Dunk and Egg are great novellas. About the right length to read or listen to in a day. I would put them in the same category as A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.

Young adult book with a lot of humor, and lessons taught through parables. No sex. No cursing. I believe the only deaths are in just battles or knight melees.

Fuck is used in the trailer, so HBO predictably made it more mature. I could see 3 seasons as there are 3 novellas. 18-24 episodes would stretching the original material pretty thin, but hey it’s GOT we’re talking about here.

HBO seems content to drown us in Targaryen lore, but the good news is there’s no dragons in Dunk and Egg so they might actually focus on story rather than CGI effects. Also much cheaper/faster to produce so we could get a season every year.

There are more Targaryen stories to tell, some significantly more interesting than Dunk and Egg, so HBO might keep going.

I’m praying the next series will be based in The North and focus on House Stark or The Wall.

That looks pretty terrible. Based on what billfromlaketravis said above, looks like they took a story meant for young adults and tried to repurpose it for a broader audience. Kinda like how they fucked up the Hobbit movies. If those are the "jokes" they're putting in the trailer, how bad are the ones they not promoting?

I got a very King Arthur vibe from Dunk and Egg. It’s all about what it truly means to be a knight. Do you have to born a knight or can you become one? Dunk and Eggs travel around the kingdom, have adventures, and compete in tournaments. Spoiler: That’s the entire story.

HBO is running pretty low on fat man original material. House of the Dragon is based on a history textbook.

After Dunk and Egg, all that’s left is The World of Ice & Fire. Another GOT history textbook. The Blackfyre Rebellions would be an awesome show with no dragons, but more of the same. Targs fighting Targs. It would take a skilled adaption, but there’s also enough Dorne and The North base material for two series.

I can't wait till the Encyclopedia Brown movie drops.

As long as they're using source material from the Fat Man.  I hope HBO learned their lesson.

Well they didn't since there is very little source material in "Fire and Blood" that translated to HOTD.  Most of what has been in the show is interpolation and dramatization by the show runners.

There was a dragon in the trailer.  Sounds like they are straying from the source material.

That was a fake dragon in what looked to be a carnival tent. This should be the time where dragons no longer exist.

Not a real dragon. The dragons are long dead 100 years before the start of GOT.

What md said.

Looks interesting and much lighter than the other shows.

I'm still baffled they have both Aegon's conquest (only 3 dragons, but still a big CGI budget probably limiting them) and Roberts Rebellion (no dragons) that would be insanely interesting but won't' do them.

I mean I guess Roberts Rebellion would be a bit hard because there are several characters that would have bled over to GOT, and we'd know what happened to them, but still.

I was surprised the humor seemed to land in the trailer at least.  Not a lot of humor in the setting outside of guys like Bronn and Tyrion.
