2018 Cotton Bowl - Clemson vs. Notre Dame

Does Clemson use the same recruiting strategy as Bama?  IOW, do they cut 5 and 6 figure checks to get recruits?

I ask b/c, if so, that's the only way we're getting back to elite status.  Clemson is far superior to us in talent....like, light years, when you take depth into account.

JFC, their lines and line depth are scary good.

I think Clemson does it through evaluations and development. Get guys that have potential and get them to buy in....

Enough of this shit. Notre Dame played 12 P5 teams.....no G5, no division 2 patsies, that's a tough schedule...

So Ball State and Navy are P5 teams?  Or is it just easier to lie about these things and hope people don't check it?

Notre Dame's best wins were against Michigan, Northwestern and Stanford, otherwise they beat no team with more than 7 wins. Is that really a playoff worthy schedule without a championship game?  This ND/Clemson game should have been the ACC Championship Game, and it should have filtered out a team that didn't belong.

Why does it matter that there are 5 major conferences? Winning your conference should be a prerequisite for national title contention but it shouldn't be a guarantee of it. A 7-5 Pittsburgh team should not be one game away from national title contention.

Apparently a 12-0 Notre Dame team shouldn't either.

True.

Who the fuck did Clemson play though?

Unlike ND, Clemson is in a conference, and actually advanced to that conference championship game and won, while not losing any of their games.

Admittedly, the ACC is weak, for the most part.  But Clemson did their part.  Had they dropped one to Wake Forest or something like that during the regular season (ala tOSU) then we can have that debate.

And Clemson has to play home-and-home against 8 teams every year.  Yes, not 9.  Like the sec only 8.  But that is still a parsec greater degree of difficulty than playing usc, stanford and navy every year as your P5 "every year" opponents.
