Yeah, mostly to, you know, get to the top of the page. Now when imma hopefully kills the nav bar at bottom, we will need notifications & the others back up top.

Lots of reasons. Probably the most common thing is, I'm in the middle of a thread and want to reply to it without quoting someone, it's the easiest way to get to the "Reply" button. This happens more often than you'd think. There's also nav controls at the top of the page...

Copy that. I honestly have never seen the reply to this topic button at the too. I've just always scrolled to the bottom. We so have our ways we use this silly site. Pos rep.

Same. Top and bottom are missing for me.

Also, appears most vids uploaded through Surly are dead now.

Wait . . . what kind of videos?

Has the background always been light gray? I feel like there is a lot of blank space now.

I can't get into NSAA. Halp.

On the Ukraine thread, some of the tweets only had the top half loaded. On the previous site, when it did this, it would allow you to scroll through the tweet to read/see it. Just now it wouldn't let me do that. Not sure if it is related to the upgreyd or not. Otherwise everything looks good.

I just now started the previous reply on dark mode, had to stop mid reply, and when I unlocked my phone I am in light mode. Did I die and go to heaven? This place won't be the same without the debauchery.

I posted about the same issue. I didn’t read the previous 3 pages so it may have been addressed, but if you scroll to the very bottom of a thread, there is a button that says theme. Mine was set too surly Main and when I switched it to default, it looks like the old system cleaner and faster.

Looking good so far @immamac

This is something I was never able to figure out on mobile previously, and now I don't see a way to do it on desktop either. I was hoping to figure out how to do it on desktop and try and recreate that on the new mobile.

On desktop, I have 2 bookmarks set for surly - threads I follow, and threads I don't. That way I can easily see the threads I give a shit about, and then click over to see if y'all have posted anything new and interesting after. Have never been able to do that on the phone. On mobile, how would I create a stream for "Content I Don't Follow"?

Should be here in the menu

OK - I never would have thought to look there, but I do see it. Now, is there a way to make that easily accessible like the default stream, or do I need to go to the menu to see that each time? I see options to make it my default stream, but there doesn't seem to be a secondary stream option. Is there a way to do that or no?

Agreed w/ some other posters about all the blank space being annoying. Any way to remove the "Past Hour" or "Today" headers? idgaf when it was posted.

Am I missing something on not being able to log in to my normal account? I can't find what burner email address I used and when I click the settings it demands to be logged in first to view. Being out on holiday before the cutover did I miss my chance and have to create a new handle?

That would be a great name for a blues band.

Adds pressure to make a good post, which I'm incapable of. All this special space dedicated to yet another piece of shit post by me.

This worked, thanks

@immamac is there a way to make the font more legible? I don’t think it’s purely a size issue, but I’m having more difficulty reading on a mobile than the old version.

Am I missing a setting so when I click on surly, I go to the home page and not the last forum I was in?

Need the “forums” option back on the bottom nav bar for mobile.

image.png

On iOS and the insta embeds stop halfway and no scroll down is available. FYI.

Still haven’t been able to find settings to replicate my previous viewing experience, which was most recent posts (latest news maybe?). Currently using unread content but once I read a thread it disappears until someone else posts, so if I want to reread I have to navigate to the subforum.

When copy and pasting articles does it show up normal or do we need to clear formatting still?

I think the new editor magics it.

Lazy loads are being rebuilt. I suspect this will fix that.

On light or dark? Screenshots help.

That is still the behavior at top I need to add a button to the bottom.

Yeah let me play with that.

Thanks. It’s just so much easier on mobile having that option.

Light--I'm not sure a screenshot helps because it's such a subjective thing.

it helps me circle what's wrong. I edited the fonts and increased them a quarter point I think they look way better.

I will say the new site is wayyyyy fucking faster.

What is the difference between the left setting (light bulb) and the right one (dawn/dusk)?

Middle one (dark) is obviously different.

Screenshot_20251227_114204_Chrome.jpg

I would prefer a setting where clickable things are a little more well-defined in terms of visible borders for where the "button" is, and an option to change the default font to something a little less tight and narrow might also be helpful, but as someone who is almost genetically predisposed to dislike format/interface changes, this seems far more seamless and nonintrusive than most such things, so thumbs up from this avowed change-hater.

Nitpick: the red notification alert in the red menu bar is hard to see and looks pretty not great.

It’s also running slow but you just rebooted so maybe indexing.

Fluid setting fixes a lot of the wasted space, thankfully.

What would you suggest I can fix things.

Maybe make the icon white? Or the red menu any other color (a white might look nice actually)

Did the theme selector go away? Was going to toggle back to another theme but the button isn’t there for me.

There's no other themes. Just this one.

I may get another one from the same guy that did the last one to have a different option.

Now we can see who’s a light supremacist and who’s a darkie.

is slow here as well. a page will load about half way and then pause for 2 or 3 seconds then haul ass again.

I’m guessing feeds will eventually sort out?

Asking as I have a dozen or so that are read but not going away.

whatever you just did worked! flying now

This is probably a quick settings thing, but on the "notifications" and messages icon...when I click...nada
