…the day still gotta end. 😭

Lol nah but for real it is what it is. ID be pissed though if I was Miami, cause how TF is ND ahead of me and we beat them?? That should be the ultimate defector

but anyway

Us going up in arms isn’t gonna change anything.

We underachieved, and that’s that.

All we can do now is make sure this shit doesn’t happen again.

Put that chip back on our shoulder like we had the last couple years, attack the offseason, and stop leaving anything up to chance.

100%.

We were just shy of a 6-6 season when you consider we were the beneficiary of a 3 4th quarter miracles in our favor. 2 collapses by inferior opponents on the road and 1 epic collapse by us that only fizzled out because we fumbled the onside kick out of bounds.

I disagree with the idea of you are what your record says you are. We are lucky to be be 9-3. Let’s use this as a building block, play a meaningless practice game in warm weather, and get some reps for the young guys we want to keep them hit the portal like there’s no tomorrow.

For Fucks sake I have no idea how that last abortion happened on my iPhone with the same post 6 times.  Sorry.

The main issue is scheduling.  There is just no way to evaluate  these teams, even for computer polls.

The teams with the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 12th, 17th, and 18th least reliable data according to my model are:

Ohio State, Tech, Indiana, Oregon, Miami, and Notre Dame.

It's not a coincidence that these are basically all playoff teams not in the SEC.  Dodging tough games is the entire system.

Go ahead and keep the Ohio State and Michigan games for 2026 and 2027 respectively because they will both be in Austin

Bryce Underwood will be starting his third year and we’ll be breaking in a brand new QB in 2027. Also, we go to Bama and Georgia comes to Austin. Cancel that game.

Worst take I have seen on the board today. Vandy was no where close to beating us. That took an all time ref fucking to get them to cover. That game was closer to a 30 point blowout than a Vandy win. And if we are gonna be retarded and operate in the land of hypotheticals like you are doing, let's also talk about how close we were in our losses. OSU was the beneficiary of a goal line stand. Let's say we score there and we stop them on their goal line stand. Boom Texas beats them. We can also say that maybe we score against Florida on the final drive and it also took two 4th down conversions and an onside kick against UGA for them to get separation from us.

Your record is what it is. Stop being a little pussy and saying this is a 6-6 team. Fuck outta here with that.

Talking heads cherry pick against Texas but but but… 3-2 against playoff worthy teams, most games played by a margin of two and one of 6-7 teams with a winning record. In the end that’s all you really need to know.

good news is there’s a real possibility a shitty BYU team and two G5 teams make the field. I won’t want this shit show and hope that once again in year two of the playoffs it’s a ratings flop early on.

got to 16 and require that if you’re getting an auto bid you are at least ranked in the top 20-25.

based on the silly inclusion rules they have in this format, if you want the top 12 teams you need to go to 16.

None of those teams have a chance to win a title.

There's no way we beat 4 top 15 teams in a row with this secondary and this OL and RB room. Vandy and Miami aren't doing it either.

It would be interesting just because it would give us at least one more meaningful game to watch.

Dumb take. We are a top 4 team in the country right now. We would make the semis if we got in. And if the team got hot enough they COULD win. I would put our odds at 10%, but that is much higher than I would give to anyone else in the field not named UGA or OSU.

and what other team has shown any evidence it can with the schedule they have played ? georgia maybe , no one else has shown they could hang with multiple top 15 teams

Every team in the country is a few plays or quarters from being 6-6 except for maybe a few teams. Not just Texas. Hell Alabama should have a losing record if they lost all their close games.

It's even worse than that.  It's W/L record, and sometimes head-to-head, unless it's Notre Dame.  Then that doesn't matter either.   They blew out a bunch of shitty teams after going 1-2 against the only 3 teams with a pulse.  Imagine only having to play up for 3 games per year, lose 2 of them and it's fine.

I already hated Notre Dame, but this year is icing on that cake.   Fuck ND, why are we playing them in out years?  If we lose, we are fucked from the CFP.  If they lose to us, it's a "good loss to a quality team" and the committee justifies it by them beating Navy and Stanford by 40.

Exactly.  We had the following games that were 1 score games:  Vandy, Ohio State, Florida, MSST, Kentucky.  We went 3-2 in these games.  We had another game against Georgia that we were had two oppurtinities for a 4th down stop in the 4th quarter that had we done them we were on the precipice of taking the lead with all the game momentum.  We didn't and the game snowballed, but that wasn't an epic beat down. You could put aggy and GA both in the "close-ish games that might not have looked that way on the scoreboard but were in the 2nd half for sure. We split those. So, 4-3 in games that could have plausibly gone either way Texas record could be 11-1 or it could be 6-6 but 9-3 is absolutley representative of a reasonable replay of the season if played 1000 times.

THIS 100%.

I'm not really mad that we got left out.  Young team and it took a while for us to really get going.  5th in the SEC, rough road games.

But look at how little other teams have accomplished that are going to be in.  And not just one team.   Half the field.

We are not a top 4 team in the country currently. All four teams ahead of us deserve it as of today. We are absolutely a top 5 team in the country. I would put Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Indiana ahead of us, and tech is behind us without question. Bodying aggy is fucking awesome, as well as watching the paramedics take ou and Arky away, but aggy is a paper tiger; we are peaking at the right time and that's all the matters. But you cannot look at those four teams and tell yourself that they don't deserve the be top 4. We are, right now, #5 behind those four.

I guess the SEC and UT brass aren’t giving up even though it’s pretty much over

Nor should they. Ohio State, Georgia and Tech all win by 50 and it becomes exceedingly obvious that Texas lost a close game at #1, a game where they were within a score in the 4th quarter at #2, and a third loss that is no worse than Miami or Bama's loss. In some ways better than Bama's loss.  Domers have 0 quality wins. There are strong arguments if the season finishes that way and UT should make them all the way through the end and if the season goes down that way and htey are still left off they should immediately cancel OSU and Michingan.  Domers should be cancelled today.

The committee has shown to be susceptible to pressure before to change its mind. I still think they are trying to justify getting Miami in based on certain pressure and are setting it up so that ND and Miami are next to each other in the final rankings once BYU drops. They'll then flip them based upon the head to head.

Worse than Miami at #12, I think them moving Bama up to #9 ahead of ND is going to fuck us in the end. It's them sending a message that Bama won't drop out if they lose UGa - worst case, they'll swap with ND.

I don't think there is anyway they drop ND out. So much love for that garbage resume. I don't get it.

I think if Simpson breaks his leg we are in. That's it. That's our only path. And then they would switch ND and MIami.

I always find it hard to see ppl flat lie when they don’t have to. The committee should just say it’s about losses period. It would shut everyone up and move on. Trying to bring a Florida loss into it opens up all kinds of criticism when you start to look at all schedules. Like a kid when he lies one time now he has to cover it up with a bunch of lies.  That’s what is happening.

Hell, I’d have more respect for this committee if they came out and said Texas should get in but we don’t like them as a committee so boo hoo. At least they would be being more truthful.

Why are you like this? Of course we are not in you are completely ignoring the automatic bids. Texas needed #12 with Bama and BYU ahead and even then it was unlikely. We are 13 this is the committee telling UT it is out for good.
