  1. If everyone could just please stop @ing Ana and Johnny Sack in any thread for the entirety of existence, it would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

  2. 9 for me. I think damned near everyone is surprised. They don’t just take commitments for momentum like many schools. They’d push back on him committing if they didn’t feel great after fully vetting him. They know they’re in this against Oregon, OSU and potentially the imbeciles at USC, so they’re not naive on what it is going to take to sign him. No reason not to feel good here.

  4. My 12-year-old understands this better than you: In Ukraine, Russia is the aggressor. In Iran, Israel and now the US are the aggressors. So that's one difference. But here's the bigger difference: Iran can shut down 20% of the world's daily oil consumption. They produce a shitload of drones that would be going up against tankers that you can see for many miles coming, that are slow and can't maneuver worth shit and have no air defense (or sea defenses for that matter, Iran has sea drones as well).

  9. No one here is rooting for Iran, or for the strike to have failed. There are reasonable voices calling for people to not instantly turn to the idea that Iran could not have possibly withstood the attack and will not strike back against so great a force. That BDA photo shows five holes in the ground, and not one damn thing more. No one here knows how much damage they did, or if any significant damage was done at all. Don't just assume that it was a smashing success and everything will be hunky dory from now on. History shows that to very rarely be the case.

  10. Bobby The pledge of Birmingham (Ala.) defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland gives the Horns three DT recruits in this class. Damari Simeon of New Jersey appears to be leaning the Longhorns’ way, too. Then there’s Kendal Guervil from Florida who remains on campus this morning, as well as James Johnson from Florida. All four are nationally rated. This could be the best DT class in the last 25 years for the Longhorns. Welcome to the SEC! ** Paris Melvin Jr., the defensive back out of Cypress, did not make an official visit to Texas. OTF has been told that the Longhorns have figured out their DB recruiting class and there is no room for Melvin in the class at this time. ** The recruiting weekend has already produced some silent commitments. Gerry has mentioned three to this point. However, we do not know necessarily when those players, or others, will announce a decision publicly. And those who have definitive timelines could always come off of those. Furthermore, based on the preliminary feedback we have received, there will be more than three from this weekend. ** We’ll have more as the day progresses.

  14. Man what a thing to wake up to (family trip in the UK)…ignoring the politics for a second, there’s evidence from satellite photos that a convoy of trucks removed material a couple days ago and we just used up nearly the entire stockpile of very specialized and expensive weapons (half a billion to manufacture ~12) on a dry hole. Boeing is happy. They’ll get another order that’ll keep the line running for a year or two. China and NK are happy. Those were designed for critical underground C3 facilities. Iran probably happy. They can spray IRBMs at assets much more vulnerable than Israel, such as American bases and ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trumpco is happy…well maybe not, those things do not produce huge explosions for Fox to jack off over. But they can declare victory like they just took Utah but in reality probably prove more like scaling Pointe Du Hoc with no 155’s up there. Politically…I guess it’s fuckin tradition at this point for a Pub prez to start a war in the sandbox for Dems to clean up later, being blamed the whole time for it.

  15. Iraq in 2003 put Iran on notice. Even if we hit their main facilities and kill some scientists, they’ll just restart it elsewhere. Pakistan and North Korea used the same justification to create their programs (not the destruction of the West, but the preservation of their states). There is a survival mentality there that we don’t understand, because that’s 80 years ago for us. And let’s be clear here: this war was most likely started because Netanyahu’s government barely survived a no-confidence vote, so I’m a bit suspicious of anything being said by Israel and the US. Netanyahu needed a distraction and a win in the worst possible way. Edit: some idiot tried to compare this to Ukraine/Russia, which is a very black and white situation. This is all kinds of shades of gray - nobody publicly gave a shit about going to war against Iran two weeks ago, until they were told to care. Nothing changed in the past few weeks or months in regard to Iran’s program.

  23. The fewer countries that have access to nuclear weapons the better. The more countries that have access to nuclear weapons, the more inherently dangerous the world is, on an existential level. I'm not a fan of Trump, but I am in favor of the risk/reward calculus here. Potentially eliminating Iran's nuclear program - and setting a precedent for other countries wishing to develop a nuclear weapon that aren't complete surrogates for China's security concerns - is a good thing, IMO. Of course there are risks. But there was never going to be a better time to do this. Hezbollah and Hamas have been defanged. Iran's air defenses have already been wiped out by Israel. Israel has excellent moment to moment intelligence inside Iran, as evidenced by their assassination of one of the leaders of Hamas while in Iran a couple of years ago, and the assassination strikes it continues to carry out on nuclear scientists and military leaders. I am sorry for anyone and everyone in harm's way, including our service people over there. But potentially eliminating Iran's ability to build a nuclear bomb within my lifetime is a good thing.

  26. Well no, she's a 1 year old so she doesn't go to school. That said, I don't think public schools should be shoving christianity down everyone's throat and asserting its primacy as the "normal" state of things. There's been multiple supreme court cases over this that have always ruled it was a violation of the first amendment. This is a waste of yours and mine taxes and legislative session time. Plus, schools should be a place for facts and critical thoughts. Not bible stories. That's SUNDAY school.
