  7. Trump makes a 30 second statement on the redskins and he isnt focusing on problems at hand, but its cool for Obama to do a sit down with the media on ncaa brackets for half an hour. I guess there were no issues in 2012, so I understand now. What disingenuous crap. If Obama did a bracket every year he was president, he'd likely had spent less time in eight years on brackets than Trump spends tweeting in an average week. Trump spends his day watching Fox News, tweeting about it, and using the platform to fan the flames of division in this nation to the best of his abilities. It's all he knows how to do. Look around the country at everything that's happening. Trump has absolutely no desire or capability to lead. He just wants to do rallies and bully people online.

  8. Would be a smart idea of college football to have a bunch of smaller 8-10 team conferences all within the same geographic footprint. You could have one consisting of schools in Texas plus maybe Arkansas, for example. You could call it something like the "Southwest Conference" or some such.

Most are cool with presidents who actually do their job taking personal time for recreation. Most aren't cool with a president who spends all day every day - during a dumpster clown fire show that he enabled, no less - watching cable news and tweeting vapid bullshit.

  11. Saw the following on secrant. This is unusual for me that conservative bunch of yokels, but nice, nonetheless: ”He’s throwing a tantrum in withdrawing from WHO and blaming China and WHO for not raising more flags. That’s the worst kind of leader there is, one who can’t accept responsibility and has to find a scapegoat for criticism. That fact is , China and the world health organization are not in charge of the United States response to a pandemic. Trump administration had the intel on the virus before any of us. You can’t honestly tell me a country with the intelligence and extensive resources as the United States should have the highest virus rates in the world. It’s absolutely a lapse in proactive measureA from this administration. Trump didn’t read the memos on the outbreak and he didn’t address early warnings from the world health organization which Is ridiculous If you wouldn’t follow the advice of a organization that we are funding. I have never known of such a small person that can’t take any responsibility for the amount of power that he has, let alone the highest office in the country. Now we all have to wear masks and economy is in danger because of his serious lapses in action. FURTHER he dismantle the pandemic response team that Obama had in place. Trump is so incompetent as a leader, I would be embarrassed to say I voted for him.”

  14. Man I taught school for 2 years and coached, so I can actually you know, speak to this from first hand experience unlike most of you. Teachers have a job that is fair To generous in what they are paid compared to whats expected of them. I worked 40 hours, on the dot, as a history teacher. Never brought a thing home with me. I worked 50 hours as an English teacher- had typically 10 hours of grading a week to do over the weekend. It was shit I did while watching college hoops or baseball. Once the taks test or whatever the fuck it’s called for English ended that went down to less writing assignments to the workload went down. I only worked 187 days. I only needed a bullshit 4 year degree (let’s not pretend education is a hard degree plan). I had no measurables I was held to for production. In had little day to say oversight over me. It was by far the least stressful or pressure packed job I ever had, nothing set high stakes or hard. I was an above average teacher compared to my peers. My admin loved me because I followed the simple shit that they asked for and parents didn’t call up and complain. My kids liked me ok bc I had a sense of humor and brought passion and excitement to what I was teaching (Love history and literature) and I tried to think out stuff to say, do it what have you for lessons. That said, many times I also phoned it in and that was ok too, which is what I was saying about the job not being hard. Now, if you could adequately measure somehow the job a great teacher (and I mean top 2-7 or 8 percent) that really gets hard to reach kids to learn does and want to comp them at 100k or 150k a year or something like that I’d be fine with it, but I can’t imagine a scenario where the appropriate people get paid for outstanding work in education so I’m just going to pass on that. Note- this is a high school setting with measurable work product expected of students. If you are bringing work home I’m elementary Ed you are definitely doing it wrong. I’m sure the teachers in here will bitch at this and say I’m undervaluing them and what they do. All I can say is I love teachers, my mom was a teacher, my brother taught and coached for 10 years, when I wanted a break mid career and decided I was in a spot where I could do anything I decided to teach because of my respect for the position. And I loved it. But damn, the entitled notching done by those that don’t know how the real world works was just a real beat down. The fact that they’ve convinced so many people in their communities that it’s a tough and thankless job that’s criminally underpaid is a shame, because none of that was true at all in my experience from actually doing it, and comparing it to private sector work.

  15. Natural herd immunity is worst case scenario anyway. We want to contain the virus until a vaccine is available then use the vaccine to get to herd immunity.

  16. aggy generated some fireworks did they? Checks notes from the weekend... Texas landed a much higher rated CB, OU landed a 5* QB and a much higher rated 4* CB, and LSU landed 3 4* guys over that same weekend. poor aggy. Blades is fucking terrible. George hasn't played a snap yet but I wouldn't hold my breath on a 6'2" JUCO CB being "outstanding" So the FS you signed as a CB in Young has already moved to S (just as EVERYONE predicted) and now the other FS you signed at CB (Jones) is the only CB you signed over TWO classes. So even including him aggy has signed THREE CBs over 3 classes and are "probably" a man short? In a division with LSU, Leach at MSU, Briles at Arky, Kiffin at Ole Miss, and Bama and their WR room?! "As long as we remain injury free we can actually put CBs in the dime package." - Elko, probably

  19. Natural herd immunity is not a solution. As sawbonz says above, it is the worst case scenario. It means that 3 out of 4 Americans got infected. It means that around 75% of Americans who would die if they became infected with COVID did, in fact, become infected with COVID and die. It means we let the plague run its course and burn through the population until it ran out of uninfected human fuel. If we get to natural herd immunity, we’ve catastrophically failed.

  21. Had a great time. We were all over Mexico for 31 days. The "non-essential travel ban" with Mexico is a joke. You can drive across the border or fly into Mexico with zero issues, and thousands of Americans have been doing it since the initial travel ban in March. Mexicans are very happy to issue you a tourist FMM and take your money. I discussed it in the Isla Mujeres thread, but Mexicans are taking this shit way more seriously than we are. Mandatory masks everywhere, curfews, temperature checks, enforced social distancing etc. We went through 10 different states. A lot of crazy shit. Took some surfing lessons in Puerto Escondido, did a lot of diving. And drinking. This was our route.

  22. What a bizarre situation we're in where Biden clearly has Trump and his team shook and on the ropes and he needs to just go ahead and finish them off. And finishing them off looks like him continuing to do absolutely nothing. It's got to be maddening for Team Trump to not have any easy low hanging fruit to attack Biden with and give him a cutesy label ala "Crooked Hillary", and watching Joe just sit back and do nothing and give them nothing to work with. I don't know if this was his master plan or if it's just that as an old white man that's "likeable" he's just as teflon as Trump, but he's got Trump in quicksand. It's awesome to watch them flail. Fuck them.

  33. Disgraceful that we prioritize ensuring businesses can open and stay viable over schools. Next to hospitals, safely opening schools should be the country’s top priority. We inject $6T to keep businesses going, but we can’t find the money to quickly make the sweeping changes needed to safely open schools? Dramatic reduction in student/adult ratio. A deep roster of teacher assistants, substitutes, and tutors. A consensus curriculum for online learning. Reasonable measures to ensure sick kids/staff don’t spread (small groups, temp checks, staying in one room except for outdoor recess, etc.). It’s doable, we just don’t have the political/financial will, and it’s a fucking disgrace.

  34. What use is looking at spread outside of the US in predicting how things might play out here? Nearly every country in the world has carried out an exponentially better response than we have. We've done worse than every country except Brazil. We're not remotely comparable to most other countries. We don't even have any serious contact tracing. Looking at, say, South Korea and seeing that school hasn't been a problem for them isn't remotely useful to us.

  35. So to clarify after reading four pages of this shit, even though I am very politically active in my personal/private life (in at least half a dozen ways), I am not allowed to come to this board for a refuge or an escape. So unless I acknowledge and agree with Cheeto man bad and sucks and is destroying America/lives in every thread I am somehow an enabler of Trump? Even though everything I do outside of this board absolutely says otherwise. I can’t come to this board and enjoy an escape because some have TDS so bad they probably bring it up at home 24/7 they have to take every topic and mention their hatred of Trump? A lot of people sat on their damn hands last election. Go take it up with them. According to Oprah and Michelle Obama and a few other prominent black politicians and leaders: many blacks CHOSE not to vote for Hillary. Take it up with the people who sat on their hands and did not vote. When you are down there protesting (assuming you do) ask how many of these people voted in 2016 if they were eligible. If they say no, follow them home and sit on their front law with a megaphone and bug the shit out of them until they vote the way you want them to. I hate going on rants but I’ve about fucking had it. I come here for sports and to laugh. Occasionally to get better weather forecasts than I would on the news. Fuck!!!!!!
