Wait, he flew (or was flown) to Athens, Ga. when they certainly could have done that by satellite. Would have been nice for ESPN to point out that Franklin and Saban are both repped by Jimmy Sexton, who is also on set per McAfee earlier. They basically just did a LinkedIn promo for Franklin on national TV

Waste of airtime.

Game Day just keeps getting worse

The show is mostly boring. Has been for years. You could absolutely condense it to an hour and a half and make it much better. Cut out all the other shit and if it’s more focused it’s infinitely more watchable. Every show has some good memorable moments. Imagine if they cut the time in half and could only mostly show the memorable shit. It’s becoming like late seasons of the X Files. By that point most fans still watching just wanted the episodes about the aliens and to ditch the creature feature episode of the week. Jmo. Condense the shit and streamline it.

Exactly, because there’s not a likable or entertaining person on the whole Big Noon cast..

Big Noon Kickoff

Even Tom Rinaldi segments haven't screwed it up as badly as Game Day

Bring back Corso

Corso should have been put out to pasture 10 years ago, but he is still better than Pat McAfee's goofy ass.

The only way to make this show go downhill faster at this point would be to add Stephen A Smith.  Which I'm sure they're discussing.

I'm talking from a pure production quality standpoint. From a people perspective there's like half a personality split between everyone on ESPN/Fox gamedays.

Fox laps ESPN on production quality, even TNT does it better now even with very limited rights.

Merits entertaining....I wish they would dump the whole gambling picks thing but whatever.

Yeah Herbie, Saban, and bringing back Fowler would be my preference.....but sadly this show isn't built exclusively around my viewing preferences.

Women seem to love McAfee's antics so I guess they bring in viewers.

I miss Corso, but it's been painful watching him the past few years.

I like Saban on the show, and have always been a Herbstreet fan.

He was right with his cesspool quite..but he left out the part of Mack's role in creating said cesspool.

Yes if I could wave y magic wand we'd go back to early 90s gameday....but that show would get canceled these days for lack of viewers.

At least they don't run plays on a miniature field like the last time I watched an NFL pregame show.

The target audience is definitely not anyone like me. It feels more like pro wrestling, or some other garbage.

Remember when the show was two hours of Fowler, Herbstreit, and Corso just talking about college football in front of a live campus audience?

Yes 30 years ago.  Unfortunately, reality TV and the need for flashy entertainment for the millennial and all has ruined that.

Do you know how hard it is to make a tv program about college football basically unwatchable?

Yeah, people with college degrees who've been watching football for 40+ years and want good analysis?  Yeah, no, this is college football for the people who watch The Ultimate Fighter and boo during the grappling parts.

And yet sadly the past 3 years gameday has drawn its highest ratings in show history?

I don't like the changes, but they're working for their intended purpose....and they are flat out embarrassing Fox outside of rare individual weekends.

Pat McAfee and Theo Von together are like a singularity of dipshits on my tv.

Whoa. Fuck off about Theo. That dude comes off the top ropes with some hilarious shit, and his stories are otherworldly. His story about growing up a kid with no arms, but he would get you between his chin and chest still cracks me up.

A lot of joyless haters here.  What the fuck else are you doing from 8a-11a?  This is what I wait for my entire year, college football season.  Gameday should never have gone to 3 hours and they should have gotten rid of the moron a long time ago but otherwise I love it.  Saban was a great add and McAfee used to annoy me a lot more than he does now, he's very good at his job.

With Big Noon starting at 9 though, I start Gameday at around 815 and then can just flip around between the two skipping commercials all the way up until the 11a kicks.

Show specific stuff today:

Kiffin and Smart were both good segments.

That Oz shit...what's going on there?  I'll never forget stoned Weigman, that may have been the first time I saw Oz, what was that just two years ago?

Franklin, liked him better when he was an up and comer at Vanderbilt but it was weird how that went down.  They must have someone in mind right...or did they Jimbo him?

Jelly Roll is a great story, enjoy seeing him everywhere still.

Except for some really good human-interest pieces now and again, I don't get that much out of the Saturday morning shows. And I can watch those videos whenever I like. Almost everything surrounding the games is now so overdone on so many platforms I don't find it worth wading through. But I still love to watch the games themselves.

Pat McAfee licks Rosie O'Donnell's dick hole dildo as a snack before bedtime. I hate him. He's horrible and annoying. He's slightly funnier than Jimmy Kimmel, who is labeled the most unfunny person on television. Saban is OK. He shows no emotion, except in Vrbo commercials, which are admittedly funny with his dry sense of humor. I wish he would move to Fox.

FOX noon kickoff is superior, imo. I do still hold a grudge they replaced Reggie Bush with Mark Ingram, but otherwise I enjoy everyone else. Yes, even Urban. Plus FOX has Joel Klatt, whom I love. Even when we are dripping, soggy asswater, he still loves us. I hope he's really Jesus. I like Brady and Matt. They are too good looking, but worth their salt, too. Dave Portnoy can sit in a bathtub and slit his wrists for all I care. He's useless.

ESPN comes off as too serious, and I miss the old Lee Corso from a decade ago. Their panel of Kirk (love his two new golden retrievers, Beau and Peter. Rest in peace, Ben) comes off like he's being held hostage by Hamas and reading from a teleprompter trying to use his dead eyes as Morse code for help. Rece Davis is forgettable. "Stanford Steve" is the worst fucking nickname not named "Booger" McFarland. Desmond Howard is cognitively delayed. We all know this. Also annoying. Chris "The Bear" Fallica is as useful as having seven fingers to try and jerk off with.

Move Saban to FOX, kill McAfee, Fallica, and Howard.

Herbie and Fowler are good commentators for games, though. Same with Joel Klatt and Gus Johnson for FOX.

Thank you for slimming through my TED Talk.

Annoying Gameday commentary and caricatures aside, I wonder why they can't find anyone even remotely good at speaking to the point spread and game picks.  The guy they have now is only slightly better than the idoit they had before at .500.

Isn't that Fallica? If so, he's 1 donut away from having a diabetic coma on screen.

I had to look up his real name. I kept getting "The Bear" Fallica and Standford Steve mixed up. He sucks for sure. He adds nothing. It feels like ESPN is hiring the most inexpensive "talent" possible and trying to pass it off as respectable. It's not working.

But it is working. They consistently beat Fox in the ratings. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not working. Just watch your dumb Portnoy show and enjoy that. Gameday is still enjoyable. You could always do something really novel if you don't like something, maybe just don't watch it.

People on this site need their irritainment and something to fuel their constant desire to be angry about something or someone like Herbie, McAfee, or Desmond.

GameDay hasn't been good since they were in the studio.

Did you miss where I said couldn't care less if Portnoy slit his wrists? He's as useless as an empty xanax bottle.

And you're right, it is working, so kudos to them. It's just my own personal opinion and preference. I think ratings are just people who turn on ESPN for background noise. I like their stories they have on players, and I like Herbie and Fowler. Howard is a moron. McAfee is annoying, but if you like him, cool. Nothing wrong with that. I grew up with it like most everyone else, so it's nostalgic and it will always have a place in my black heart. I just don't like a few of their panelist.

The shows are for two entirely different demographics. For talking football, I love Big Noon, and Klatt + Johnson are really likeable and knowledgeable. Same with Leinart and Quinn. Ingram is slightly smarter than Howard. That's just me.

For night games, it's clearly Herbie and Fowler, whom I personally like a lot.
