- once we got past COVID -- were pretty even keel, a much-needed respite after the rough sledding from 2017-2020. He -- and the Democrats mis-calculated as they have every step of Donald Trump's political career. He's a fucking cockroach. He'd survive a nuclear holocaust. Mitch McConnell could've done this country a huge favor by convicting him for J6 but he pussed out too, or a desire for his team to hang on to power won over doing the right thing for once in his pathetic life. And then Merrick Merrick'ed and, oops, Trump is re-elected and we are in the hell that we're in.

If that was even him, 4+ years ago is a lifetime. Maybe Jan 6 changed him. We don't know so again, spiking the football right now is more like dropping the ball at the 1 before crossing the endzone.

I'm just glad it wasn't either of these two:

I don't think the confession mattered, he was fucked the moment the cameras got a clear shot of him IMO. If he had covered his face, I think there's a decent chance he never gets caught, but he'd probably fuck up and talk about it at some point.

I'm curious if he ever thought he would make it off campus.  He may just have assumed there would immediately be swarms of cops and black helicopters closing in.  I'm also curious if the gun was registered.

The nice thing about this guy being alive is he may actually explain some shit at some point.  Not that any of it is very relevant.

I keep reading that they interviewed Tyler's roommate who showed the FBI discord messages about retrieving the black rifle, and the drop point etc., so it appears at least the roommate had more information that would have led to him. What I'm not seeing, is whether the roommate had contacted authorities prior to Tyler being arrested. It doesn't sound like that was a lead yet, only discovered after Tyler was turned in. Which makes you wonder what that roommate was thinking.

https://www.wired.com/story/charlie-kirk-shooting-suspect-identified-as-22-year-old-utah-man-tyler-robinson/

Cox said Robinson’s roommate also cooperated, showing investigators Discord messages in which Robinson discussed retrieving and hiding a rifle, leaving it wrapped in a towel, monitoring the drop site, and engraving bullets.

Yep. It's ruined the last bastion of free press in this country. When the NYT and WaPo no longer serves as the ultimate government watchdogs, and instead chase online traffic by posting rage-bait articles/opinion pieces, the country is vulnerable to a autocratic takeover like we're seeing right now.

I'm telling you, our kids are being tremendously fucked over by Silicon Valley tech bros who don't give two shits about the utter wreck they are leaving in their wake. This kids viewing history is going to be pretty fascinating. Or he dropped out of college, sat on Discord and other chat boards, and just continuously fed at the trough of ragebait.

I don’t think this is true. It gives us insights into the potential political slant his parents may have pushed on him.

the wife of a dixie (southern utah, st. george, cedar city, washington & iron counties) sheriff should have had full maga social; the facebook is already down; per troph it was clean

wildly speculating, the eating with chopsticks pic is a tell that this family is what is referred to as "jack", i.e. heritage brethren, non-practicing, but non-threatening to the majority of the populace and 27 years in the washington county sheriff's department indicates roots, ties to the community, and staying power - this family did zero to push the shooter on any ideology

he found his calling on his own

i will also say this - there is no "left" in utah's dixie like there is in the greater salt lake valley; the utah government remains controlled by brethren but the salt lake valley is now 60% secular and growing more so every day; the avenues, the neighborhoods to the east of the capitol, used to be a 1000% brethren stronghold and have rapidly gentrified

utah valley (provo, byu, etc.. where the murder occurred...) is 90% brethren and 80% of that ultra i.e. practicing, full testimony, etc.....

dixie is 70% brethren, but 50% of that is jack

pending some social evidence that the dad was breathing maga hellfire, the parents did not push any agenda on the guy

There's a million inflection points, but for me, it was in 2016, when people decided they'd rather elect Donald Trump, who was manifestly wrong to be president by any objective measure, over the clearly competent and capable Hilary Clinton, because she was annoying. Including a lot of people on this board who later regretted that decision.

Everything after that is spin, reaction, and rationalization.

The 2016 election was the end result of all of those events and factors I mentioned, and more.  That was the slap-in-the-face moment that we could no longer deny - all of the bad shit about America has now come home to roost.

I agree with the second part of your post. Strongly disagree with the first part. Continuously refer to this kid as a conservative. "New Age Digital Conservative."

"Extremely Online Republican, Tyler Robinson, the conservative assassin of Charlie Kirk ..."

2 x 24 =48. Or 2+2 =4, 4+4 = 8.  Math geek, bordering on obsessive-compulsive.  Or, more likely, just more random shit to squint at while trying to find meaning.

No one is spiking the football yet. We've had 2 days of right wingers (including national politicians!) implying the shooter was a tranny leftist. What we actually know so far counters their dangerous rhetoric towards marginalized people. It's ok to shove this shit back in their face.

No one is as marginalized as white males. This is all the liberal leftists' fault that he knew how to go online and educate himself on how to solve problems.

How long would it have taken the FBI to find him if the kid didn’t confess to his dad?

they wouldn't have

they said they had the shooter's comms and movements but it's clear they didn't

if they did they would have had him within 24 hours, or a hunt would have been under way like in minnesota

in utah, the chance to cuff a democratic martyr assassin would have looked like the chicago police in the blues brothers

speculating, but likely he drove the 250 miles roundtrip w/o a cell, or was up north for the weekend 'visiting friends' & 'forgot his cell' and left it at home

Two possibilities, both bad:

  1. Not competent enough to find the guy instantly, were lucky enough that he turned himself in
  2. Found the guy instantly, but needed time to figure out how to spin it because he was a white, cisgender, conservative.
